Yet Hoyer started in the playoffs
Another piss poor decision by OB?
Yet Hoyer started in the playoffs
I think you accidentally put a question mark on that.
I'd like to be in the meeting room when O'Brien tries to sell Hackenberg and his tape to the scouts, staff, Smith, and the McNairs. I can see the looks on their faces while Billy pumps up Hack as the Texans QB of the future. "WTF? Are you trying to get everyone fired?"
Not happening.

McCain? How did he get in the convo?

OB will be showing them the OB-Hack videos. McNair has already announced to the world the Texans will address the QB position and it's the top priority, what's he going to do? 3 year old tape? I guess everyone will get fired.OB will be showing them the OB-Hack videos. McNair has already announced to the world the Texans will address the QB position and it's the top priority, what's he going to do? Sign Sam Bradford?
To me he was the best option. Look at the Eagles for example, McNabb went down and AJ feely and Jeff Garcia were the hot hands, yet Reid still reverted back to McNabbIn your mind, what does that say?
That he was the better option? That O'b thought he was the better option? That we're screwed at QB as long as O'b is making the call?

No, I said Hoyer started the playoffs , thunder asked if it was a bad choice even though Weeden was rolling essentiallyThat example has nothing to do with Hoyer actually being the best option. You just compared Brian Hoyer to Donovan McNabb.

I can't explain it better. My bad..Yes, and the Reid going back to McNabb later doesn't make OB going back to Hoyer any more legit. They're not connected.
You'd have to equate McNabb and Hoyer to make that example work.
Because that's how examples work.

I think when an owner makes that kind of statement "top priority " is a givenYou're adding. McNair said they were going to address QB. He didn't say top priority.

i understand, but was he ever publicly asked if they'll address TE or OG?He was asked whether the Texans would address QB and said yes. It's not like he stepped up to the podium and made a point of saying we would be looking for a new QB as his 1st statement on the offseason plan.
And hey, I want a QB in the 1st. I hope it is their top priority. But that isn't what he said.

Just because you're not aware doesn't make it so, again, you're misinformed or simply not informed. Your Google search works as well as everyone else. Use it. Just because you're ignorant of the facts doesn't make you ignorant. You're adding. McNair said they were going to address QB. He didn't say top priority.

“I don't think there's any question,” McNair said Tuesday, when asked if finding a franchise quarterback is the Texans' top priority (via the Houston Chronicle).
"Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yes. The answer is yes,” McNair stated emphatically to the Houston Chronicle’s Brian T. Smith on whether the Texans need to address the quarterback situation in the upcoming draft.
If you don't think that finding a franchise QB is a top priority then you are much dumber than I imagined.Just because you don't understand the purpose or import of quotation marks...

I like you too, you old goat. This is all true, but Fitzpatrick did the same with the exception of playoffs which were barely missed. And did Hoyer really have a winning record in games he started? I just don't think that anyone could have watched and think he's a decent starter... well, Marshall maybe, but no one credible. McNair has said we need a QB, I think we get one. Hoyer may be on the team but I surely hope not.
edit: And the biggest reason- 0-30, 15 of 34 for 136, 0 td's, 4 int and 2 fumbles. On national tv at home

OB recruited Hack out of high school
Following OB's departure, James Frankin installed a spread offense and Hack struggled.
I'd appreciate some knowledgable comment from those of you who really evaluate these prospects, the differences in the systems and why a QB may succeed in one but not the other.
Can Hack actually be better suited to OB's offense and regain his freshman year success?
I'm at a loss. I can't remember a person struggling going from a pro style to a simpler style. I could understand if they went to an option type offense where the offense required more athleticism than Hack had, like Savage needing to run a read option, but that's not the type of spread Franklin installed.
To me, it points towards stubbornness or uncoachability on Hackenberg's part. His numbers should have gone up, not down. Being to run Ob's offense as well as he did points to his intelligence. If not for stubbornness, I can only imagine he wasn't able to process information fast enough... which isn't likely.
So you're saying Franklin's spread offense was similar to a pro style offense? I'm confused
No. I'm saying Hackenberg should have thrived in Franklin's spread.

But I've read here numerous people stating that he wasn't suited for the spread offense. I can't imagine a Schaub or a Brady running a spread, and RGIII and Kaepernick seem to have a problem running a pro style. Why should it be different for Hack?
Tom Brady runs a spread. Schub would have been much better running a spread. Case Keenum would thrive running a spread.

Schaub was the anti-Kubiak on paper. So was Manning. One led the league in passing, one won a SB. Maybe the paper isn't what they think it is .
Not being a smart a**
What yr did Schaub lead the league in passing?

Owen was on his way to a record breaking season. Remember what a TE looks like?
8 games 519 yds 5 tds.
Gotta Give Casserly some love for that one Kubiak did .
Apparently this kid really crashed and burned in the Combine so I wonder how far he falls in the Draft ? I'm thinking he goes no higher than 4th round. Would Billy grab him if he's there in the 4th round ?
I'd be ok with drafting 2 QBs; hell it worked out ok enough for Washington.
Never blame the coach. Per two personnel sources on two separate teams who have shown interest in drafting Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg, the quarterback has said all the wrong things in interviews when asked to explain his declining sophomore and junior numbers (a combined 28 touchdowns and 21 interceptions). Hackenberg has shifted blame to coach James Franklin, who took over in 2014 when coach Bill O’Brien departed for the Texans. Said one evaluator: “Despite the fact that it’s probably true, you don’t want to hear a kid say that.”
