Johnny Manziel 40 time prop bet line set at 4.45 per @bovadaLV.
So who will weigh more? A 6'0" Manziel or a 6'1½" Bridgewater???
Matt Miller ‏@nfldraftscout
Not yet. Those heights aren't official yet are they?
Manziel 205, TB 212 for me.I'll stick with my expectations of Manziel at 190-195 and Bridgewater around 205.
Would shock the peepee outta me.I won't be surprised if Clowney has a better 40...
Possibly, but I'm betting Manziel's 3-cone (which I tend to think is more akin to scrambling) will be smokin'I won't be surprised if Clowney has a better 40. Big feet gives an athlete good traction.......a perfect setup for Manziel's stop, start, quick change of direction elusiveness. But it's just like a large low gear on a bicycle. In a straight ahead 40, large feet are a detriment..........a higher small gear (smaller feet) is an advantage.
So who will weigh more? A 6'0" Manziel or a 6'1½" Bridgewater???
No way we draft a QB who isn't at least 6'3" with the #1 overall pick.
.
So you wouldn't draft Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, or Aaron Rodgers first overall?
And he's got the meat on him to withstand a pounding in the NFL.No, JaMarcus Russell is more worthy of the #1 pick.![]()
No way we draft a QB who isn't at least 6'3" with the #1 overall pick.
Somewhere deep in the 3rd round.... understandable.
Even a 2nd rounder. Late first. But 1.1
No way.
Here's what Eric Galko, the Director of Scouting for Optimum Scouting and lead editor of www.OptimumScouting.com., lead NFL Draft analyst for Sporting News and regular contributor at National Football Post and TheFootballEducator.com as well, had to say about Manziel. When I read this, I find it hard to argue with.

Funny text from a friend just sent to me reads "Just walked by Manziel. No way in hell he's 6 ft"

Or a Bump It hair clip...maybe?
Or getting used to getting hung out to dry.

Show me one of your posts where you stated the Texans should have drafted Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, or Aaron Rodgers in the first round. We didn't have the 1st overall pick but I don't remember anyone at anytime saying we should use a 1st round pick on any of them.
I understand there were no Texans when Brees fell out of the 1st, still I don't remember the, "I can't believe Brees fell to the second round" chatter.
Now if you want to use hindsight & draft these guys, wait 'till next year & tell us what we should have done. Until then, guys like Andrew Luck & Phillip Rivers will continue to go before guys like Johnny Manziel & Teddy Bridgewater.

My son was on the A&M coaching staff... there's no problem with JM's work ethic regarding football, it's off the field where there's questions.-- Bill Polian
Just talked to Manziel. Looking forward to talking w media tomorrow. Says he's 6 feet; might have to stretch him to get there.
I don't care if JM checks in at 6'6". He is not going #1 to any team. His game just has too many question marks with regards to translating to the NFL.
Once again the point has gone so far over your head that you didn't even know it was there.
You said
But, haven't these guys I mentioned above proved that their is no magical mark of height that you have to be? This isn't 1998.
We need a QB, and if they best once available happens to not be this magical 6"3, do we not take him and just pick the tallest guy we can.
I think the whole underlying point of your post is that AJ McCarron happens to be listed at 6"4, so he qualifies for a first overall pick in your mind and posting this is just another subtle way to push him up while still not having to admit he is your guy.
For whatever reason people want to believe I've got an ulterior motive. But I say what I mean. I'm not going to take "the best QB" at 1 overall if he's not 6'3" minimum. I've been pretty clear on this.
& as long as I believe 4 or more of the QBs I want will be on the board at 2.1, I'm not going to take a QB at all in the first. Chances are there are better options.
At least three prototypical LTs, two prototypical #1 WRs, a freak of a DE, two bonafide All-Pro ILBs.... but I'm going to take a 5'10" QB who's game won't translate to the NFL? or a guy with the leadership wherewithal of Matt Schaub?
I don't think so.
Just because Russell Wilson had a 70% chance of being successful in the NFL & made good of it, doesn't mean we should take a 70% propect over a 90% prospect.
You say you won't take a QB #1 who is not at least 6'3", then go on to say you won't take a short QB who's game won't translate to the NFL.
Why would ANYONE take a QB of ANY SIZE whos game won't translate to the NFL?
Big difference between May not translate and won't translate. Why do you keep adjusting your stance?
All we can do is stack the deck in our favor as much as we can with what we know before the draft. Height, weight, arm strength, level of competition, all of it.
Johnny Manziel getting some tutoring from Kevin O'Donnell an Ex-Bill O'Brien QB.
Does this mean anything?
What you don't see (and by your own admission you don't watch CFB) is how talented and skilled these guys are as quarterbacks. If you did see this, you would conclude the same things that 100s of professional scouts have...and that is that McCarron is a inferior player to Bortles, Manziel, and Bridgwater.

It means he is making smart decisions or getting smart advising in his preparation for the draft.
Johnny Manziel 5'11 3/4 207
Johnny Manziel 5'11 3/4 207
So basically. He's 6 feet tall
Now we get 30 pages of discussion on why 5'11 3/4" is so much worse than a TRUE 6'er.So basically. He's 6 feet tall
