Size matters just like arm strength matters, like poise matters, like intangibles matter. It all matters. The point is there is no perfect prospect. You keep talking about Elway or Manning. Guess what? When they came out, their flaws were dissected as well. Nature of the beast.
The point I and some of the others are making is no one single flaw rules a guy out IF he shows he can play in the big picture. His size is the micro. I'm looking macro. Big picture. Show me he can play and I don't care much about the underwear olympics. The proof is in the pudding. Young can no doubt play. So, now it's up to scouts to determine how much the size factor comes into play. Some teams may have him off their board, others might take him down a notch, and yet others may not have a care in the world about it.
No matter which QB a team takes in the top half of the 1st rd, the GM, HC, OC, and scouting dept has to make their best choice based on all available info, and live with the consequences. If the new QB proves in a couple of years that he stinks, so be it. You bait your hook, and go fishing again... or you lose your job and life goes on. This isn't brain surgery. It's the Willy Wonka Chocolate factory of life.
Timidity gets you nowhere. You can't always be afraid to make a bold choice. Young is a bold choice. We can debate it until the cows come home. I love the kid. You don't.
One of us will be right and the other wrong. At the end of the day, it only matters what Nick, the scouts, and the other stakeholders believe about Young as well as the rest of the prospects.
