Ravens @ Titans

I love the fact the refs screwed them. Makes the misery that much worse!!

Screw the Titans!
Screw Bud!!!

Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!

Yeah, the refs screwed up the delay of game no call. Just like the Oilers used to get cheated in the playoffs. The curse of Bud is alive in Possum Holler.

I hope it hurts Bud!

yes, but in slowmo it seemed to be a lifetime
I remember the OU-florida game where that happened and they said the ref saw the clock then look down and then look up and there was a second delay.. (not defending the ravens or refs but just saying)

How many times have you heard Titans fan say something along the lines of "Texans fans are saying "wait till next year" just like every year?

What are Titans fans saying right now? What is Bud Adams saying right now? Bud knows he's running out of years and every time he says "Wait till next year" at his age the odds that he won't be here next year go up. I personally hope his dying thought is "I never won a Super Bowl". Short of the Texans finally getting to the playoffs this is everything I could ask out of the postseason.

"Lard n' Tard" are "One n' Done"

Herv, I still think having a season like theirs and having "hope" is alot better than finding b.s. to be proud of in a .500 or losing season. Not the same

AND a bad call. AGAIN, I am not a Titan fan but you are either just a homer or blind to realize that a game winning drive was kept alive on a crucial 3rd down when a rule..that is black and white..was broken and the refs whiffed. It was a massive mistake. It added to the turnovers, penalties, etc..LIKE I SAID.

I'm going to be a dick for the first time in years on this board but if SOME Texans fans weren't delighted in the misfortunes of the Cowboys and Titans they wouldn't have crap to talk about.

Yes, it was a delay of game, but, you have to take into account the unknown factor. Who is to say that that still would not of been able to convert? Or, who is to say that they still convert the FG.

Was it a blown call, yes. Was it a game deciding call? No.

Where's Crowbreath?? Blazing something or another? Funny how he disappears like that. Him and his buddies would be all over this board if they had won. Why? Don't know, but they would.

The Titans are dead. :kingkong:

The Titans still had a chance to stop them from getting into FG range, too.

Bud is 86 years old. Nobody lives forever, but I almost hope Bud does. When he dies, the Titans might actually have a chance at a championship.

There are too many variables to take into account. Facts are 3 TO and a missed FG and giving up the first down on 3rd and 5, is what cost the Titans the game.

If you go in and take care of business like you should than things like this wont come back to bite you in the ass later.

What "b.s." are you talking about? I had "hope" for the Texans right up until they were eliminated from the playoffs just like any Titans fan had right up until the end of the game today.

What's not the same about that? I enjoy seeing the teams I like win and the teams I don't like lose so again what "b.s." are you talking about?

got a question. after the titans turnover at the one.. did the Qb throw the ball while his foot was out of bounds in the endzone? I swear I thought it was a safety on that but I could have been mistaken

was I drunk?

I didn't mean to raise hackles but I've never bought the fact that "wait until next year" applies to all but the SB winner. I've been here years and came here being a Cowboy fan and trying to become a good secondary Texans fan. I think I've done a good job. But I think it is "b.s" when people make excuses for the team, the schedule, the injuries, etc to justify still not getting over the hump. I'd rather be in the playoffs and fail then on the outside looking in...that is all. Sorry of I offended.

So did you not say wait till next year as a Cowboy fan?

You are right..they may have converted 3rd and 10...I just wanted to see it and not think about it. But we agree on one thing...3 TOs inside the 30 is killer...even 3 FG chances gives you the lead in all probability.

So did you not say wait till next year as a Cowboy fan?

Yeah I HAVE to wait until next year but 9-7 isn't acceptable and I don't gloss it. I think they underachived and were heartless and I have always thought they should do better since the 70s. The difference is that if I don't see SB or a playoff run it sucks. I don't want to talk progress. That is what I want for the Texans but I always read an almost acceptance of 8-8 like it is OK. It's not OK at this point. I'd rather be crushed over a playoff rush than not matter.

I know I'm disliked being a Cowboy fan but I'm pissed the Titans lost. Sue me. They screwed themselves with turnovers. Maybe I'm a bitterman but I hate for great games to be decided by crap refs but it happens yearly. The delay of game and all just sours me on a great smash mouth game. That was 3rd down and huge. It wasn't just a split second. It was at least 2 seconds after hitting 0. So the Titans screwed up with the turnovers inside the 30 but that doesn't mean they deserve to get effed by the typical old cadaver refs.

It was a bad call plain and simple. Maybe they wouldn't have converted with another 5 yards, maybe so. We know for certain the Titans were -3 and you win about 2% of the time in the NFL with that stat.

You have done a good job. I even grew up a Cowboys fan like you. I think your excuses rant is off base. Before the game the commentators noted most of the playoff teams were teams who had extremely low injuries, such as the Cards with 3 IR players. The Texans were the 1st team in NFL history to start their season with 4 playoff teams. Those are facts. Whether those facts count for nothing is an opinion. But bottom line, the Texans haven't succeeded yet. I see as many frustrated fans around here suggesting too many changes as I do folks making too many excuses with a wait til next year attitude.

With all due friendship and respect, Frog, I wonder what your thoughts would be of a team that you grew up loving left your city for BFE, USA and displayed Bob Lilly, Roger Staubach, etc...etc.. in their stadium "ring of honor." Boasted about "their own Tony Dorsett" and so on.

The whole thing is't right, I guess you have to live it to know the experience. There's more to it than that, but this example is one that, well, just isn't right. It tends to make you wish bad things on them and when they happen, you talk about it. (On our own board I might add)

I think the point that HoustonFrog was making was that its better to have a heartbreaking loss in the playoffs than start making mock drafts in December.

As much fun as it is to revel in the Titans misery, it'd be a lot better to have something of our own to look forward to

We do, its called the draft.

I know, I was talking more to another post, my bad for not quoting that one. Sorry HF. As it is, I'd much rather be a Texan today than a Titan...lol.

You nailed it!

However, I think I stepped in it here and I am sorry if I pissed some people off. That wasn't my intention...my main two points were

1) The Titans pretty much deserved a loss because of TOs but I hate seeing key moments screwed by refs and:

2) It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved........it is better to have been in the big dance and lost than to sit and find reasons why you can't get over the hump.

Sorry but as an outsider that has been here a bit I find it frustrating that there isn't more anger towards team progress. My bad. Enjoy the weekend

I'm sorry Frog but you're wrong about that.

"Wait till next year" is what you hear out of every single team that doesn't win the Super Bowl. The team that loses that game and it's fans start talking about "next year" the moment they lose that game. Once you're out then "Wait till next year" is pretty much universal.

Is it better to win than go .500 or lose?
Of course.
Is it better to make the playoffs than to not have made the playoffs?
Of course.

But we didn't make the playoffs and we didn't have a winning season so I'm taking a break from trying to find tidbits of news on our coaching hunt to enjoy the fact that the Tennessee Titans and their fans are saying to themselves "Wait till next year" and I see nothing wrong with that at all.

Nobody said I was satisfied with the 8-8 record of the Texans. What I think about the Titans loss today doesn't have anything to do with that.

Again, I wasn't here to stir it up. I'd just rather be waiting until next year a couple games away than still waiting to be good looking enough to be asked. But I get your point. It is times like the last couple of weeks that I wonder if I belong here.

What amazes me is that not one single person mentions the horrendous holding call that even the announcers commented on. It went the titans way, but that is ok because it went for the titans. Also on the series when the titans were backed up to the 2 yard line. On the second down run there was a holding that occurred in the end-zone. Which by rule would have been a safety against the titans. Refs blew calls on both sides as it always is.

You have a valid point about wanting to be at the dance versus not being at it, but do you think you might be in the wrong thread to mention it? Also, you might have picked a better time to mention it as well.

And I have no problem with that. I agree with you as I'm sure most of the Texans fans here do. We want to win. We want to be in the playoffs. We are not happy with 8-8 as our best season ever.

What does that have to do with enjoying the fact that the Titans are now waiting for next year just like we are? The answer is absolutely nothing. I'd much rather be pointing out that they're sitting at home and we're playing two weeks later but that will have to wait for.... (wait for it).... "next year".

Certainly, but the Texans missed out on the playoffs because they underachieved & quite frankly just didn't deserve a spot with our play. So to many seeing the Titans lose their first playoff game as a #1 seed is a bit of a consolation prize.

Sorry but as an outsider that has been here a bit I find it frustrating that there isn't more anger towards team progress. My bad. Enjoy the weekend

There certainly is a lot of anger in regards to the progress of this team, but you won't see it on a day like today when the Titans choke away their best shot at a SB in quite some time. It's similar to what I'd imagine a Cowboys fan might feel at seeing the Giants or Eagles choke away their chance at glory. Only this thing with the Titans is at another level with the organizations' history with Houston. It is tough for someone on the outside to see why such anger & resentment still festers in the hearts & minds of Texans fans. Until the Texans make that leap to becoming a playoff team this is all we are left with rooting against one of our most hated rivals. Perhaps over time as the Texans start making their own mark in the post-season some of this hatred for the Titans will lift, but who knows.

Again, I'm obviously barking up the wrong tree and in the wrong thread. I just took your first post that I responded to as they taunt us on next year and they are in the same boat. I'd just rather be in the other boat. But since this is a all antiTitan thread...understandable...I should not have spoken up. Sorry, I have repsect for you and others.

I can see an out and out hatred for Bud. I can see an out and out hatred for a rival. I guess I just figured more would have had some love for the players and Fisher..being moving wasn't their fault, even though it was long ago and the players aren't the same. I'm batting .000 tonight though. I haven't been in that situation.

I'm not going to get into this about the oilers/titans quit on me and all this other stuff. I'm not a guy that eats, breathes, and dies if the team wins or loses. That doesn't make me any less of a fan as it does the guy that paints his face with the team colors. I just see it as competion, that's it. Neither the texans not the titans pay the weekly diesel bills of my trucks. I felt bad about the buffalo fiasco, but it wasn't like life or death.

As for the hate bud adams and all that stuff, we've been over that a million times before. The mayor took business and made it personal, bud founf someone that met his needs/price and left. Its all business and its no different in sports. I didn't want to see them leave, but it is what it is. I'm still a fan of that team, but I follow and have a strong following with the Texans. Just like the old blues singer say, its cheaper to keep her. It was cheaper to give bud the stadium and stay vs paying 600m for franchise fee and 300m for the stadium. Not to mention, how many winning teams have the titans had since their start? Its all gravy, I just hope the texans can get into the playoffs and play well.

love their classy fans

Not looking for pity cause I know where all of you stand...

But I hurt bad tonite. Can't sleep. This one was right in the groin.

so I guess I was seeing double when I thought I saw a safety should have been called when the ravens qb may have stepped out of bounds in the endzone?

This was a very tough loss, one of the worst in franchise history on the hurt meter, but if you are really a fan at heart, all you can do is let time heal it and look forward to next year. It's a great game, but also very cruel for 31 teams every year. It's disappointing to see the team on the field that looked clearly like the better team -- but find a way to lose it with mistakes.

Really, one of worst in franchise history? :spit:

You should have expected it. It's the latest in a long series of "right in the groin". It's what they do. It's their M.O.

35-3. Then you can come and talk to me about hurt.

But on a compassionate side, I know how ya feel. It will only hurt till training camp. All you have to do is make it through baseball season.

A friend of mine from Toronto says it's really nice up there in the winter.

That said, hope you enjoyed winning less games than the Texans since December. Join us in laughing at teams that lost to the Cardinals

I was at Rich Stadium that day amigo...I know that pain more than you.

Sigh, fk this franchise lol.

That';s why we don't stop. Ask Red Sox fans after Aaron Boone or Buckner. They don't know why, but they come back for more.

Sports fans are idiots, when you think about it.

Actually I thought the same thing when I saw it. Thought Flacco took a step out. Must have just been the angle since no one else seems to have seen it.
