Live Press Conference At 11:30 Am

Carr is the only decent option left for alot of teams. Maybe we'll get some good picks in a bidding war......or maybe we don't get ****.

Rick Smith is trying to trade David Carr and may happen today or within the next couple of days.

Were is our leverage for that? He basic announced that Carr is off the team. Teams can just wait until he reaches free agency and not give up picks, unless someone REALLY wants him.

i like the sendoff from smith, but when you show your cards like that and how obvious it is that you're trying to move a player, you kinda weaken the player's value. so don't expect much in return for carr.

Points for every time Schaub uses the word "talent," "opportunity," or "tremendous."

Seriously though I think he's well spoken.

And all of you ABC's must be going nutty right now to hear him mention "the other quarterbacks" and excluding Carr's name.
I bet he bathes regularly as well. Kind of like a certain politician.

Someone called it! "Was signing Carr a mistake?" "We've made mistakes. You have to make more good decisions than bad decisions. I expect to do that in the future."

So Schaub was just "handed" the starting Job? He didn't have to compete for it? LOL

Question: "Do you regret picking up the option on Carr last season?"

McNair: "If you wanted to review all the mistakes in my life we wouldn't have enough time."

There has to be something pretty far along for RS to say "Today, or tomorrow" regarding Carr. Oakland?

I loved the way McNair handled the "was it a mistake to re-up Carr" question. Very classy and he took responsibility for making a mistake and going forward knowing that mistakes happen but it is a matter of learning and making more good decisions than bad over time.

I think picking up Schaub effectively told the league that Carr is gone anyway. I'm guessing they already have the basics of a deal done if Smith is truthful about Carr being traded in the next couple days.

Showing your cards: 2 seconds, moving down in the first for a quarterback.

They didn't lose anything by stating the painfully obvious.

Wow, seems like Bob said he made a mistake with the money they gave David last season.....well, I am somewhat excited for next season now. Let's hope he grasps the playbook quickly and that he and the WR gel !!

David was a class player, never trashing the Texans...I wish him well!

I can't believe this. We just broke the bank for this guy and won't get diddley for Carr now. This FO is no better than the former one in this aspect. Somebody let me know where they play cards!!!! I'd love to play some TEXANS Hold 'Em with them.

Unless it's already setup. I'm thinking with what we gave for Schaub and Rick's earlier comments about not giving up picks - I get the feeling something's already in place, whether with another team via Carr or the future plans on how to acquire more picks. If this was the previous C&C circus, I wouldn't feel the same way.

are you serious...

Trading for Schaub showed all the cards that were on the table. Everybody in this league knows Carr isn't the starter and we are looking to move him.

There is nothing Smith can say thats going to hurt what little value Carr has, Smith is actually trying to create value, which is going to be hard cause teams know they can just wait for his release.

It will be a miracle if we can get a first day pick for David. It will be interesting to see (i) what we get and (ii) what the impact will be to the salary cap. My guess is that we won't get any relief on the salary.

It is so painful to sit through another one of these press conferences. It is kind of odd to hear McNair say a phrase like "This is another great day in the history of this organization." I hope he is right...finally.

Did Smith say they would'nt have pulled the trigger on this deal unless they where sure they could get "compensation" for Carr? -The sound was horrible.

They did not break the bank, it is a very cap friendly deal. And you do not know what they will get for Carr and neither do I. McClain and all the other goof balls don't know jack about that either. there are no other QBs out there available, so if a team wants to go with vet and not draft someone in the first round it might start a bidding war.

Wow, McNair admitted that exercising Carr's option last year was a mistake.

That is the only reason we have a new QB is because he finally sees DC cannot make it here.

I wish him the best elsewhere but we have a much brighter future today than we did on Monday

Man. Calm down. The trade is already a done deal obviously or they wouldn't be talking about it. JUST TAKE A LOOK at the moves this FO has already done the last 2 years. Do really still think they are idiots?

The buy in is 100 million dollars, as in what you would pay for a franchise.

Still interested?

IMO, it was a classy conference all the way around. They've admitted thier mistakes and are moving on. All 4 of those fellows showed alot of class. I liked it and I like Schaub even more afterwards.:dance2:

Say if we did trade Carr first then Atlanta could of asked more from us seeing on how we only would have had Sage as our starter. We probably already have a deal in place and just working the small kinks out of it.

Thanks for catching up... if they didn't get a deal done for Carr first, then they limit the potential for him... likewise, if would be terribly awkward to have him come back if the Schaub thing fell through.

Oh boy, isn't this great! Taking out the Californian Raisin and using his contract as compost to rejuvenate this franchise while combined with an organizational mea culpa is as it good as it gets.

Free at last!

Saw 20 minutes ago on ESPNews that Tuiasosopo (spelling?) has been traded.

Wasn't he with the Raiders?

That's two QBs gone for Oakland.

I would expect a deal to already be in place or very close to it. otherwise it wouldn't get done today or tomorrow like smith alluded to...these things take time.

i would also hope that this FO didn't look at the acquiring of schaub and trading carr as 2 seperate events. Thats when we would get nothing for carr like many here are mentioning.

I believe a deal was pretty darn close to being in place..all set up contingent that we signed schaub. now that our part is done w/ atlant it'll take a few more hours finishing up the touches on the carr trade....not starting it.

If you deal with carr and schaub as two unrelated trades...we're shooting ourselves in the foot. hopefully we didn't do that...and i trust that smith is smart enough not too...other wise carr wouldn't be traded till like 1 week or so.

Not for a game of Holdem, especially if Kubiak is only betting $20 on the golf course. It appears McKay enjoyed his game of poker with K & S.
