And be honest and try and not show the homerism...

It's going to be interesting for sure cause this is certainly not the same team we are use to seeing for 5 years...

Go Texans....

Before the change at QB, I thought we'd go 8-8.

Now I think it will take some time to develop some chemistry and I'm staying with 8-8.

Last year I thought we could have won acouple more games, so I would say a 8-8 or a 9-7 record isn't out of the question. I voted 7-8 though.

I was optomistic last year(13-3) and that didn't work out very well for us(I'm sorry). This year, I'm going to be a bit more conservative, and express my goodwill to our new coach, by letting him off the hook..

I only expect 3-4 wins in '07. But I expect to see big strides in the way our team plays.

I think 8-8 is perfect and has us on the cusp of the next step for 2008, where we should expect things. I am alot more excited about this season. With some stumbles we could be in the 6-7 range.

no way that happens, and going from 6 wins to 3-4 is in no way big strides, no matter where you look at it from. i'm thinking 8-8 right now.

I think the team ought to improve this year. There's really no excuse for moving backward in terms of wins this year (assuming Schaub doesn't break a leg in preseason or something...). I'm guessing 8-8 or 9-7, but to be optimistic, voted 9-7.

What I've been hoping would be to come out of the 2-14 season with:
2006: in the 5-6 win range (this worked out!)
2007: in the 8-10 win range, with them at least still in mathematical playoff consideration going into the last 2 weeks.
2008: making the playoffs

I still think this is possible.

I can't see why we shouldn't have at least 8 wins this years. These days teams turn it around a lot quicker, and I expect the Texans to win at least 8 games this year, so I voted 9-10.

If Schaub is the QB they say he is, and the fact he has six years in the WCO, I don't see why we can't have alot more success than last year. I'll be disappointed if we don't finish 8-8 and really feel 10-6 isn't out of the question. Defense will have a 2nd year under the same system, plug a few holes with the draft, and our fortunes could reverse very quickly. I don't wish to be overly optimistic, but its my nature to always look on the brightside.

8-8 or better

We have to jell and we should win some we wouldn't of if Carr was still here(not bashing, just true). Schaub won't loose a game for us, but he maynot win one either. So, if the WHOLE team plays as well as it looks on paper...we should atleast beat Tenn(2 times) Atlanta, Indy(once...but maybe 2 seeing they didn't keep some key FA's), Jags(2 times, they are on the decline).

Thats 5-6 wins right their, so 3 more should happen. And I for one wouldn't be shocked to see us win 2-3 in a row either. unlike in the past win 2 in a row was almost unheard of.

Here is are schedule...I put a W by a win, an L for a loss...and a ? for not sure. I come to an 8-8 record without adding in my ? games.. See if you agree.
HOME:
Indianapolis(W), Jacksonville(W), Tennessee(W), Denver(L), Kansas City(L), Miami, New Orleans(L), Tampa Bay(W)
AWAY:
Indianapolis(?), Jacksonville(W), Tennessee(?), Oakland(W), San Diego(L), Cleveland(W), Atlanta(W), Carolina(L)

I would say 7-9 this year, maybe 8-8, and 9-7 would be a long shot depending on who we draft, this will be the best year in franchise history but still not a winning team in my opinion, but I hope for the best.

I'd like to see us finish 8-8, but I won't be surprised if we find ourselves back at 6-10 or if we were to improve to 9-7. We won 6 games last season, most of which we won DESPITE our offense. I think we lost about 4 games as well in the fourth quarter.

I don't think that there is any doubt that the current make-up of our team (even before the draft) is better than what we had last year. I think 8-8 would be a huge improvement over last year because this year's schedule is tougher and because we probably won some games last year that we shouldn't have won (See Oakland - I don't care how bad they were).

The biggest factor in this season is the play of our new QB...which is also what Smith and Kubiak have bet their jobs on as well. Our QB play last year impaired more than the play of our offense, it kept a young, improving defense on the field way too long.

I'm thinking 8-9 wins.
Our opposition looks pretty tough next season, but what will it look like after all the offseason personnel losses/gains?

Need to take a team-by-team look after all the changes.

You know, we only have 4 games against teams that were below .500 last year. I know that doesn't mean a lot from year to year, but it looks like a pretty tough schedule at this point.

That said, I'm picking 8-8 until they get there and surpass it.

8-8 as we stand today. if we address our o-line and secondary problems by the start of the season i say 10-6 fighting for a wild card spot.

8 wins is not too far off. We won six last year with David Carr. This year, we have Schaub, Ahman Green, and hopefully healthy Dayne from the beginning (he was injured almost all of last year). Our defense should be great, too (especially if we get Landry. If we can get another WR (not sure who or where), we should almost be set.

the Texans should probably end the season 8-8...possibly be like last years titans..team with the most potential to go into the next season(08) ready to make some noise. i think that game in Carolina should be fun to watch

not saying this will happen, but anyone remember NO Saints, 2006? QB change, all the sudden they're in the playoffs.
That's something I've been thinking about the last few days(when not whining about draft picks) and I'm thinking we could maybe hit 10-6 if we get a few breaks. Not getting those breaks last year cost us several games. Hopefully, QB fumbles will become scarce and we have a QB who can hit a receiver on a slant pattern in stride. That would be a nice shange of pace.

Go Texans....

10+ wins

NOT HOMERISM!!

2006 6-10

2 L to Titans (we contain Vaseline Boy..we win those games)
1 L Giants (Fumbleroski Cook doesn't touch ball we win game)
1 L Buffalo (we defend a deep pass properly...we win game)

those 4 L in W column we are 10-6 and 9-7 Kansas City goes home We make playoffs for 1st time

We have tough oponents in 2007 BUT we have 5 teams with 8-8 records and a host of less than stellar (losing record) teams.

What we do in Weeks 1 & 2 will decide this season, in 2006 WE started good then disappeared against Eagles, next week we start lousy turn ball over and Colts run away EASILY.

We need to win BACK 2 BACK to start season:redtowel:

Probably would be best to hold off on the poll to see who we take in the NFL draft. If it goes like last years' draft, I have no problem seeing the Texans fighting for the wild card.

Either way, I'm the lone vote for 10 wins.

I voted the 7-8 region just because i'm a pessimist, but from what i've seen from Kubiak I'd say he won't let the team fall below 9 wins possibly 10. I like the fact that if you won't produce you're gone. Its a new ERA in the Texans history.
Kubiak the new Cowher?

We are going 10-6 Going to the first round of the playoffs where we get knocked out for lack of experience in the playoffs. then the 08 season we are going to the SuperBOWL...

HIGH PREDICTION BUT HEY IM A HARDCORE TEXANS FAN:elmo:

It's way to early to try and make a prediction. Wait until preseason and ask us what the season record will be. But then again, preseason doen't mean much either. We went 3-1 last year.

We went 2-1 to end the season....THAT counted.

As a follow up to my "pessimism" reply to you in another thread, now I know I was right.

1-7 in the division in only six division games... you work really hard at playing the pessimist, Pete.

That's just funny as hell to me. Salt and lime, please.

Pete are you crazy ... we were 6-10 last year .

I'm thinking 8-8 but I can play a hand so I'll bid 9 .

No, no, no, no.... Three toed & I are giving this organization a free pass. We don't care about wins & losses in '07, as long as we are working to build a championship team in the future.

I'm not so sure about FREE passes. What do those season tickets cost??

Last year you said 13-3, so if you're trying to work some reverse mojo this year, you can't expect everyone to play along.

Unless we get some real beasts for 0-line, d-line and d-backs in the draft I think we go 4-12. Our Schedule for 2007 is just too brutal.

Home (2006 Record)

Denver Broncos (9-7) loss
Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8) win
Kansas City Chiefs (9-7) win
Indianapolis Colts (12-4) win
Miami Dolphins (6-10) win
New Orleans Saints (10-6) loss
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-12) win
Tennessee Titans (8-8) win

Road

Atlanta Falcons (8-8) win
Carolina Panthers (8-8) loss
Cleveland Browns (4-12) win
Indianapolis Colts (12-4) loss
Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8) win
Oakland Raiders (2-14) win
San Diego Chargers (14-2) loss
Tennessee Titans (8-8) loss

This turns out 10-6, so i could see at least 8 wins this year:elmo:

It's impossible to know of course, because we haven't had the draft yet, we don't really know how good each of our opponents will or will not be, and we don't know who will be injured on our team and our opponents. I voted 8-8, but I could say 10+ wins if I knew that everyone would stay healthy, including Spencer. We will have injuries and some of them could be key. If Robinson, AJ, Ryans, Leach, Spencer, Daniels, etc. get injured, it changes everything. If we are the healthiest team in the NFL next year, that changes everything too.

Nice catch.... Rep coming your way

I like how some people just go ahead and pencil in a sweep of the Jags every year. Treu, we DO play them tough, but I would figure on a split and hope for a sweep. IMO, I can see a legitimate shot at 8-8 but probably closer to last years record. Gotta see how Schub reacts to his new team and vice-versa, and what holes we fill in the draft before I have a clue what we'll be capable of.

looking at our schedule i think we can win 10 games ............
home
Indianapolis, win
Jacksonville, win
Tennesse, win
Denver, lose
Kansas City, lose
Miami, win
New Orleans, win
Tampa Bay win
away
Indianapolis, lose
Jacksonville, win
Tennessee, lose
Oakland, win
San Diego, lose
Cleveland, win
Atlanta, win
Carolina lose
maybe 11 if we can beat denver or kc.....which is possible......the only way we dont do this good imo is i the offense isnt adjusted yet with the new qb....but i think our defense will keep games close and thats what we need.....
