I agree. Plus he has lower mileage compared to some of the other guys.Thing about him is he used to be a WR. He's going to fit in well in a WCO.

If it were me, I would sign Henry and draft a rb in the 3rd
I'm torn between Theo Johnson and Irving/Davis in the 3rd. If I went Johnson in the 3rd I would try trade up for Davis or Irving. If it were me, I would sign Henry and draft a rb in the 3rd
If I were going to sign (1) veteran FA RB, Henry is probably the choice if the money is right. His stats and ability to potentially shine in Red Zone situations which the Texans failed at regularly.
I’d still re-sign Stingley, keep Pierce unless a trade offer presents itself, and draft RB- Jaylen Wright (TN).
I do believe the team would have a powerful RB room. Now, finish fixing the OL so the running game has somewhere to go.
I mean I can sign Henry for 3 yrs with 2 of real money and draft Wright in the 3rd or do Singletary, Allen in the 2nd. I wouldn't have 12m tied up in rbs like ob didIf I were going to sign (1) veteran FA RB, Henry is probably the choice if the money is right. Yeah, I've been a Brian Thomas guy for a minute. I think if they do draft him, the depth isn't going to come from the guys you listed. Those free agents are gonna cost 10m or more. The depth comes from a Noah Brown who produced well past expectations on this team. Brown is also a guy who isn't gonna complain when he's not getting targets. I like a couple of those fa wrs if you tell me you're not drafting a wr in the 1st or 2nd rd.If I could pick one for this team with what I know now (note without doing deep dives on each) it would be Brain Thomas. I mean a 6' 4" vertical threat with speed to burn and good YAC ability. He seems to have that quick explosion off the line, too. Adding a guy with that skillset with Nico and Tank would be a force to be reckoned with, and he'd be a perfect pairing with a tremendous long-ball thrower like CJ. I think he's an ideal ying for Tank's yang.
Then add a guy like Darnell Mooney, Gabe Davis, or Curtis Samuel as a quality depth piece and injury insurance, and you've got a top 4 to rival any team in the league.
Then give CJ a quality RB in FA like Jacobs, Henry, or Barkley, and this offense can be a top offense in 24.

Aren't Metchie and the Iowa St kid development guys? Even though I didn't want Metchie, especially a trade up for a guy with no special traits coming off a knee injury, I can see he has some value. He's a slot, hard working type of guys. He looks like a 40 snap type of guy plus teams. He's Robert Woods replacement. I would go for a big three and just sprinkle him in situationally.I draft a developmental WR late in the draft to go along with Thomas.
A guy like Juice Williams WR Illinois or one of the Janke twins from South Dakota St.
Then you've got a very good young WR corps. Of course there's a case to be made for signing another vet guy to bring some experience to the WR room.

Yep, only so many balls to go around. If you draft a guy like Thomas at 23 then your 4-6 guys have to be ST contributors.
I agree Metchie can replace Woods. I wouldn’t be surprised if Woods is cut as a cap casualty this offseason. His contribution is more as a coach at this stage of his career. On field, i’d rather give the younger guys the reps and see if they can produce more with their opportunities.
If you want a vet influence you can bring back Noah Brown for less money and have more big play potential.
I'm very good with adding WR's 4-6 that can play ST's. Does Metchie play ST's?
Hutch was the only WR that played more than a handful of ST snaps. He had 127. Texans just don't ask any of the WR's to play much on ST's. That's more of the defensive guysOnly 20 ST snaps this past season. He needs to if he’s not a top 3 WR.

If I remember right Metchie had a high catch number and for a pretty decent average.Only 20 ST snaps this past season. He needs to if he’s not a top 3 WR.

WR's rarely are if they're not returnersCould be that. Or it could be the WRs they have just aren’t as good on ST as the CBs.
Metchie and Hutch are 2 different guys. Hutch is a boundary wr who we've seen can also do some of that reverse action. Metchie is a slot only. You mention whittington whom I like, I just don't see what he brings from an upside. I've stated this before, if I'm adding late, the guy needs to have something unique. In the 5th, I like Tahj Washington because he has deep speed and he's a hands catcher.Aren't Metcie and Hutch essentially the same guy? I'm looking for guys with different skillsets.
He is, but if they go with 6WR's I want one guy with high upside. I really like Whittington. He would be an upgrade over both Hutch and Metchie. Although I doubt he's there in the 7th, same with Juice. Janke's are both good prospect as outside WR's and are very hard to get on the ground with the ball in their hands.
Noah is going to get squeezed like most of these free agent wrs because of the deep wr draftHave you seen what Noah Brown's projected extension would be?
Injuries are a greater concern to me after the three major but separate transverse discs, shoulder injury, and groin. This does not include his knee and hamstring injuries prior to becoming a Texan. I really like the way he plays and was hoping he would have a very successful year with a long time career ahead of him. By game one, he will be closer to leaving 28 years of age then entering it.Noah is going to get squeezed like most of these free agent wrs because of the deep wr draft
I like Whittington a lot when he's got the ball in his hands. Notice in the playoff game who made big plays for the UT offense. I look at Whittington like a poor mans Deebo. Of course I'm a UT fan. Speaking of this, when does spring ball start for college football?Metchie and Hutch are 2 different guys. Hutch is a boundary wr who we've seen can also do some of that reverse action. I like Brown too, but he cant stay healthy so you cant depend on him. He was really good on ST's and I suppose if you drafted Thomas you could use Brown on ST's and only play him on offense when somebody got hurt as WR3 if you didn't want Metchie in that role.Injuries are a greater concern to me after the three major but separate transverse discs, shoulder injury, and groin. Sims is still with the team but didn't play oftenThen go find a WR that can be a returner in those 4-6 slots. Steve Sims was a good start.

Who only had 1 catch for 10 yards? And when he wasn’t playing he was contributing on ST. As a depth player should. Which is my point. No reason to be activated if all you bring to the team is 1 catch for 10 yards. Gotta play ST if that’s the case. Like the RB3.
Well.. that is never happened to me before. I just can't understand it. What are we talking about? You are misremembering… Metchie had 16 catches in 16 games for 158 yards. If you’re not playing ST i’m not sure why you’d be activated for 1 catch and 10 yards per game.

Here is to hoping that he has a Nico Collins resurgence in his third season.Metchie played 16 games. He had 16 catches for 158 yards. Averaged out per game he comes in just under 1 catch for 10 yards per game. And does not produce on ST.
He lacks Nico's burstHere is to hoping that he has a Nico Collins resurgence in his third season.
But he is shifter. He lacks Nico's burst
He's lost some of his quickness, hopefully he will regain it in his 2nd yr back from illness and injury. But he is shifter.
Metchie needs to get his hands on the ball more often and that won't be easy when Nico or Tank are on the field.

AgreedUnfortunately for Metchie, I suspect him and Tank were brought in to do the same job. And Tank was imo a superior prospect at the time of the draft as well as on the field thus far.
The trade up for Metchie was the biggest headscratcher to me of Caserio’s drafts thus far. Even picks that haven’t worked out I could see the thought process. But trading up to take a WR without premium traits who does not have WR1 upside was a head scratcher without taking into account the torn acl his final college game.
Then of course the cancer diagnosis nobody saw coming making it even harder for him to be a plus player.
Agreed
Imagine if Pickens had been the pick.

Me too! How do you propose to do so?
No thanksIn Free Agency
sign Connor Williams C Miami $67.7 million, or about $13.5 million per season.
sign Robert Hunt G Miami 4 years, $47.4 million, or $11.8 million per season.
So what’s your answer to fixing the running game? Running it back with the same OL ? You really want to risk Strouds health with another year of musical chairs played by JAGs?No thanks
So you're expecting another year of injuries that will ignore Williams and Hunt?So what’s your answer to fixing the running game? Running it back with the same OL ? You really want to risk Strouds health with another year of musical chairs played by JAGs?
Williams is coming off of injurySo you're expecting another year of injuries that will ignore Williams and Hunt?
Players get injured it’s part of the game. Nobody they currently have on the team is more than a low level jag at C and LG.So you're expecting another year of injuries that will ignore Williams and Hunt?
Williams is coming off of injury
Can Hunt play RT?
