Manziel

You know good and well what I mean; the media never reported this kind of stuff because it didn't fit the bad boy rebel image they wanted to give Manziel.

The media hardly ever says anything positive. Negativity is where the money is at and you get more sensitive when it's against someone you champion . Which means you pay no attention until it hits home and then you get peepeeitis . :vincepalm:

JFF biggest mark against him is he'll probably measure 5'10.5 .

The media ignores 99% of this stuff other than in doing profile pieces because everyone around with high draft hopes is doing it. Manziel isn't being oppressed.

Manziel's relationship with Charlie Dina dates back to before he was even a Heisman candidate, this is more than just a publicity stunt to give him good press leading up to draft day. His work with young cancer patients is a genuine passion of his and he spent a lot of time during his career at A&M devoted to helping and fund raising for children with cancer. I never said he was being oppressed, nor that the Illumanti was out to get him, just simply posting some factual information on a player which this board is lacking as of late.

^ what the fellow Aggie said. It's not that Manziel is being conspired against by the Bohemian Grove or something, it's just that Manziel being a bad boy = money story, Manziel doing charity work = not so much. It's just an image thing. He's not as much of a raging douche as the media would like to portray, IMO, but as with all public figures who really knows?

My nephew went to A&M and has come in contact with Manziel numerous times and says pretty much the same thing ....

meh , Bridgewater in one hand , Manziel in the other .... flip a coin already and lets move on.

You cannot pass up on that play making potential. People underrate him because of his off field problems (fake controversy drummed up by mindless media like espn) but he is russell wilson 2.0

The white Michael Vick.

The talent is there. The production is there against elite college football competition. You cannot pass up on that kind of upside/potential.

Both you folks sound silly for dropping other players' names on Manziel. Let him be who he is without lame ass labels.

Understand wanting him here (LB) and not wanting him here (DX), but don't be lazy.

Ryan Leaf 2.0

No thanks.

please kindly slap yourself.

What's wrong with making comparisons? That's a normal sports exercise. Manziel is that kind of player. He is no tim tebow or case keenum. Just watch him play against elite level competition that will be in the nfl.

His talent is real. Lets wait and see how he does in the combine.

In before the move. :gun:

... and no, the Texans DON'T HAVE TO TAKE Manziel. There's plenty of options they can chose from and multiple different ways they can go with their first round pick.

EXACTLY. He's something, IMO, that we haven't seen much of or at all. That's why I say, just let JFF be JFF.

i agree. he's similar to those guys but also very different. he is a very smart runner. he's not some bruising brute who uses his size like tebow. he is a very slick smart runner that knows which angles to take. i compared him to vick because he also has that ability to make the hard beautiful throws.

he is the real deal my god just watch him play and use your analytical judgement from all the years watching football. weigh in his competition level and see how he performs in the combine. Weigh in what the analysts think.

What you see is elite level athleticism. A pure gamer with the it factor/intangibles.

The texans would be crazy not to take him.

That isn't a good sales pitch.

how you figure?

michael vick was spectacular in college making similar spectacular plays. He did the same thing in the NFL until he lost his way.

You cant be possibly saying that Manziel will run a criminal underground dog fighting operation can you?

No, the Texans don't have to take Manziel. They could go with the #1 rated player in Clowney or the #1 QB in Bridgewater instead. They would both be smarter picks (IMO).

He is like Leaf in that he will implode within two years of being in the league. he is an immature brat and will not dedicate himself to the team.

how about the Anti-Russell Wilson? better?

My biggest fear going into this draft is that the Texans will give in to the A&M homers & draft Manziel. It's enough to give one nightmares. Look at it this way, Cleveland is rumored to be in love with Manziel. They couldn't judge talent if it bit them on the arse.
Just say NO to Manziel!!!

Skip, is that you?

Bush made it official Thursday: He's turning pro and he said he wouldn't mind at all if Houston took him with the No. 1 pick. After all, didn't it look suspiciously like the Texans gave it their all to lose the "Bush Bowl" in the season finale against San Francisco -- and win Reggie?

Indeed, if Reggie Bush avoids knee surgery, he'll be a Hall of Famer.

But Texans fans are right: Their team would be crazy not to take Vince.

NO, they should not take Manziel. Why?

Because he doesn't dress for success. :neener:

For the record, this Aggie is against Manziel @ 1.1.

Gimme sum dat Bridgewater kid. Bortles is all right too. Would not complain with either, though I'd like to move down to 1-2 or 1-3 if we're set for Bortles.

mel kiper and i disagree. they play nothing alike. to say he's gonna go ryan leaf is a bit harsh and presumptuous. Mel knows what he is talking about. Lets wait and see what happens at the combine and what other analysts think before proclaiming infamous downfall on a kid who hasnt really done anything wrong.

Players I would take before Manziel

Bridgewater
Clowney
J.Mathews
Mack
G. Robinson
Barr
Bortles
Watkins
Carr
Mosley
Dennard
Lee
Lewman

and maybe M. Evans and Kouandjio

Then, maybe if I'm feeling gutsy, I draft the local kid to sell some tickets.

If we're taking a QB at 1.1, it's Manziel.... I've watched all of the videos, I've seen what's been posted, and for me it's visually and statistically definitive who the cream of that crop is considering competition played. Now, with Cleveland rumored to be enamored by Manziel, we'd be fools to not trade down for the extra depth this team sorely needs. I've not seen a single thing posted by a person I'd trust to not be biased in either Manziel thread. This isn't about keeping an Aggie in Texas, this is about the Texans. And unlike some claiming to be Aggie's to give their post more credence, I R UN AGGIRE ... class of '81... :)

Manziel is gonna be decent if he can stay healthy. I'm not worried about off field stuff because I did way worse things at his age than he's done and I'vegrown up to be productive.
But I have watched a lot of Teddy Bridgewater and I've said numerous times, this guy can be Aaron Rodgers. His skill set is very similar. The only concern is his size and after hitting a weightroom with NFL strength and conditioning coaches, the size is gonna be a non issue.

I mean look at that man. Look at that.

Come on. He's freaking spectacular. That's not conference USA he's playing against.

Passing up on Manziel is the 2nd coming of passing up on randy moss.

You cannot pass up on that kind of potential just because of some harmless bad publicity.

Johnny Freaking Football lost to every ranked SEC team he played this year. He didn't beat a single SEC team that had a winning conference record. They finished 7th in the conference. He had to do a major come-from-behind to beat Duke in a bowl game. D-U-K-E.

Who cares about stats if he can't win the games that matter?

He sure does look purdy though beating up on SHSU and UTEP...

Lord Bills has the biggest broner showing.

I like Bortles but at the end if the day I'm for whoever Obie wants. If he picks TB, BB, or JFF I'll be behind it.

^This. I'm predicting a lot of anger from the different camps, regardless of who we draft. How about we support whoever we do draft and give em a few years before making judgement. There is no MUST TAKE in any draft.

Great thread

You do realize there's a College and draft forum, right? Not that this thread needs to be anywhere in TT to begin with, but...

annnnd Texas A&M's 85th ranked defense had nooooothing to do with those loses?

You hang 40+ on a team and lose, that isn't on the QB. You give up 5 TDs in the first 5 possessions to
D-U-K-E, has nothing to do with the QB....

Can't hang the problems of a horrible A&M defense on Manziel's shoulders when Manziel has no control of that matter. That falls on Sumlin...

nice try, thanks for playing...

I think Manziel is a good QB but lets look at what O'Brien has worked with

Christian Hackenberg: Big kid. Big arm. Pocket guy

Tom Brady: Big guy. Big arm. Pocket guy

Sorry, I just think he will lean to one of the other two.

looks like he might be leaning towards Bortles then?

If that be the case, dangle that #1 pick in front of Cleveland, drop back a few slots and pick up some extra picks...

worst case scenario, Texans have their pick of Bortles, Bridgewater or Clowney at #4 spot...
