My problem with keeping Schaub is I'm not sure if we can just sign him to one more year. I think to get him back we'd have to opt for the three year extension that was part of his original contract. Problem with Schaub is he hasn't been terrible this year but like this past Sunday he's made costly turnovers in the form of pick 6s.
I'm not posting after a few months to blast the organization, but while Cushing has exceeded my expectations, Barwin has struggled for the most part, and Caldwell hasn't seen the field. I think we needed a much bigger contribution from both draft spots then we have gotten, and frankly I'm a bit dumbfounded that Alex Gibbs has not been able to round out the line better then what it is. Is it on the RBs? Not getting the right players for a system? Again I have trouble pinpointing what is exactly the disconnect with a guy whose OLs have been highly productive and produced a consistent running game wherever he's been but here.
Jones is finally looking like a contributor, but is he good enough to take over #2 if we don't resign KW? I don't think so. Molden also hasn't found his way on the field and has seen two rookies leapfrog him.
I guess I am saying overall the talent on the team has improved but, there's still something oddly wrong about the way they go about evaluating talent. Does that go on Kubiak? Smith? Bob McNair's pension for players nice as Mr. Rogers? Bobby Grier?
I think it is made harder by the ambiguous way personnel decisions seem to be spread between Kubiak and Smith. Front office needs to be cleaned out IMO.
