The time for the team to quit on O’Brien is NOW!

Quitting? No. But I can see them no longer buying into what the HC is selling, and that can make it seem like they’re quitting.

These guys bust their asses to go out there and win a football game. Imagine doing that every single week and every single week coaching doesn’t put you in the best position to get those wins. It’s going to get really frustrating after a while. Your effort may still be there, but your heart, not so much.

Losing sucks. And it takes a toll. And I’m not talking about going out there and beating bad to mediocre teams and piling up enough wins to hang cute little banners. I’m talking about once you do that and play real football teams, you find you’re not even close to that level. Year after year after year. That gets old.

So I don’t think the players quit on the field, per se, but they can stop buying into management’s message.

I agree. I think there is enough gross incompetence throughout the staff that they will lose the locker room and guys will not care about the message. They will perform their jobs, but you will see a step back in their fire on the field.

Sadly, who is in position to recognize this and take responsibility of making the necessary change(s)? OB is who he is and the EVP of Football Operations is Jack Easterby :thumbdown. So between Janice/Cal McNair and Jack Easterby, who is going do what's in the best interest of the football product. It seems as though OB is who they want. I noticed the Texans organizational chart has been updated by separating into functional departments (at least on paper). https://www.houstontexans.com/team/front-office-roster/

I keep hearing this false narrative now and again.
If they quitted, how were the games so close?
Chiefs 16-17; first game for Keenum ; Chiefs were a playoffs team
Colts 24-27; playoffs team
Cards 24-27; 10-6 record, just missed the playoffs
Raiders 23-28
Jaguars 6-13
Pats 31-34, playoffs team
Jaguars 20-27
Kubiak replaced by Wade; Keenum injured his thumb.

lol I noticed u left off that Rams game...which is the game the quit was initiated in. They were beat down by a terrible team at home led by Sam Bradford ...fans were booing Schaub and Kubiak by extension for sticking with Schaub b/c he had that consecutive pick 6 streak going ........that looked like it was about to come to an end....until TJ Yates came in for him after he got hurt and extended it for him. The only TD we scored was in garbage time.

& With the exception of those Chiefs and Colts games, The scores for most of those other games we were never in. They really only reflect garbage time scoring and numbers. Keenum in that Arizona game running around like a chicken with his head cut off, taking bad sacks...it was awful.

Kubiak knew he was losing the team..dude was out there having heart attacks and ****..

You always try to move the goal post.
Let me remind you, the point is about whether the team quit on Kubiak or not.
OK?

Cardinals - End of third, Texans trailed 17-20; the Texans pulled within 3 and get the ball back with 2:06 left; they just couldn't get into FG range.

Raiders - The Texans trailed by 5 with over 8 minutes to go; they had two more possessions, but Schaub couldn't do much with them; even the second drive was still with plenty of time (3:43 to go).

Jags - The Texans trailed 6-10 at the end of 3rd; after the Jags kicked another FG to go ahead by 7, the Texans still had two more offensive drives, again, with plenty of time.

Pats - The Texans led 24-21 at the end of third; the Texans then pulled ahead 31-28, but the Pats tied it at 31.
After the Pats went ahead 34-31, the Texans mounted a 7-play drive but couldn't get into FG range.

Jags - The Texans trailed 20-24 with 9:30 go; Schaub led them on a long drive ,but the Texans failed to convert on 3rs and 1 and 4th and 2 from the Jags 13. The Texans D held, but Schaub threw an INT on the next drive; the Jags get the ball at HTN's 21 yd line and kick another FG to ice the game.

There weren't any quitting by the players.

I can remember posts similar to this one after the 0-3 start a couple of yrs ago.

And just like 2018, this team will get its butt handed to it in the playoffs should they beat the odds and even make it.

O'Brien has never fielded a team that can compete with the great teams in the league. 6+ seasons and counting <----that should be what you're tracking. . .

I am,

I also realize it's going to be a long 4 yrs whether BOB's still here for them or not. (He probably wont be.) This is just like Dallas replacing Garret which I was for and replacing him with McCarthy. Many of Dallas same issues exist with McCarthy that were there with Garrett.

It's time for a new HC in Houston but you're fooling yourself if you think a new HC is the answer to most of the Texans problems. It wiil take time and a new personnel dept to fix what's wrong with the Texans. You know what the main issue is with both Dallas and Houston franchises? Ownership, they've allowed things to be run into the ground for Dallas 20 yrs and for Houston the better part of 15 yrs of mismanagement.

So who was that talking about Jay Gruden’s offense was looking better and more explosive....Well right now on Thursday night football, they’re offense is looking real explosive......as in explosive diarrhea against an 0-2 Dolphins squad.

It happens to every team. Sometimes they will look explosive and some games they won’t. Shoots last Sunday the high octane scoring Chiefs didn’t look explosive either.

I don’t move the goalposts...I just like trolling you. All Ihave to do is drop “Keenum” an/or “Kubiak” in my posts lol.
No, it doesn't matter which name you drop, as long as they are blatantly incorrect, I will have a word.
And it doesn't matter whether it's you or anybody else.
I've always been doing it.

You mean like The Ravens have the last 2 years under Harbaugh? Ask a Ravens fan if it was any less disappointing.....deflating...angering that they went 1 and done the last 2 seasons with the most exciting player in the league, MVP and the best record in the league.

You guys are looking for a reason to throw your support behind the team..a reason to “believe” and are using the regular season record as some sort of “proof” that maybe that means they can go all the way. Reality is, it don’t mean **** and Even when you think you have this “team that can compete with the great teams” or in the Ravens’ case a team with the best record, it means very little in a league with a playoff structure where 1 loss and you’re done...

A lot of you guys remind me of that character Randy Quaid played in those major league movies. “ so what, they’ll blow it in the playoffs!” Lol. From my perspective, you either believe or you don’t and so many people allow what happens in 1 or 2 weeks to color their fandom. Season’s a marathon.

blatantly incorrect? Lol no. 1 mans trash is another’s treasure is more like they correct statement. You obviously believe certain things about certain players and coaches that others dont..let’s just leave it at that.

I'm not that crazy about John H., but he did have a ring and have two other trips to the Conference.
He gets a pass, especially with Lamar being 21 in 2018 and only played half a season.

Also, the main thing for most fans is that their team looks competitive against contending teams for the most part.
When two top 5-6 teams play, there's no telling which one would win.

But yeah, his seat should be warming.

Yeah, but I have the proofs.
You only have your opinions and fuzzy math. :corrosion:

You have nothing but unobjective, skewed stats. And when your unobjectivity and contrived trash stats are called out, you respond with statements like “you ask for too much” and “what was he supposed to do?”

If that was the main factor, then there wouldn’t be so much bitching when the team does win. My theory is, many of the so called Texans fans wanna be entertained before anything else. In many of their minds winning is a byproduct of being entertained and They don’t truly enjoy the game for what it is...the greatest team sport in the world.

The proof is in that 2018 season. All you heard on this board and on the radio during a historic 9 game winning streak was “yeah but.....”. many of them just couldn’t enjoy it....b/c it wasn’t against dominant competition...or because they weren’t dominant wins...or because of this or that...It’s always something.

Every year 30 other teams fail to win the SB...20 something others fail to make the postseason & at least 10 don’t even hit .500. Reading some of the content on this board, you’d think we we’ve been the Lions for the last 20 years. I’m not saying anyone should be happy with what we’ve done and I’m not trying to tell anyone how to fan, but jeez, you gotta wonder about the psychology of those who hit this board every day week just to whine and complain about things..even when they’re going ok.

IMHO, everybody has the right to their own opinions and I'll let them be..
Unless it's too over the top.
I mean I like banters with Steelb when he's of a different opinion.
Without difference in opinions, it would be too dull, LOL.

Calling who out?
SteelB, I've known him for years when we talk drafts.
I see him as a friend.
Like i have a brother in law, we bumped head about football often (like regarding KJax), but he's still my best football party buddy.
We see eyes to eyes about OB from the start though. LOL.

Your post almost reads like you think hes over the top. Is that not the case?

I welcome dissenting opinions.

Nope, just stubborn in a few instances.
The only time I totally disagree with him is the 2-14 that Kubiak inherited vs O'Brien. The cap space alone makes a big difference, and those are both facts and truth.

As far as Watson goes, it's free range. He or corrosion or anybody else can go at it all day long.

Through 2 games, Watson has not been good.

Hello, we're on Kubiak and Keenum here.

no, YOU’RE on Kubiak and Keenum. I’M on your whole schtick in general in that you’ll pull out every excuse known to man defending the indefensible for your guys whether it’s Kubiak, Keenum or like yesterday Phillip Rivers. You just can’t be objective and the dialogue we’ve had over the last few weeks pretty much proves my point when it comes to you.

No, it was you who pulled Kubiak and Keenum in.
I did not start it.

The Reader discussion against the Brown's illustrates this point perfectly.

Same thing applied here.
I said if you accused somebody, you need to bring proofs.
If you don't have proof then your opinions carry little to no value.
If you want to have a "discussion"/"semi-formal argument", you need to have more than "I stand by my opinions", or "2-14" is all that matters.

yup, yet another instance.
As for Mr. Tex, being stubborn is losing an argument, say like your bogus claim of the players quitting on Kubiak.
When you know I had totally dispell the myth, you kept trying to circumsnavigate and try to steer thing somewhere else to avoid admitting that your "opinion" has zero basis.

You don't believe any 'proofs' unless they'reyour proofs. You refuse to acknowledge that all eyes may not see the same
