My father was a Cowboy fan and so am I.
God what crap.
Who was a kid in the 1980s-90s suposed to cheer for? The Oilers?
It is really irritating all the posers we have here in our town. Guys like HoustonFrog that actually lived in Dallas and grew up Cowboys fans get a pass. My own mother is actually a similar case. She grew up in Dallas, loved Dallas especially the Tom Landry days, and never wanted to move. Then she met my dad, and he takes a job in Houston and brings her down here.
The ones that irritate me are guys like one of my really good friends. This guy is always bouncing around from team to team based on what team is hot. He has consistently been a Cowboys fan, but only because he wanted to root for a winner in the 90s. His dad was an Oilers fan, he was born and raised in Houston, yet has no love for Houston sports. His teams: Cleveland Indians (wanna take a guess when he jumped on that bandwagon), Boston Red Sox (another easy guess), and the Dallas Cowboys.
I find fans like this to be the most pathetic kind.
If you've been a fans through Dave Campo and Quincy Carter, you are not a bandwagon fan.

I live in Port Arthur Texas.
Am I allowed to be a Houston Texans Fan? Or a Cowboy's fan? Or a Saints fan?
Sorry, but I was never an Oilers fan.
What?I grew up in Ft. Worth. Lived there 23 years. Came here for law school and have been here since. There are alot of transplants that deal with work, etc. I have been a Cowboy fan since the 70s. So people are suppose to stay one place all their life to be a fan? Please move along.

If people want to hop teams and are not loyal to their hometown team that is fine it's just a freaking game for you and me to enjoy. The word entertainment ring a bell? Seriously.
it is a job for the players and the front office. But, what is it to the average Joe? A game to watch and something to do. If I keep juming teams and you think I am not loyal that is fine but that does not have anything to do with your favorite team so I should not care.I reject the notion that sports is simply entertainment. It's more a way of life. Eeh, that isn't the phrase I'm looking for. I can't make that sound quite right but I hope you get my drift.
I'm simply not motivated to explain my reasons for being a Cowboys fan. It is what it is, and I'm 100 percent sure that won't be changing. Hopefully, the positive relationships with people will not be determined by my choice of a team. If it does, I guess it's good information to have.
Yes. Yes. and Yes. If you lived in Houston that is. Have some pride in your hometown.
AppleKidneyPie doesn't take pride in anything American or related to the US. Ask 'em how he feels about Manchester United though.

Bud Light Presents Real Men of Genius (Real Men of Genius)
Today, we salute you, Mr. Obsessive Dallas Cowboys Fan (Mr. Obsessive Dallas Cowboys Fan)
Every year, you announce to everyone that we are going all the way, like you are somehow part of the team all while sitting in an office building in western Iowa. (Were Americas Team!)
Sleeping through meetings? Ignoring your boss? Stabbing your co-workers in the back and ruining their careers? It must be OK because T.O. does it all the time. (I love me some me!)
Injuries? Tough road games against better teams? Bad weather? It doesnt matter. You proudly announce that the 'Boys will win every week, and then find ways to lose games that you really should win, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. (Leon, get away from that ball!)
So crack open an ice-cold Bud Light, you big tuna of the gridiron. But just remember to tell your pal Michael Irvin that its the only time that the word crack is okay. (Mr. Obsessive Dallas Cowboys Fan!)
The REAL Dallas Cowboy fans live in Arlington.
Don't get me wrong, but what is wrong with someone choosing to follow the best team. I understand if they keep hopping from one team to the next, but if the objective is to find a team you like, what's wrong with choosing the best team of your childhood?Yes it is a game, but part of the fun of the game is competition. Not only competition ON the field, but competition with opposing fans. I don't have a problem with people picking a team they want to root for. My personal take is it takes a real weenie to simply pick a team though because of how good they are, especially when that team is not your hometown, or the team closest to your hometown. It just seems dumb to me, but I certainly am not going to end relationships over something like that.
I guess the real issue is when a douche bag Cowboy fan that has NEVER lived in Dallas or near Dallas rubs it in your face about how bad the Texans suck and how good the Cowboys are that rubs me the wrong way. Sure as a kid, it would have been easier for me to root for the Cowboys than the Oilers. Now, it would likely be easier for me to root for the Cowboys than the Texans. But as a fan, I think taking the easy way is the weenie way.
