Welcome to Houston Will Anderson

Anymore on Martin signing?

My source (Aaron Wilson’s twitter account that I posted) said he came in for a visit the day after he was released.

I assume the team checked on how his recovery from the frayed patellar tendon is going. Knowing the Texans’ medical staff if there are any red flags that come up in the medical evaluation he will be signed asap.

Anderson is going to thrive in this role. Can’t wait to watch him impact games this fall!
My personal preference is for him to be in a 2-pt stance. Most of his impact I saw in college came from that stance so the familiarity would help ease his transition to the NFL. I'm also a fan because it allows for better pre-snap vision and offers more flexibility in where he comes from post-snap. However if they're concerned with his leverage or bend then I can see where a 3-pt stance would work better. He has a thick lower body and he did both in college, but IMO, the 3pt stance will give more of an opportunity for NFL tackles to get more of their body on him. Either way, I hope they get it right.

I’d love to see that production. Would mean the rest of the defense is benefiting from the attention DeMeco’s new Bosa will be forced to receive.
I try to be realistic especially after the last 3 seasons and all the stuff, but this time of year I feel the optimism and excitement starts to bubble. A good fart usually resolves that.

🤭

Yes, but are you going to be calling him a bust if he only has 5 sacks and 7 TFL? Many in Houston will if they set their expectations at 11 and 14

I don’t draw conclusions based on random stat lines. I’d like to think i’m not lumped in with the average mouth breather at this point in my Texans Talk career. I have a pretty consistent track record of letting the career play out organically before calling a duck a duck.

If we’re going to win 10 games somebody has to get 11 sacks. Greenard can’t stay healthy, Hughes isn’t likely to do it again, it’s gotta be Will…

If he doesn’t & we don’t win 10 games he’s a bust. Need to get him & Caserio dafuh outta here

Edit: nvm, I forgot if we don’t win 10 games Stroud is the bust, not Anderson. I think. I’ll have to go re-read some threads.

I agree with the first paragraph of your post. If the Texans are taking that AFC South banner then Will Anderson has to hit immediately. If he gets injured or does not make an immediate impact for whatever reason then this team will not be able to play to that level. Will Anderson will be the engine of the defense, just like Bosa in SF.

If he doesn’t work out i’ll go full passive fan like i’ve been since the KC playoff loss and the mess that’s followed. No sense wasting time being invested in a team that disappoints you. Definitely not going to be on here complaining about management’s decisions if this doesn’t work out. DeMeco brought my passion back. The Will Anderson move lit that flamethrower of homerism! I will not go back to the lowest lows!!!

Stroud will be a bust, Anderson joins Stingley in the rehab tent all season, Texans win four games, Casino is fired, followed by Ryans a year later.

Texans fulfill the wishes of the football gods and continue to suck.

Ryans then wins multiple SBs with someone else.

It's what the Texans do.

(Did I miss anything?)

I know you won't but you know many will, and unfortunately too many of those frequent this board

As. I have gotten older, I’ve learned to use that button a lot.
Nah, let a troll be a troll. Others know who he is.
From a year ago I posted this to one who follows me begging for recognition.
When I was a kid on a farm every time I entered the yard a hen would come running up like she had been waiting just for me. CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! I guess trying to convince me she was the main critter in the yard. CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! She would strut trying to imitate the yard roosters and once a day she'd lay an egg and then run all over clucking about this great event but often stepped on her own---- egg destroying the 'event'. My friend tolds me we should do away with that noisy old bird but hey she ate little and usually it was only her that stepped in her own crap sooner or later. The other farm animals just shook their heads and put up with

CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK!
🙂

Some drafts are better than others and the 2022 draft was seemingly lacking a standout, can't-miss, player. CBS did a "redraft" and dropped Walker to the 30th pick and moved Sauce Gardner to #1.

Interesting that Stingley goes #4 and Pitre makes it into the first round

I wish there was an elevated philosophical motive to my desire. But alas... no. Jags drafted Walker last year, we drafted Anderson this year. I want our guys to be better than their guys

I think Will is better. The only question is how good will he be. I think he's going to be a force but we'll see.

I've got high expectations since Caserio spent the Derrick draft booty on these 2 guys. Obviously they expect these guys to be difference makers right away. I expect 7-8 sacks from Anderson and Stroud to be a top 15 QB.

You forgot to mention incompetent, impatient ownership.

Watt got 5.5 as a rookie and many good QBs look terrible in year 1, of course either player with those results as a rookie would go into their second season needing to take a step forward and likely with some questions, but I would also think that if Stroud is top 20 by any measure AND Anderson has been that productive then he Texans will likely have achieved a respectable W-L record.

I expect them both to excel, but if they don't meet the lofty expectations that the media is touting, many here will turn on them and call them busts and want Caserio and Ryans fired. It's what TexansTalk does

Good point on Watt. Some didn't like the draft pick and after that 5.5 rookie season, they labeled him a bust. Shoot, there were even posts on this forum that Mills was the best rookie QB in his class and was better than Lawrence. After that rookie year, would anyone still take Mills over Lawrence?

Who cares what random people on here say? I just want them to win. I don’t care whether the production comes from Mills or Stroud… or even Anderson or Greenard.

Yes sir totally agree here because Caserio shot his wad on young Mr Anderson so I will be disappointed with anything less than a double digit rookie season.
Folks Casserio went to nothing less than historic levels in terms of exchanging consideration to trade up with the Cards for the #3 pick, i.e. he pulled out all of the stops.

I already want Caserio fired.

If the defense can't tackle I want Demeco to address it & fix it. If Slowick has run up the A-gap as the brunt of his offense, I want him gone.

Won't have anything to do with any particular player or his stats.

That said, looks like Caserio has turned the corner & is heading in the right direction. & I'm as hyped as anyone on the excitement of DeMeco as our headcoach & rooting for him & his staff.

I remember Jj was just getting into his groove at the end of his rookie season. I don't recall anyone thinking he was a bust

Yep, I don’t recall anyone claiming he was a bust when he got a pick six in the playoffs. Along with 14 tackles and 3.5 sacks in two playoff games. Superstar Watt began in the playoffs his rookie season.

I have never said anything I regret.

Whoops...

I'm going to report this. I think someone hacked steel's account.

Whoever you are, let steeltexan go NOW and return his account!

No that’s the real deal. It looks complimentary, but he’s pushing it towards unrealistic setting up his tirade to come at a later date.

For instance, “everyone” thinks Trevor Lawrence is the truth. But he had a crappy rookie season. Mills & Mac Jones (Alabama) had pretty good rookie seasons but are now outside looking in.

I’m not making excuses, just saying, the rookie season is only part of the equation.
