Saw this on the Horns board. Surely this guy can beat out Tyler Thigpen.

It wasn't that long ago that Michael Vick was #3 on the Eagles team. Never know.
Where's all those UT homers that were certain that VY was a HOFer?
They are out there blaming the NFL coaches VY has had, blaming the NFL receivers VY has had to throw to, blaming the NFL offensive lines VY has had to play behind.
Yes. You're right.
I would add this: They never let Vince do what Vince does. Only Mac Brown was smart enough to let Vince do what Vince does. Oh, wait a second...except THAT was against college talent and not against NFL talent. My bad.
In fact, Vince faced a USC defense that I think was ranked well below many other title contenders that year. He wasn't facing the NCAA's top defense. NCAA teams also have a roster made up of freshmen, sophomores, juniors...not all players on a defense are seniors. So Vince Young was facing defenders who were right out of high school. It's not like Vince dominated his entire time at UT.
Perspective by UT/VY homers was cast aside once he won the title game. As if that one performance existed within a vacuum. This is why, IMO, the brain trust of the Texans decided he would not be a smart #1 pick by us. It had nothing to do with racism. It was 100% perspective-based analysis.
it's not every day that God drops you a gift from the sky. DRAFT VINCE YOUNG.
I'm a UT "homer" who never wanted VY or thought he'd do as well as he did in Tackland.Where's all those UT homers that were certain that VY was a HOFer?
The key phrase is "Defenses in the Big 12...."
Plus, USC was severely lacking (in terms of strength on defense) in that title game. USC was in a weak conference and rode its own highly potent offense to the title game.
If anything, Reggie and Vince led two powerhouse offense-heavy teams to face each other in the title game...and it was a scoring battle all night long.
But when they got to the NFL, the parameters if their "excellence" soon changed very dramatically.

"Pick Vince Young, don't mess up this one. When it's all said and done Pick Vince Young!"

I don't know what was worse in that video, the music or the David Carr "highlights."

This
Was Cushing on that USC defense?

Of course, NONE of those people were Texans fans to being with, and NONE of them have the balls to come back to admit they were completely wrong about VY's imminent SB wins and HoF induction. Freakin' typical fanboys.
You don't seem to understand DB. They are not about to admit to anything, they believe he still has a chance to be the greatest NFL QB ever. He just needs to be in the right system surrounded by the proper supporting cast.
He (VY) doesn't have to prove jack $#@!. His record stands on its own. What we are lobbying for is for him to GET A CHANCE THIS SEASON, which he may not even get due to the incomprehensible negativity that seems to surround the public's perception of him these days.
Wow! That is some extreme fanboyism right there. Since when does an NFL coaching staff rank players on public perception over skill?
You know like the coaches really make their decisions by what fans say on messageboards.
What's funny (in the context of that thread) is this guy was replying to some sane UT fans that were getting on him for bragging about how he is spewing that nonsense on the Bills official board.
He thinks by posting a couple of Youtube videos (the Cardinals and Texans OT game .. basically the only good NFL highlights of VY that exist) and telling everyone over there how great VY is, that somehow he is going to help VY win a starting job. That is his way of "lobbying" for VY.

I'll always root for VY through thick and thin. I'm just saddened and disappointed by how his career has gone down. He had some success here and there and he also had some improvements as well at the end of his 3rd season. He was pulled a little to early in his 4th season the minute he made a mistake or so, but he never bounced back after that, and it's been downhill ever since on and off the field. He has also made a lot of poor financial decisions and trusted bad people. I'd love to see VY make a come back, but after watching how he played in Philly, I don't ever see it happening. IF he couldn't play fairly well in Philly, I don't see him playing well anywhere. He'll most likely remain as a back up for the rest of his career.

FIFY...He just needs to be in the right system surrounded by college players.

VY is rumored to owe 1.6 miilion dollars and missed a payment on the loan which means the lender can call for it to be paid in full . Quick horn fans go to his steak house .
Mattress Mac's daughter and her husband are partners with VY at the steak house . I think she's doing plugs for her Dad to raise money for Vince .
