They give 10 bucks or 10 million, who cares? And I mean that in a sense that it has nothing to do with football which is the only thing that gives the name Houston Texans meaning to me. If David Johnson gave his time and money to a charitable cause, good for him and more importantly the charity he’s giving to. It still doesn’t mean I want him on this football team.
The Texans do a ton of charitable work, make tons of donations. I’m not going to judge them for how much they donate or which charities they choose to donate to. Most of us give what we can to our charities of choice. IMO, it's just something you're supposed to do, if you've got the means to do so. That said, most of us aren't plastering those contributions all over social media trying to gain favor either. That, to me, says more about you than the amount of a contribution.
Now, I get the world we live in where anything a big business does, particularly one heavily in the public eye like a sports franchise is, usually comes with a photo op. So that is what it is. I do think it's one thing for reporters to report that, and quite another having your own PR machine pumping it out there on every social platform there is. Hey! Looky what we did!
So thank you Janice for helping out when you didn't have to, whatever it is you chose to give. Now let's get back to this dumpster fire called a football team, which is why any of us even know what your name is.
