It would be quite an understatement to say I'm disappointed in Bullock.
dude is blowin it.
but he's still young and an aggie so he isn't going anywhere
You guys might need to start worrying about Foster also, looks really malcontent and isn't exactly getting any younger.

I am disappointed as well, but kickers need time to progress as well. I remember watching Matt Prater as a rookie playing for Denver. Fans were calling for his head because he kept missing kicks.
Prater's now regarded as one of the "elite" kickers in the league. So I'm willing to stick with Bullock for a bit and see what he has. He obviously has the leg strength, and that's already half of what he needs as a kicker.

Texans Twitter:
"He's got to be a pro and bounce back. He's our kicker and we have confidence in him." Kubiak on @randybullock28
your ****ing kidding right?Where we need the help wanted sign is
Understand. Meaningless though. I wouldn't expect him to say anything else for another week, maybe two. If this continues they'll go in another direction. Too much riding on this season. The Texans think they're going to contend for a Super Bowl appearance this year. Bad kicking isn't going to allowed to derail that I don't think.

I don't think his age or the "Aggie Connection" will save him. That stuff has to be more or less automatic and he's a train wreck back there. We've seen kickers sent packing for far less than he's done in just two weeks. Maybe last weeks game winner buys him some more time but look in his eyes. That young man is thinking too much and he's going to keep missing. There's not a doubt in my mind that the Texans coaches are thinking the same thing.
I bet Bullock doesn't make it two more weeks without some incredible, unforeseen change in his performance
Yes, I think 30 yarders are supposed to be automatic, but not 50 yard kicks. Not many kickers can knock down 50 yard kicks, you can probably count them on one hand.
It's his second game ever in the NFL, and he was missing from 50 yards out. People need to chill.

There have been some really good kickers who had a little trouble there first few games then turned it around and became great. Let's give him a little more time.
I agree that he needs to be doing better, but let's not forget that most of his misses were from around 50 yards. Those are tough kicks to make for even the better kickers.
If he starts missing from 30 yards out, we need to be looking in a different direction.

I'm sure he is but an extra point would be a challenge at his age. :kubepalm:Is Tony Zendejas available?
Doesn't disprove my point though. I didn't say just making a 50 yard kick, I said knocking them down as if it's some automatic thing and to be expected. It's not. He missed difficult kicks, it's not like he missed chip shots.
A lot of those guys aren't taking many of them. Some of the best ones (Zurlein...) has missed about half of them.
I'm still scratching my head as to how Bullock was drafted when Zurlein was still available (had to be an Aggie Kubiak pressure). But I think you need to review Zurlein's stats a little closer............in the past 2 years, he has routinely hit on 50-60 ydrs (13 in 2012).......not to mention the 45-50 ydrs.

That's why I mentioned Zurlein, he's known as one of the elite kickers in the NFL and while he's made the most of them, it's not the best percentage. (from 50 yards or more)
All I am saying though is that 50 yard kicks are not gimmes or automatic kicks. Bulloch is 0-4 on those right now I think, or 0-3 I think? I'm not excusing him but he missed 2 50 yarders this game, and a 46 yarder IIRC. It's some tough luck, I think the guy has the leg (he made the 51 yarder that the Titans called a TO on, right down the middle) and it has to be a pressure thing. Hopefully he'll get over it because I do think he has the leg to become kicker that has the distance...but if he doesn't then we should be able to get any vet kicker that is more reliable.
I agree with you about these not being gimmes. But when you look at Zurlein's college FG stats, they were been laden with 50-60 ydrs.......Bullock's were not. Zurlein's college long FG stats have been predictable of his NFL performance........so has Bullock's.
Any list of FA kickers.. including UDFA that's caught anyone eyes?
