Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans. 9/15. Noon. CBS. **Official Liberty White Thread**

People need to learn the rules. When the kicking team touches the ball without downing it its fair game and even if titans fumble they can take it from the touched spot.

Basically the same thing as downing the ball. The kicking team can touch the ball before the receiving team, and if they do it is dead at that spot.

I understand the rules. I don't understand what was "illegal" about the initial touch by the kicking team.

Folks asked for an explanation not an insult. Not everyone has time to dissect the NFL rule book.

The announcers are clueless. It's easy. You have to spot the ball where it's at when the knee goes down.

Are you going to spot the ball on the chalk????

Lmao.

Lmao at anyone that thought the tip of the ball crossing the chalk means its not a safety. The entire ball has to be out of the EZ otherwise where would you spot it???

True, the rule says:
Two points are scored for the opposing team when the ball is dead on or behind a team’s own goal line

So because it wasn't muffed they can just touch it and walk away and the ball is still theirs, makes no sense.

Anyone explain this. I have seen someone touch at the one and throw it back to b downed at like the 5 and now flag

This is a rule in all levels if football.

If the kicking team touches the ball without downing it, the return team is taught that they should go after the ball because even if they pick it up and fumble it they still get the ball.

The ball was not downed. It was touched.

OK, I think the "illegal" touch was by the Titans player since he went out of bounds and came back in, I think. The official initially indicated an illegal touch by the Texans (Posey?), and that's what confused me since Posey never went out of bounds.

I don't care if I offended your sensitivities. I wasn't talking to you or anyone here. I'm talking about the announcers who don't readily know this stuff. But you can cry me a river.

No. They called it on posey. It's not a penalty per se. It's just an illegal touch. No flag.

It just means the ball was touched but wasn't downed.

Foster is not gonna beat anyone on a route when he splits. So the defense knows its a quick hitter. Its either a short dagger route or hook. Everytime they flex like that, its an audible play and they crowd the wr.
