Fast Mock Draft 2.0

Just sizing up the Bills needs, I can't believe it but I think they are in worse shape than the Lions are.

What a mess, and to top it off they are changing defenses.

Tha Raiders select Bryan Bulaga, LT, Iowa.

While this is certainly not going to happen, I think that it would be the best course of action for the Raiders. Bulaga is a legit LT, with potential to be a franchise protector.

Question I have always had when doing a mock. Do you pick in accordance of what you think the team will actually do; Or do you select what you think the team should do?

For me, there is usually a big difference.

I've been looking into Davis..... there seems to be some effort, character, love of the game questions there. I'm a bit weary.

Yep but I've read he's got the most upside and is a mauler . I drafted him for Dallas at #27 so I didn't have to worry as much .

Look ... don't fret ... the real guys drafted Aaron Maybin at 11 last year .

After seeing the top 3 OT prospects fly off the board ahead of them and being weary of the next 2 (Davis and Campbell) the Bills change tack and take a player to man the other side of the trenches.

Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee

With the Bills going to the 3-4, they take the piece in the middle to build around.

He is strong, demands double teams and controls the LOS.

He is really impressive specimen, compares best to Jason Peters.

Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane, unless he is 120% focused.

Too much risk so I pass.

No trades, just draft ;)

11.) Denver Broncos - Ole Miss Texan - 7AM Monday

12.) Miami Dolphins - The Pencil Neck

13.) San Francisco 49ers - Ole Miss Texan

14.) Seattle Seahawks - Texan4Ever

15.) New York Giants - kiwitexansfan

The Denver Broncos select Rolando McClain, LB from The University of Alabama.

rolando-mcclain-p1.jpg

This comes down to a perfect blend of Best Player Available and Position of Need. McClain possesses great instincts, leadership qualities and work ethic. He will be like a coach on the field and an instant impact player in the league.

That is who I wanted for the Broncos in the last draft, but he was drafted really early by the Chiefs @ #5.

The Dolphins have lost a lot of edge rushing speed and ability this off-season.

And so with the twelfth pick of the 2010 draft, the Miami Dolphins... to no one's surprise... take

16620_1004jasonpierrepaul.jpg

Jason Pierre-Paul, Rush LB, South Florida

But they really, really wanted Dan Williams and they're pretty pissed off at KiwiTexansFan for snatching him up for the hated Bills.

Lets pick up the pace for this mock. It is going slower than the first mock... Dont be afraid to PM your picks to myself or someone else.

For me, there is usually a big difference.

On mocks like this, I try to balance both. Like it is becoming cliche to draft physical freaks for the Raiders. But I would not do it, and believe that Al Davis may not do it.

I tend to draft how I think they should draft. But if it is really close between player A and player B I might see if the owner or coach's tendencies can sway me in a direction.

The San Francisco 49'ers select C.J. Spiller, RB from Clemson University.

spiller.jpg

Spiller is just too much of a talent to pass up for this team and I was worried he wouldn't last until the 17th. Spiller and Gore will provide a great RB tandem with Coffee being our 3rd RB (now one of the best backfields in the league). He will be the much needed spark on offense and special teams. The running game will be key for finding success on offense.

Seahawks are up. I can see a QB here with Matt Hasselbeck getting old/injured, and they traded away Seneca Wallace.

And they paid Whitehurst Orlavsky money and gave up some draft picks for him. So, they want him at least as a primary backup.

It looks to me like they're setting up for taking a developmental QB. That doesn't necessarily mean here. They could draft a Clausen here or they could draft someone like Lefevre or Pike (or Colt or whomever). Then they could go into the season with Hasselbeck and Whitehurst with their new guy learning the ropes. Then next season, they ditch Hasselbeck and name the new guy as the starter and Whitehurst remains the backup.

UNLESS Whitehurst really surprises them and steps it up and wins the job this year and Hasselbeck becomes the backup.

With the 14th pick, the Seahawks select...

Earl Thomas

df+tackle.jpg

The Seahawks have many needs, mostly on defense and with the top CB gone, Earl Thomas is the next best option. Thomas is the best safety available, fills a need for the Seahawks, and is a play maker Pete Carrol's defense is badly in need of.

Damn you...I knew he wouldnt make it to me, but a guy can dream...

Good points. I forgot that they gave up alot for Whitehurst.

The Giants with their first round pick address their Offensive Line which lacks depth and is aging.

They believe that there is not good value at their other positions of need while their is a top rated OT still on the board. While there are some character concerns with this player, he is perhaps the most talented lineman in this years draft.

The Giants select Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

Dang you! I was afraid the Seahawks were going to pick up Spiller and he wouldn't make it to our other 1st (speaking as 49'ers GM)! I had Thomas written on the card a picture even input... and then backed out right before we got up to Goodell thinking Thomas had the better shot of slipping to 17.

steelbtexan was awesome and PM'ed me his pick since he will be gone for a few hours.

The Tennessee Titans Select: Everson Griffen, DE, USC

17.) San Francisco 49ers - Ole Miss Texan

18.) Pittsburgh Steelers - steelbtexan

19.) Atlanta Falcons - RMartin65

20.) Houston Texans - Super Mario

21.) Cincinnati Bengals - Ole Miss Texan

I think Griffin should be a 2nd or 3rd rounder at best, doesn't have a high motor and seems lazy to me. Regardless, he fills a need for the Titans so not bad. :tiphat:

I was surprised Griffin went before Graham.

I think Griffin went at the end of the 2nd in our last mock.

I like Graham more than Griffin, but for the Tacks, Griffin actually sounds like a better pick.

Griffin is bigger and a bit faster which sounds like a Titan DE. Graham has a non-stop motor, but is a little smaller which I think makes him a little bit less desireable. But they are both first round picks in my eyes.

Also what is Derrick Morgan doing on the board still? I figured he would be a top 15 pick.

He did not by any chance send you the Pittsburgh pick as well? Because I am ready to make the Falcons pick, I am in a no lose situation here!

With the 18th pick in the Mock NFL draft the Pittsgurgh Steelers select Mike Iupati OG Idaho

The Steelers are committed to getting back to their roots, a more physical, run 1st type offense. Iupati is a great place to start recapturing their tradition.

Good pick. I like Iupati or Pouncey to the Stillers.

The Atlanta Falcons select Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech

I was stunned to see Morgan still available. He is the clear cut number 1 DE in the draft, and will boost the pass rush ability of the Falcons.

Griffen has the build and speed that the Titans look for in their DE's. Fisher played at USC and selected a USC guy.

I know that Griffin fell to the 2nd rd in the other mock. That was a mistake. IMHO

Jacksonville Jaguars

select -
QB Jimmy Clausen

:/ Really?

I mean are the Jags really that unhappy with Garrard, whom they recently gave a pretty big contract that they'd go after Clausen in the first!?

Wouldn't surprise me to see them go defense.
