DW4 Traded to Cleveland

Difference makers don’t go 4-12
Can’t be a difference maker if your defense doesn’t hold the fort down. I guess you don’t remember all the games he took us down the field scored, took the lead, less than 1-2 minutes on the clock, and the defense gives up winning drives. We’re talking about at least 10+ games that that happened.

Again F that clown boy but let’s not act like he wasn’t a darn good quarterback out there.

Matt Ryan is going to help some more talented team be this year’s Matt Stafford. He almost got another 4000 yard passing year with just Kyle Pitts and Cordarelle Patterson as NFL caliber targets. No Ridley and Julio this year and he still had a solid season.

I hope the Falcons pay out the nose for the diva and get the same or worse results. While Ryan goes to a contender and gets back to the playoffs. He deserves it.

I don’t care about garbage time statistics. He got outplayed by Mitch Tribuski at Soldier Field. Lol

When I was a kid on a farm every time I entered the yard a hen would come running up like she had been waiting just for me. CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! I guess trying to convince me she was the main critter in the yard. CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! She would strut trying to imitate the yard roosters and once a day she'd lay an egg and then run all over clucking about this great event but often stepped on her own---- egg destroying the 'event'. My friend tolds me we should do away with that noisy old bird but hey she ate little and usually it was only her that stepped in her own crap sooner or later. The other farm animals just shook their heads and put up with

CLUCK,CLUCK..CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK!

I predicted the Browns were out first. Check. Then I predicted the Panthers were out. Check.

My prediction now is that it is dirty bird ATL that Watson will choose and he has made his decision internally which is why rumblings have popped up in different spots, however, the next couple days is to get Matt Ryan traded, hammer out the final details of the trade between Atlanta and Houston, possibly restructure his contract with ATL to open up cap space in the first few years of the contract and reduce the financial hit of a multigame suspension in 2022, and possibly restructure some of ATL players contracts to open up more space. ATL may have committed to finding an acceptable WR(s) for DW in FA prior to his official signoff...perhaps bringing Julio back or reuniting with Will Fuller? Lots of moving parts here to "clean things up" as moving Ryan will have a big dead cap hit.

Also, remember March Madness opening weekend is this weekend. Also some more big NFL and MLB contracts should be announced in the next few days to further clear the stage for him. No doubt DW wants some Lebron like spotlight here and will make his official announcement/press conference on Monday (possibly Tuesday) when the sports calendar is more cleared up for HIM to shine. EGO.

All I care about at this point is we get that #8, 2023 and 2024 1s, AJ Terrell, and hopefully a few 2s as well. We will see what Caserio is made of and if he can be trusted to not get fleeced after this trade. If I were him I'd ask for some round 4 or 5s to get thrown in just for S&Gs to show he is in charge and make the trade really have that WOW factor in terms of quantity of assets gained. JMO.

And I am sure we can find games where Dan Marino, Joe Montana, and Peyton Manning got "outplayed" by QBs we have never heard of or do not remember anything about. Cherry-picking doesn't make your argument.

Thankfully all of this BS arguing will be over soon. Even though the Diva is going to stretch this out as long as possible. I'm sure he will be receiving council from several massage therapists over this weekend, so a decision should be coming soon.

Since Ryan put off receiving his bonus money until Tuesday, I would expect Ryan to be traded by Monday night and Derrick to be traded soon there after.
The Falcons have until Monday 4:00PM before his $7.5 MM bonus kicks in. If Falcons find a taker for Ryan and consummate the deal, the DW4 trade could be announced as early as today or this weekend.

I was New Orleans I would try to get a team to trade for Ryan and then trade with them to get Ryan on the Saints. If Ryan has a no trade clause it could be done and he could play against his old team. Almost similar to what Favre did but in the same year.

Yeah since sitting on the bench moping with a towel over his head sure showcased his leadership abilities.

You're just a basher. If he was over there cheerleading, you'd say he was a clown drawing attention to himself. Dude is a winner and will take Atlanta to a SB given enough time and if they can build a quality D.

I understand the hate for Watson around here, I truly do. But why is everyone surprised that teams are trying to get rid of their Qbs? Baker and the Browns were poised for divorce regardless of Watson, the writing was on the wall for Matt Ryan, especially once Stafford left Detroit and won a SB. I even floated the idea early in the season for us to grab him this off-season. Watson is in his prime and on the field a difference-maker. Teams were going to throw themselves at him once given the opportunity, and now they have it. And of course, it's teams looking to split from whatever QB they currently have, so why are you guys acting surprised?
LMAO. I hope this is over soon. I'm just reading and laughing at the pettiness of some of these posts.

Unfortunately it won’t because we all know another player or front office personnel with get falsely blamed by a few.

We all know who will be the those guys. Lol

I think we already had hints of this, but looks like Watson may be seeking a new contract, not just a simple restructure.

It was posted yesterday that part of the new deal is a restructure where he gets paid as low as $1 million this season, that way if he gets suspended he avoids taking a massive financial hit. You may hate him, but as a business decision, it's smart.

Very smart for him. Play the game. Yes, in anticipation of a 6-8 game suspension - no reason to forgo millions of $. Just force a restructure to where you don't get paid anything the first year but you get the roster bonues, etc... later. Again, all this stuff is being worked in the background to "clean things up". ATL is the pick. Dirty Watson will be a dirty bird. JMO.

I don't hate anyone, and yes...its business. Hopefully nothing in my post indicated hatred. Just posting information that may be correct or not.

But he is apparently seeking more than a simple restructure, and may want more guaranteed money in years 3 and 4.

They can’t keep this a secret. Rappaport & Schefter would be all over any hint or whisper.
Sure, but how many teams will be on the phone with Atlanta? Indy, Cleveland, Seattle? Any others? A deal likely won't be made until Atlanta is certain Watson is choosing them over NO. Unless they, of course, want to trade Ryan irregardless of Watson and don't want to pay the bonus.

The estimates of the compensation the Texans might receive have been getting more and more extravagant in this thread.
My best guess is that some of you are going to be sorely disappointed based on what you're thinking they will get in return for Watson.

I do hope I'm wrong however.

Personally, I expected him to go to jail and be out of football and for us to get zilch for him.

Just getting him out of here and getting something in return for him is a huge win in my book. Everything is icing on the cake at this point for me. Would I like to have as much as possible? Yeah, but I'm happy just having some cake with some icing.

Matt Ryan 2022 Salary = $16.25MM + $7.5MM option roster bonus = $23.75MM

Salary Cap Space:
Indy = $41,555,729
Seattle = $33,184,954
Cleveland = $11,977,601/$30,557,601 w/o Mayfield.

Cleveland would add $18,858,000 by trading Mayfield.

This could turn into a 3 team trade and why the extra time is needed. ie; Cleveland would have to trade Mayfield to Indy before they could trade for Ryan.

Mayfield to Indy ---->Ryan to Cleveland---->Watson to Atlanta

I think it’ll be as much as Wilson or slightly less. I highly doubt an all pro on his rookie contract like AJ Terrell is part of the package. More likely a solid vet like Grady Jarrett.

But I would be happy to be wrong…

Sorry, my post didn't necessarily mean YOU hate him, just some people on here do and are mad at everything he does.

Except if he gets to smart Goodell might just make an example out of him. Put him on CEL the first year so he still gets paid the 1 million and then suspend him the next year. I'm not saying he would or should do that, though it wouldn't break my heart, but Watson seems to forget that the NFL and Goodell can pretty much do whatever they want and there is no out smarting them.

Yeah of course, but I highly doubt they would ever do that.

I didn’t see anything in your post with hatred intentions. Some fans are grossly in love with that clown boy. Nothing he does is wrong in their eyes. To them they think it’s good business practice.

Typical of Watson and his agent. Keep on squeezing and asking for more. Carolina was smart to say no which we know Watson doesn’t like to hear.

Atlanta is making a risky deal. I would be concerned to be signing a player backed out on a contract he signed 4 months earlier, who backed out because he didn’t get consulted on the GM and HC pick, a player that just went through criminal sexual assault allegations, has been out of the game for a year, and is looking for more guaranteed money.

As a Texans fan I am concerned that this will fall apart over the weekend.

Hurry up. Sign. Give me the draft picks. Whatever scrubs that come with.

Even if Watson wins a Super Bowl with Atlanta I want no part of that. I would rather lose and be able to keep the team’s integrity than make deals and win that win a player like that.

I’m glad DeShaun is taking some time for himself over the weekend. It’s been a stressful year, hopefully he can relax and take his time with his decision. Maybe get a massage to help relax.

I’m sure he makes them (masseuse) sign waiver now, before services rendered.

I know the Texans history, therefore, I will not be that disappointed for long. I will call them out if they do not get equal value or more. But to their credit, they do have a new GM who I really don’t see him get raked of the coils like that. Time will tell here shortly.

Obviously if we get anything less than the next 5 full drafts and the 5 best young starters from whatever team Watson gets traded to then it will be confirmation that the Texans are a useless franchise and Caserio was never worthy of the GM role. Anything less than that would be, well realistic........

I will be satisfied to get the same as Wilson. Anything more is good.

There will be some that will say Caserio didn’t get enough.

But there is always someone complaining.
