Matt Schaub 20K yards passing.

TEXANRED

Texan-American
If Schaub passes for 146 yards this weekend he will have passed for 20K yards for his career. Not to shabby for a guy that didn't get to start until 2007. Eli is at 30K and he has been starting since 04.

It is also looking like he is going to have another 4000 yard season. Hopefully this one counts unlike the 2009 and 2010 season.

Schaub has really been a solid QB. Not flashy or anything but he just seems to get the job done. He'd have to have some really good games to reach 4k (he's on pace for 3.8k). The offense hasn't needed to pass a lot so if things stay the course, he may not have the chance to get there. Either way, I'm glad he's our QB.

Schaub isn't flashy or creative, but he's steady and doesn't do a lot of things to hurt the team. He also sells the PA better than any QB in the league. I'll take that over a gunslinger type QB.

thats only like 25 more yards a game. all it will take is a few really close games instead of these blow out and run the ball the entire second half games and he can get to 4500 yards.

Schaub reminds me of Brady early in his career. People forget that Brady didn't have flashy numbers early on. He was just calm and steady.

Schaub has shown over and over that if he needs to, he can sling it around with the best of them. The problem with that is that it invites mistakes and turnovers -- tipped balls, misreads, bad throws.

What Kubiak wants, and he's said this from the beginning, is to minimize mistakes and take advantage of the opponent's mistakes. That's part of his strategy for winning. He wants an offense that takes what the defense is giving with a couple of shots thrown in for good measure.

If the defense is giving us the short pass like the Jags did, we take that. If the defense is giving us the long pass like the Broncos did, we take that. We want to get a lead and then pound away with the rock. But if the score gets out of hand, then he'll do whatever it takes and if that includes airing it out, our O can do that, too.

This year, Schaub has been (for the most part) doing exactly what Kubiak wants. He's taking what he's given and making good decisions. That's not the flashiest of football but it's a winning combination.

And remember, Elway didn't win back-to-back Superbowls until the onus of the offense was shifted off of his back and he eased back into more of a game-manager type of role. He could still sling it but they only used that when they had to. That's exactly the role Schaub is filling now.

what is the point of this post?

Well, you're complaining that Schaub hasn't been to the playoffs yet conveniently overlook the fact that he would've been in the playoffs and probably would've taken us further in the playoffs had he not been injured. So obviously since TJ Yates has played in playoff games then he's a better QB using your logic. So is Sanchez, Tebow, Dalton and a bunch of other crappy QB's throughout NFL history.

i never said that. stop jumping to extreme conclusions to prove me wrong.

the fact of the matter is schaub has been a texans qb since 2007 and he hasnt yet been to a playoff game.

its a reasonable critique. using tj yates, who was a rookie 5th round pick last year in defense of schaub is laughable.

The play of Schaub last year got us to the playoffs. TJ just had to hold on to the end of the great start of the season. Schaub was a member of the team at that time and as such, has been to a playoff game.

I promise you that TJ and the other members of the 2011 Texans team would consider Schaub a major part of last years playoff run. Even after he got injured, he worked extensively with TJ to get him ready. Would P. Manning or Favre have done that?

David, you've carved out a nice career for yourself backing up a great QB in a stable franchise, probably set yourself up with a good future coaching role should you wish to take it, earned enough money from the game that your kids will get a great inheritance and won a ring along the way. Schaub has worked out pretty well for us to, surely you can't still be this upset that we moved on!?

why wouldnt they if they were injured like schaub?

its not as if tj yates was breaking passing records when he played for farve or manning to be jealous and insecure of their job and not help tj as you hypothetically claimed.

Wouldn't it be the funniest thing ever to learn that Matt Schaub IS DaTruthExplodes, just on the TT forums to have some fun!

david? lmfaaoo. have you been snorting with joe calzaghe?

Haha, props on a great reference, although Sir Joseph William Calzaghe didn't remain undefeated throughout his entire career, at any weight due to being some sort of smack-head, and I doubt you'd say that to his face.

Daaayuuum! I've never watched 804 in the green go red in less than 10 minutes!

Exploder, I think you've set a record. Congrats!

He's regenerating as we speak! I smell a multiple account WUM, although we may have a silent minority who agree. How fitting we should get inundated by a single issue campaign bang on election night.

...aaaaand he's back in the red again.

yea he remained undefeated because he hid out at 168 his entire career and only decided to come out of his comfort zone when roy jones jr. and bernard hopkins were in their 40s only to get dropped by both senior citizens.

can you imagine what would have happened if joe fought them in their prime?

he's been a texan qb since 2007. patience expired a long time ago.

Ok, let's look at that.

2007 and 2008 we didn't have a great defense, and our offense was just taking off. Not to mention, in 2008 we started 0-4, fell to 3-7, but ended up with 8-8.

In 2009, Schaub had a great year, but had no run game. Worst running game we have had since Kubiak got here. Not only that, but our defense was Mediocre at best.

2010, the Offense was not the problem, it was the defense. In fact, that's why I didn't want Kubiak to get fired after that season, because he was in charge of the offense, and there wasn't a problem with the offense. Defense is what single handily screwed us over in those games.

Finally, in 2011, Schaub was having a good year, and got us to 7-3 before going down. With Schaub in there, we could have easily won out those game, as opposed to having the mistake prone Tj in the last 6 games. Schaub would have been there in the Playoffs if he didn't go down, and would have won too.

Now we are here. Most likely we will go to the playoffs. If we didn't have Schaub, we would probably be neck and neck with Indy right now.

This is the greatest day ever! lol

Make sure to check IP addresses on new users. I can't believe he actually got banned.

Ye, it seems to take a lot to get banned on this forum, seems the community usually can drag people into line before it gets that far. I know IP adresses isn't always enough as you can hide it pretty well, not sure whether the modmins on this forum can track stuff like mac adresses and imei's or whatever they are that actually track the machine thats logging on but other forums I frequent do.

I'm almost certain this had all the flavours of someone who has another account and was just having a bit of a laugh though, don't see too many people going to that sort of trouble to grind an axe like that unless they have prior knowledge of the forum.

The cat reminded me the world of THENFL who was banned last season. Sentence structure, punctuation, mis-capitalization and the such.

I called him out in another thread but of course, no response.

Livened thing up though, eh. :)

I think what might have got him was that thread he started in the no spin zone. Where he said PEDs shouldn't be banned....and everyone was trying to convince him how much of an ass he was being. That combined with his normal Schaub hating is probably what put him under the red.

I'm somewhat disappointed he was banned AFTER I replied to him. I thought I made some good points in there. Although, he didn't like responding to me. Don't know why.

Lurv, you indeed presented some very valid points, great argument. In the same vain, didn't anyone in your lineage point out the dead end road that is arguing with a fence post? And that's what that cat's all about. Just kind of a :stirpot: kinda fella, I think.

Good point Dale. Well, he won't be stirring his pot here anymore.

The entertainment value was fantastic tbf. I actually really enjoyed his Calzaghe jibe and was even forced to do a google search to check that I hadn't missed the legend getting some kind of drugs bust or something. Wish I'd had more faith now.

His response was everything you said was an excuse.

Thanks for that.

Last I checked, the QB doesn't win the SB, the Team does. If other aspects of the team are not good, they won't be as successful as they could be. So no, they aren't excuses.

They are valid points.

OK so let's try this again.

Last week he needed 149 yard to reach 20K, this week he needs a whooping 51 yards.

It's nice to be sipping on Kool-aid & reminisce about our great QB. But the fact remains, he hasn't done crap. It's all meaningless, until he wins in the post season & with guys like Flacco & Romo, sometimes that's still not enough.

To me, this is no different than the "Texans don't get no respect"

Schaub's been to the Pro Bowl, the rest of the league knows who he is. He'll get his props when he earns it & unfortunately for a QB that means winning in the post season.
