You must be joking. That was a perfect deep ball with the coverage pretty close to Stallworth. If you wanted to say the Lloyd TD was a throw anybody could make because the fake was so good nobody was within 10 yards of him I'd buy that one.
I may have overstated it a bit, but a darn throw downhill in front of the Qb with the CB in trail, for a decent NFL QB is like money in the pocket.

I think only Brady, Rogers, Peyton and Brees, maybe Eli, complete that better than 50% of the time. A guy like Cutler probable completes it 75% of the time but 25% are to the DB. :)

Happy holidays to you as well.

Breakdowns happen in every secondary every game. The elite QBs make the throws more often than not. As I said before the game Brady will get throws off just before the pressure hits more often that not. I will grant you your team under-performed but a good portion of that was the Pats having a superior game plan on defense and limiting the running game which again was a key. Every time they tried to run off of Brown the Pats were overloading those gaps and Kubiak never adjusted. Granted Shaub missed some plays but so did Brady or more specifically Welker who probably had his worst game since 2010 when he was coming off the ACL injury.

If we meet again it's likely in your house which will help you a lot. Gronk will be back which will help us a lot.

Good luck moving forward.
I must tell you that I was not very pleased that Kubiak left a fourth round rookie Ben Jones on an island with Wilkork that many times. I did mention before the game that it would be foolish, didn't I?

I understand that Brady can get the ball out very quickly , there's nothing new there. But our coverage broke down too often, too soon for the pass rush to have any real effect.

In real time, your team won.
There's hardly anything I can say that matters.
No bitterness; we just get ready for the next battle.

And I did mention that we're a young team, especially in the term that we haven't won anything. The Pats are an established team with the experience and the know-how.

Like I said, it's better not to sound like sour grape.
We will see you shortly, I hope :)

Another thing that I mentioned to my peers on this MB, is that against very good to great QB, you have to punch them on the mouth for a while before you can get a result.

In order to do that, we need the back side not to blow assignments.

We didn't do that.
But imagine if they did (like how the Pats back end did), all those hits on Brady, man, they would become more pronounced as the game goes on and the QB doesn't get the results he had hoped for.

I bet you it wasn't Kubiak who made that call. They figure that out at the LOS. There were a couple of times I wondered if Arian was supposed to leave the backfield or help out. Looked like Arian was convinced he was supposed to, but there was one in particular where it appears that Myers passed a guy off (a LB blitzing up the middle) thinking someone was going to be there but wasn't.

He chipped him, then let him go to help Smith. Then he could tell the play was over, turned around & saw Schaub laying on the ground. He started to look around to see what happened.

He had to have thought someone was going to pick up the LB.

You did say that. Wilfork also beat a bunch of double teams and whenever they doubled him Spike and Mayo were hitting the vacated gap. A lot of the things we both said came true. The one we disagreed on was Brady getting the ball out in spite of pressure. No worries on the sour grapes and I have a feeling we will meet again.

That's true but I don't think that's the secondary you have right now. It will be interesting to see how they do against Luck. He's not at the level of a Brady or Rogers but is he as good as Stafford? I'm not sure. Stafford has CJ and to be honest I think CJ makes Stafford. Conversely I think Luck will be the better QB long term but for now it's debatable. Really that game is your pass defense and the Colts run defense. Which ever group rises up wins. I think you have the far superior talent overall but it's a QB driven world and that can even the gap. I think Shaub is a good QB he's just not elite. If the run is working he's pretty good. If it's not as we saw he can be pretty bad.

What confused me is they kept moving Foster all the way out to an outside receiver spot. They got the one on one with the LB and they never took advantage of it. It was Mayo every time but one. Mayo is OK in coverage. The one time he didn't it was Spikes. Spikes is OK in zone. One on one......shudder. That's the matchup where Brady looks out there and that ball is going there for sure. I cannot believe the coaching staff didn't recognize that and take advantage of it.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. I've noted to my peers that Stafford even gets the ball out in less than a second. You need a backend that can stick or can jump on the receivers to minimize the gains on those routes.

But it's a given in this league.

What we allowed that are most sinful were a couple of deep routes that our safeties hardly gave up last year; something you can relate to with the changes in your secondary lately.

The pass rush can be helped by the back-end in those instances.
Break down in coverage can be exploited even by college QB.

The comparisons need to be made for two teams that play up to their norm, or at least close to it. It wasn't the case in this game, and so the victor rules.

I'm a PAT'S and know what you guys went through....sorry. But I've been there done that. I watch the Pat's every weekend and I can tell you, you hit them on their up-swing. They've been playing better and better every week for the last 5-6 weeks. I could actually see the improvement in our defense especially our pass coverage which sucked earlier in the year. I hope we continue to improve throughout the playoffs.

Good luck!

I know, I even posted that the Pats secondary has improved of late with the arrival of Talib, the move to safety by McCourty.

Also, even though I didn't post this on either board; I've always liked Dennard out out of Nebraska (there's a Cornhusker fan on this board with SN Kiwitexan who loves him also).

The Pats got a nice prospect out of that dude.

I would have liked to have him too, but we were already crowded at the position - not exactly to my preference.
