Indeed. David Carr literally stunted the growth of damned near every single player and coach he came in contact with. We've all heard of a player making everyone around him better. David was like the opposite of that. Everybody got better when he left.
I used to think "McKinney stinks as a center" and I think he did stink but it seemed like as soon as Carr went away McKinney became an average center in like one training camp. I used to think that Todd Washington was a better center than McKinney because it seemed to me that when Washington played the running game worked better and the center of the line held longer. Now I know that it was just a temporary effect caused by Washington not spending too much time in contact with Carr. If he had played with him all the time then the Carr Effect would have sapped his ability like it did everyone elses.
