Weekly Sit/Start Discussion Thread

Thanks,

yea I'm thinking Lloyd and Johnson for sure, back and forth on Malcom Floyd and Holmes.

Floyd is a good receiver and Rivers has been tossing the ball around all season so I couldn't fault going with Floyd. But he's coming back from an injury and he hasn't exactly been lighting it up since he got back. Meanwhile Holmes has 4 TD's in the last 4 games. Holmes is probably the safe bet but sometimes it's best to just go with your gut.

Pick 5 (two RBs, two WRs, and a flex)

Arian Foster
Jamaal Charles
LeGarrette Blount
Brian Westbrook
Anthony Dixon
Calvin Johnson
Wes Welker
Marquise Colston
Michael Crabtree
Brandon Marshall

The obvious starts, IMO, are Foster, Charles, and Megatron. Having trouble selecting my #2 WR and flex.

Thanks in advance!

I would go with those 3, Welker & Colston

Can't argue with this but I would give serious consideration to Blount @WSH. Sounds like a good problem to have.

I read somewhere (PFW maybe? or PFT?) that Blount's role was going to be reduced and he won't be getting the reps.

From Rotoworld

According to the St. Petersburg Times' Stephen F. Holder, the Bucs coaches are "puzzled" by LeGarrette Blount's occasional lack of success in short-yardage situations.

Holder writes that problem is not due to an "inability to power through defenders but rather from indecision at the line of scrimmage." Coach Raheem Morris said Earnest Graham might get a look on short-yardage plays. "We may have to look into a different direction in those situations but while we're still working with (Blount) at the same time," Morris said. This could certainly hurt the rookie's scoring upside going forward.

That really doesn't worry me too much, especially the way it's worded.

Here are some different sites thoughts:

Blount's alma mater, Oregon, is one win away from the National Championship. This week, the rookie rusher could bring his owners one step closer to their own trophy destiny. Similar in style and substance as Christian Okoye Tecmo Super Bowl '91, the bulldozing back totaled only the third 80-plus yard game against the Falcons this season, rushing for 103 yards on 20 carries. Despite the youngster's extraordinary peformance, Raheem Morris was displeased with Blount's execution in critical short-yardage situations. So upset was the head coach, he suggested Earnest Graham(notes) could overtake such duties. When he chooses to remove the clogs and focuses running full-steam downhill, Blount is almost impossible to stop. His combination of size and speed is devastating. Washington will soon know. Over the 'Skins' past eight games, they've conceded five 100-yard rushing games and nine TDs to RBs. Don't worry about Graham's possible expanded role. In a must-win game for Tampa, expect the rhino to spike the competition.

Fearless Forecast: 19 carries, 96 rushing yards, 1 touchdown, 15 fantasy points

LeGarrette Blount, RB, TB - The Redskins looked like a bunch of little kids out there playing against grown men last week. The Giants had their way with the Redskins, and they just pounded the ball on the ground at will. Blount has some very nice power, and he would love nothing more than to help his team bounce back this week against a floundering Washington team. Start Blount in most formats.

Blount looking at great matchup: The Redskins run defense has crumbled in the last two games, a perfect opportunity for Tampa Bay RB LeGarrette Blount to have a big game Week 14 in Washington. Washington is coming off a loss to the Giants in which they allowed 103 yards and two touchdowns to Brandon Jacobs on eight carries and 97 yards and two more scores to Admad Bradshaw on 25 touches. The Redskins have allowed the opposing team's running backs to rack up at least 100 yards in five straight games and the Vikings and Giants scored six total touchdowns against them the last two weeks

I need some serious advise fellas. Im in the playoffs in a 12 man league. Only 8 people left. The pot is about $900 if I win. This is my STARTING LINE UP:

QB Matt Schaub, QB Bal 12.83

WR Andre Johnson, WR Bal 11.10

WR Reggie Wayne, WR @Ten W, 30-28 10.91

RB Jamaal Charles, RB @SD 8.66

RB Arian Foster, RB Bal 16.29

TE Benjamin Watson, TE @Buf 3.95

W/R Dwayne Bowe, WR @SD 8.52

K Matt Bryant, K @Car 9.66

DEF Kansas City, DEF @SD 10.38

THIS IS ON MY BENCH AND WHO THEY PLAY
RB: Jonathan Stewart, Atl
RB: Pierre Thomas, Stl
RB: Ryan Torain, Tb
WR: Robert Meachem, Stl
QB: Sam Bradford, No
DEF: Dallas, Phil

Help would be appreciated... My opponent had Manning last night.
Zach Miller, TE

What bothers me the MOST is Houston against Baltimore

I wouldn't change a thing man.

Bowe is definintely shaky without Cassel but I still think he might be your best option. Stewart goes up against a stingy ATL run defense, Thomas I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play, and Torain is coming back from a hammy and I doubt if he gets too many carries. If you don't feel comfortable starting Bowe, I would go with JStew instead.

Schuab does have a scary matchup but would you rather roll with Bradford against the Saints 3rd ranked pass defense?

Non PPR. Thinking about sitting Marshall for Floyd. Any other opinions on this lineup?

I got Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Lance Moore, Danny Amendola and Mike Thomas. I need to start 3 of them, 1 PPR league.

I'm thinking White, Jennings and Moore...

I would start Floyd as Marshall hasn't done anything for weeks. Floyd at least had some good games in the last few weeks, but neither is a great option. Might want to check the wire for a better one :(

Should I start Blount or Ivory at the flex?

I think you have a better chance for more points with Blount because you know he will get carries. From what I have read, Thomas will be getting some carries for the Saints, but I'm not sure how many Ivory will get, if he plays at all.

Should I start Blount or Ivory at the flex?

That's a tough spot to be in. Ivory has 5 TD's in his last 4 games and the Saint's offense has been on fire lately. On the other hand, Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas are both back and both had more carries than Ivory last week.

Ivory is playing @BAL and the Ravens have one of the best run defenses in the league. Blount is playing vs Det who has one of the worst run defenses in the league.

Blount is probably the safer play but Ivory has more upside IMO.

I would go with Floyd, Marshall has been garbage this year and Floyd at least has upside. I can't see the image of your lineup on my work PC.

Woohoo! I made all the right calls this week.

Kerry Collins 15
Roddy White 12
Vincent Jackson 29
Ronnie Brown 9
Jacob Tamme 3
Jonathan Stewart 11
Nate Kaeding 10
NE Def 16

Total: 105

Only player I missed was Brandon Marshall 14. And I still have Adrian Peterson playing tonight.

Whats that? I am a lock to win this week? Well thats a big fat NO!

Opponent has:

Michael Vick 38
DeSean Jackson 9
Brandon Lloyd 13
Ray Rice 35
Zach miller 3
Santana Moss 19
Janikowski 15
SD DEF 12

Total: 144 and he still has Matt Forte to play..

FML.

I'm up by 16 in my big money league going into tonight. My opponent has Greg Olsen, so I'm hoping he does his usual 2 catches for 10 yards thing. I know I can beat the other team that advanced, so I really want to win this one!

-also, I should have started Amendola and/or Thomas over Jennings and Moore :( Both got a lot of return yards for points!

I was on a 6 game winning streak, then, one game short of the finals, I had to play a guy that had:

Vincent Jackson
Mike Vick
Calvin Johnson
Arian Foster
Darren McFadden
Kevin Boss
NE Defense

Lost by 70 pts

Dude... I need 8 measly points to get into the championship game, which I would then be in both finals for both my money leagues.

Stupid Metrodome roof!!! I would be way less concerned with my two WRs Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox getting me those points indoors!!

Yeah, I'm hoping it winds up 2-0...

No! Heres the problem with being commissioner. Everyone gives you thier money in the beginning and what, its just supposed to sit there untouched?!?

I'm up by a little more than 6... other guy has Longwell going tonite.

Looks like Knox got you your points for sure.

I'm in the championship this weekend. Who would you start?

Eli Manning @ Packers

Jason Campbell Home vs Colts

Tim Tebow home vs Texans

I'm leaning towards Tebow. I just don't trust Eli in Green Bay and I also love any QB vs Texans. Except Rusty Smith.

Yuck. Eli. I dont trust a rookie QB in his 2nd start even against the Texans.

I'm in the Super Bowl this week with a nice +23 point projection right now. My QBs are
Josh Freeman against Seattle

David Garrard against Washington

or I could pick up one of these guys on the wire:
Tim Tebow against Houston
Kerry Collins @ KC
Rex Grossman @ Jax
Shaun Hill @ Miami

Any suggestions? Right now I'm going with Freeman, but Tebow sounds like a good pickup...

Its tough to go with Tebow, part of me thinks he explodes and part of me thinks he regresses, its basically a high-risk, high-reward thing IMO.

Kerry Collins is solid but he's playing against a decent KC defense that can rush the passer and cover WRs. Unless Nate Washington has a big day, Collins is not going to light up the scoreboard. He should do decent but nothing impressive.

Rex Grossman tends to be hot and cold. He plays well one game than completely sucks it up the next.

I would stick with Freeman and or Garrad who plays a weak Redskins defense that struggles against the pass.

I'm thinking Freeman over Garrard now that MJD looks to be out. I don't think the run game will be as good without MJD to share the load. The guy I'm playing against just picked up the Jax DST and Rashard Jennings in place of Pierre Thomas. I'm really really really hoping Jennings doesn't do crap without MJD to do the power running for him.

I like Freeman, but he just never goes off for 25+ points. Consistently gets me 15-20 each game, which is fine, but not great when I'm up against Aaron Rodgers...

Man, I knew I should have listened to my gut and started Schaub. Rivers has been TERRIBLE!!!!!

:kubepalm:

What do you mean? They had nearly the same stats, only a 50 yard passing difference, and Schuab had a fumble. In my league they were 3 points different because Rivers loses 1 for the sack.

Rivers pulled it out in the end. I spoke too soon. At the time of me writing that, it was the 4th quarter and Rivers only had 5 fantasy points. Turned out okay. Too bad the championship game lasts two weeks instead of one. Looks like I might win this week.

In my league, Schaub scored 16 and Rivers 14. No big deal.
