Agree - the destructive speculation is not usefulEver consider that maybe the President of Football Operations made that move? And maybe that is one more reason he is no longer here?

Of course I considered it, that's why I said:Ever consider that maybe the President of Football Operations made that move? And maybe that is one more reason he is no longer here?
other than his Buddy wanting a solid for an ally.
that is a humongous red flag.
Of course I considered it, that's why I said:
Buddy is Easterby, the ally is Cooks.
That's a red flag. A GM should know better. Cap was screwed up enough as it was. Now he's having trouble trading the most traded guy in the NFL.
IF you're fine with that power structure...The VP of Operations had more power than the GM.
He's not having trouble trading Cooks, he's looking for cap value and premium top 100 draft picks. With this yrs draft class and FA WR market I bet he can get a 3rd for Cooks and a 6th. Cooks is worth a 3rd, the 6th is the price of the contract.
I keep hearing about that guy. Some people say he is too small. Does anyone have an opinion on this?Have I mentioned yet I don't want them to draft Bryce Young?
Doesn't matter if you're fine with it or not, that's the Texans and has been since 2001IF you're fine with that power structure...

You may opine, but don't mention anything about how long or narrow he is.I keep hearing about that guy. Some people say he is too small. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
Isn't that the motto of every poster on every internet forum?May not matter, but I'll continue to complain.
I think you have to - I wouldn't like to rely on a rookie.Texans just released Justin Britt, I believe that means we currently have zero centers on the roster. Could be wrong about that though, either way let’s make something happen in free agency there
He balled his butt off in the toughest conference in college football for two year’s straight. His rookie year he forced Sabans hand by ripping his defense apart. But big homie I said I wanted Stroud. My thing is people needs to stop popping on that youngster because he’s 6’ or a little shorter. We’ve seen quarterbacks around his height be successful in the NFL. We’ve seen smaller players last 20 years in that violent game. So why are we being so dismissive?
Same goes for a project - most rookies QBs are, but you take the ones that seem most pro ready for the system you are going to use.Because it's the Houston freakin' Texans.
I'm laughing that anyone actually believes THIS organization can take a huge outlier and become a potential champion.
Maybe the Patriots, maybe the Chiefs, but the TEXANS???? lmao
Some fans seem to forget the last two decades of this franchise. They are not going to morph into something they are not overnight, regardless of the GM and HC. Over time and with consistent success - maybe. But to put a small QB on this team this season? It's inviting disaster.
So we’re being dismissive over Young’s height all because it’s Houston? He can go anywhere else but Houston. Brother my question is why do we even root/follow an organization like this, since we feel that way? I’m pretty sure the Bengals fans felt this way and just like that (overnight) two successful drafts. And now they’re one of the top teams in the league. They have gone through some terrible seasons as well.Because it's the Houston freakin' Texans.

If the Texans do draft Young and put some great pieces around him. Man who knows what might happen. Only time will tell.
Side note: I’m hoping se draft CJ.
Again I’ve already pointed out players who were way smaller aka D. Green. He played 20 years in the land of those giants. Tackled jokers like Earl Campbell and those other great running backs of that era. The game was more physical and violent back then, wouldn’t you agree?I don't care about his height, but rather his overall size. He's a small framed dude. You simply cannot make an ectomorph body-type into a mesomorph body-type. Nature does not work that way.
Y'all acting like size is irrelevant in a league of giants is mind-boggling to me.
I get the hype. He's an exciting player and shows lots of potential.
But I'm pragmatic, not idealistic. You have to consider EVERYTHING, including the organization drafting him. Too many high potential players have been ruined on teams that were not ready to protect and develop them. I'm just not convinced that the 2023 Houston Texans is an organization that can develop players with long odds. I'm not sure why optimism for some folks is so blinding that it suspends healthy skepticism.
Why do you take it so personal? You can find it funny all the F you want. It’s a freaking fact dude.
What’s really funny is people acting like he will be the only player of his size to ever play in the NFL.

Neither one of us know exactly what’s going to happen. But we both can attest to the fact the rules are totally different and it’s quarterback friendly. Them monsters are not blowing the quarterback up no more like way back in the days.
There is no DB in the history of the league that has suffered any where near the contact a Houston Texans QB will.Tackling someone is not the same as being tackled.
Why does it concerns you. It’s so easy to pass go. Try it.Why do you take it so personal?

I know right lolAlso shocking is that Bryce Young has been tackled before. Multiple times, in fact. Who knew?
Really? Because it’s seems to me the blind optimists are outnumbered 10:1 by the nattering nabobs of negativism, concerning Young.I'm not sure why optimism for some folks is so blinding that it suspends healthy skepticism.

Why is it that prototypical QBs like Newton, Palmer, and Roethlisberger show up on the injury report, game after game? And smaller QBs like Wilson, Brees, and Tarkington posted every week?
I don’t know. And I don’t pretend to know. Unlike other posters who pretend to know based upon “common sense”. The sense that needs no factual basis, because there is none.

No, because anyone with eyes can see that Wilson & Brees are much closer in size to Young than prototypical QBs. And both received much criticism for their size when entering the NFL.Also, can we please stop with the "smaller" talk for Wilson and Brees? They are shorter. They are not smaller. Young is not framed like either and never will be. That isn't a critique, or an opinion that he can't handle the NFL. It's simply biology.
Also shocking is that Bryce Young has been tackled before. Multiple times, in fact. Who knew?
Not a fact. Travon Walker, Sam Williams, Michael Clemons and other current NFL players have tackled Bryce Young. Know your facts.Interesting fact: He's never been tackled by an NFL player.

Who's the one being emotional? It's just a game. Remember?Deal with it.

And both are SB champs as I recall ?No, because anyone with eyes can see that Wilson & Brees are much closer in size to Young than prototypical QBs. And both received much criticism for their size when entering the NFL.
And it's my full time job?Your belligerence is telling. It's just a hobby for me.
Not necessarily because it’s football. He also took on a lot of punishment to his body try hitting running backs, tight ends, receivers and quarterbacks way bigger than him. And again you do know they’re not allowed to hit like they did back in the days. Are you even factoring in the new age tackling rules? Come on DBIt's apples and oranges.
D. Green did not play QB. And the entire defense was not built around him.
And we are talking about the Houston Texans. This franchise does not have the capacity to develop players, much less overcome their physical limitations. Why this is being left out of the equation is beyond my comprehension. Until this franchise proves otherwise, they are who they are.

Believe me, I'm ALL about them proving it before blindly jumping on any rainbow trains, but even I'm willing to give DeMeco, a legit HC candidate for a change, and the staff he's put together some benefit of doubt. Granted, no one knows how it will work out for DeMeco as he's never been a HC, but still. Things feel different. And we are talking about the Houston Texans. It’s funny the two organizations you listed were largely unsuccessful prior to the arrival of Mahomes and Brady and we’ve already seen the Patriots fall back into their pre Brady ways.Because it's the Houston freakin' Texans.

Yep, look at Levis who has been injured at 6'3 245lbsBelieve me, I'm ALL about them proving it before blindly jumping on any rainbow trains, but even I'm willing to give DeMeco, a legit HC candidate for a change, and the staff he's put together some benefit of doubt. As far as the QB situation and any of these players sizes go, unless you're Eddie Gaedel I don't really care. Can you play NFL QB? Young has played in the most NFL ready league there is and I'm not aware of any injuries or games missed because of injuries. I know plenty of much bigger framed QBs who miss a ton of time. Maybe Young is more of a risk, but it's certainly not a given. If there's one thing Davis Mills has proven is that he can take a hit and get up from it. That doesn't mean I want him playing QB.
look at the talent level around Levis compared to the talent level around Young. Levis was basically playing with a team surrounding him that was almost as bad, if not worse, than what the Texans had the last 2 years. He got hurt because the team around him sucked. It happens. Remember David Carr? He got killed behind our chitty Oline. Do you think the Texans will all of a sudden have a top Oline to protect a new QB this year? I don't. That's why I'm not taking any QB in the 1st round this year.Yep, look at Levis who has been injured at 6'3 245lbs
I wouldn’t even say the Texans oline was chitty last year. It was bad but not like bottom 5. We’re a center away from an average oline and a center+Green remembering how to play football away from a good olinelook at the talent level around Levis compared to the talent level around Young. He weighs over 200lbs. If he weighs more on his pro-day I won't speak of possible durability issues.Calm down, Spiro. You are conflating the few who post many times about not wanting Young with the many who have concerns about size/durability, but love his skills and talent. I love his game, and if he were drafted by the Texans I am not burning my Petey Faggins jersey, but he isn't the guy I want. Which is the majority of opinions here among us nabobs.
Were Cam and Big Ben prototypical? Because both played at 240+ lbs and made a reputation for embracing the contact.
Also, can we please stop with the "smaller" talk for Wilson and Brees? They are shorter. They are not smaller. Young is not framed like either and never will be. That isn't a critique, or an opinion that he can't handle the NFL. It's simply biology.
Or three NFL players at the same timeInteresting fact: He's never been tackled by an NFL player.
He weighs over 200lbs. If he weighs more on his pro-day I won't speak of possible durability issues.
Still don't want the Texans drafting him with a top 15 pick. He's the best QB in the class, so they say. If that's true I don't want the Texans to draft a QB in the top 15.
I was getting used to the idea of Levis or Richardson at 1.12, now it sounds like they'll go top 10. Too rich for me.
Henderson in the 2nd & Bennett in the 4th if we "have" to draft a QB.
