Nick Caserio - New GM

Yeah, I didn't say all.

But there were many here, obviously not you, who thought Kelly was being retained only because Watson said he liked him.

& bringing Pep in was the safety net. Culley was a placeholder & Nick had a long-term plan.

So they thought
The one and only thing that was a given and for certain that was being perpetrated by the Kool Aid Brigade was that Josh McDaniels would be the new head coach of the Houston Texans beginning of the 2022 season.

They fooled you too, I see. Brian Flores, the Dolphins HC and a longtime New England associate of Nick Caserio was fired unexpectedly, and David Culley was fired less than 72 hours later after Flores was fired. The old Culley wanted Kelly back excuse and ruse is why he was fired fooled a lot of Kool Aid drinkers.

Culley famously had the quote “as far as I know I am the coach” on the 10th. There was doubt about his job since the season ended and he was getting questions about it.

Flores was fired on the 10th. In a surprise move.

Texans fired Tim Kelley soon after firing Culley. He was the next coach to be fired.

The chain of events you paint don’t match up with the reality of the events taking place.

Flores fired Jan. 10th - CORRECT
Culley and Kelly fired Jan 13th. = 3 days/72 hours later

What part of the 24 hour clock and/or the Gregorian calendar do you not understand?

Thought or hoped?

I guess Josh knew better than to get in bed with the Calhoun's.

Josh passed on the chance to work with his friends and brother. This speaks volumes about the Texans HC job.

Wrong! Mr. Doom and Gloom. But hey good freaking try.
I’m doom and gloom because I call a back to back 4 win team like I see it?

When they do something worthy of not being criticized I’ll be more than happy to shit rainbows with you. But they’re going to have to earn that. I’m not willy nilly giving it to them.

Ever since Robert C died they’ve ratcheted up their shitshow game to unconscionable levels. 2 years in a row of the worst HC hiring process ever. That doesn’t instill much confidence that anybody knows what the hell they’re doing in that building still, but somehow I’m doom and gloom. Whatever dude.

I’ll pick up the pom poms and drink the koolaid when they give me a reason to. Until then it’s Texans bumbling stumbling business as usual.

I understand that correlation does not imply causation. You apparently were eating your books during that lesson.

But don’t let me get in the way of the Chicken Little Pecker fan club with facts:

The Texans and Culley had said prior to
Flores being fired that they had to complete their end of season interviews. They were blasted in the media for not following suit like other teams and saying one way or another if Culley was going to be retained.

There were rumors of Culley being fired in December 2021.

There were rumors of Culley being fired in December 2021.
Can't blame those rumors on Amy Palcic. Wonder where they came from?

So when McDaniels told the Texans he did not have a clown suit so he was not interested in joining the Kirby Circus, this was the real reason for the delay and why the ringmaster didn't fire Culley immediately. Then when out of the blue, Holy Moly, the Dolphins fire Brian Flores. Just when the ringmaster thought he was down and out and lost the #1 guy on his list, low and behold another member of the New England Patriot fraternity falls into the ringmaster's lap. After a few phone calls and the ringmaster confirms this fraternity member does have a clown suit and is actually interested in joining the circus, an interview is confirmed, CULLEY IS OTTA HERE.

Thank you for making my point.

I'm going to let you hang around long enough to see how long your post stays on the board. When it's gone, back in the cooler for you. Since you seem to be the one who is constantly upset with my comments, would it not be better for you to put me on ignore? That would be a lot cheaper than Xanax.

Agreed, I'm going to root for Lovie to bring a championship to Kirby. Although it's highly unlikely to happen. Safe choices don't win SB's.

'eh, the right "safe choices" could win one. Tampa Bay signing Brady was a safe choice. It seemed to work out for them okay.

At this point, I'd be glad for a team that wins more than it loses and has a shot of getting in the playoffs. If Lovie can at least produce that, then the franchise is at least heading in the right direction.

Dear Lord, please start the football season early this year so that the most irrational human beings on earth (sports fans) can stop over analyzing/complaining about everything under the sun & start focusing on moving forward. The new GM has cleared a lot of cap space for acquiring free agents, the Texans have a full bevy of draft picks this year & with the #3 pick, they are in a great position to trade down & pick up some more picks. They have a stud QB that is going to be traded for a multitude of draft picks once the legal issues are resolved to the new team's satisfaction & they just hired a new head coach that has some pretty good credentials that includes a Superbowl. The Texans have never had that successful a head coach in their entire history & in my opinion, it really doesn't matter who hired him. He's our coach now. He showed last year that he's still a great coach when he took a boatload of unwanted free agent players signed to one year contracts & fielded a defense that got better as the season went on. I'm really excited about the future of the Texans in our second year of rebuilding & can't wait to see what Nick Caserio will do in his second draft & free agency period. I realize you may be extra busy right now Lord, but if you can find a spare moment, could you fast forward the clock to the start of training camp? Thank you from one of your favorite sports fans.

Nice sentiment, but I'm afraid the Lord turned his back on Houston pro football a long, long time ago. And he told his football god buddies to ignore us, as well.

Oh no! It’s the big bad Jack Easterby! Hide the women and children! Get the stakes and garlic! Everyone get to the bunkers!

Is he bigger and badder than Darth Amy Palcic? I'm trying to keep up with Texans villains here but I'm not quite sure how to rank them.

Really? Culley didn't have the power to keep Kelly from being fired. What could Culley have done about it? Quit in protest? SMDH.
Nope. NC specifically stated that a big reason for DC’s release was over their offensive strategy, particularly how the running game was used. DC wouldn’t budge which tells me he had every opportunity to change his OC so in effect he did quit in protest.

Yeah, no one is concerned with Little Finger. Until his dagger slides into their back. Ask Billy how it felt.

OB was a dead man walking. As soon as he pissed off Watt he was done for.

To your point and to show I really don’t care or have a dog in this fight and try to give credit where it’s due:

Easterby screen shoting texts to show Cal what players felt about him didn’t do him any favors.

I am just don’t have the patience nor energy to pound the table and complain about Easterby. He is who he is and he is part of the Texans. He is not going anywhere soon.

Why would my post get deleted? I didn’t insult you.

I can see there are some that are very sensitive to what is said about them or their. People need thicker skin.

I really don’t have a problem with you or your posts. I just have found that you get very sensitive to anyone who doesn’t think your way and get offended. You are quick to put them on ignore.

I don’t believe in that. It’s too much like the problem with what we have going on today with safe zones for people so people don’t get upset or offended. Being offended is a choice.

So when the Texans do something stupid it is what it is. I don’t take it person or get offended. Nor by other posters.

But you do you. You’re special.

The GOAT isn't really a good example.

I dont care about W/L's at this point. I just want a HC/GM that speak the same language and are on board with drafting and developing talent that's needed to eventually become a contender. Lovie/Caserio dont come from the same defensive style scheme, so I'm betting this become an issue.

Was Andy Ried a non safe pick for the Chiefs? Didn't seem out on a limb at the time. And he had a SB appearance only. Just sayin.

Don't think they are at the same level. But your argument is a little too broad.

So what I am hearing is we hired the next Andy Reid to go with our QB who might be the next Tom Brady.

Championship!

Kind of reminds me of that time when a poster said that the Jacksonville Jaguars with Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawerence reminded him of what the Dallas Cowboys’ 1st year with Jimmy Johnson and Troy Aikman looked like.

Lol. Oh man. Good times. Good times.

Well since you feel that strongly why even follow them. You’re that upset to the point of always shitting on everything they do or whenever a member sees a small glimmer of hope and express it on here. Look here dude I’ve expressed my disdain for this team as well. But I’m not going to talk down everything that a member points out that was good to go in their eyes. Oh more power to you for predicting two four win seasons.

Like I said, I call things like I see them. When there's something good, I'll acknowledge that as well. I don't play the bullshit games of picking a side and sticking with it no matter what. They are in a bad place that unfortunately is going to take time to turn around, if it ever does with the power structure they have in place. And I'm not going to praise them for the dumb shit they do just because the HC or GM says all the right things in front of a mic. If you're all about that hope, more power to you. I hope they dig out of this mess at some freaking point too. But I rely on results. Don't tell me you're going to do this and this and that. I need to see it on the field.

Nicky's mulligan season is over, and frankly, I haven't been impressed with too much of anything he's done so far. So it's not that I'm doom and gloom, it's that I haven't seen anything the Houston Texans do to instill a glimmer of hope in me. I don't see that light at the end of the tunnel ... yet. This roster had 30 (give or take) players from last year become FAs. That means the roster turnover is going to be huge again this year, which is fine because that roster sucked. But the foundation to build something needs to eventually be laid down. That hasn't happened yet. Revisit that after free agency and the draft. But until it does happen, they ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Simple as that. Positive, things I want to hear coach speak be damned.

And don't worry about why I follow them. I'll fan the way I fan. You stick to you.

Well let me fan the way I fan and we won’t have an issue.

To be fair Rome wasn't built in a day.

What were your expectations considering the lack of draft capital and cap space. It was always going to take a couple of yrs to take the trash out and rebuild the team. I'm guessing that you didn't like the Caserio hire to begin with?

Glad too see you accept the rule of hiring safe picks.

I'm a calculated risk taker at heart and no I don't think Lovie was a Caserio hire and I don't expect this hire to end with ring ceremonies.

Glad you're happy with the hire though.

Except I said that they were not at the same level. I would have taken Andy Ried over Lovie. Appreciate the twist. Get your ears checked though. Think you have some horse puckie stuck in there.

Who?

Answer really is do you think the Calhoun's can win a championship with Lovie as HC?

I don't think they can and I like Lovie.

Gonna take one hellava coach to overcome the Texans incompetent ownership.

I'd feel a lot better if things were turned over to Caserio and ownership just faded into the background.

Not too enthused with the Lovie hire, but the Texans were backed into a corner.

Maybe the draft will give us something to hang our hats on.

Some won't be satisfied no matter what the team does. :(

:coffee:

It was a joke.

BTW - it would be eyes checked. Not ears. We read posts not hear them.

Andy Reid.

Not sure. My opinion is that the Texans can't win at all because I have never seen it.

I can hope so. And that is what I am doing.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they win.

But I don't think they will as long as the boardroom structure is in effect down on Kirby.

Agreed, the only good thing I see so far was a happy accident. Definitely not part of the "plan" & that's very concerning to me.

& I call Lovie a happy accident. Not because I wanted Lovie, or think he's a good HC, or think he'll take the Texans to a Super Bowl.

But only because he is a HC, especially compared to the list of guys they were considering.

What improvements have you seen since Casserio has been here?

Try not to include any thing that would have improved anyway, like having a 1st & 2nd round pick.

I'd feel a lot better if things were turned over to Caserio and ownership just faded into the background
He was going to hire Josh McCown as our HC.

Josh didn't accept any other position with the team, so his conversations with Nick could only have been about the HC position.

I'm out on Caserio. I loved the hire at the time. But he's too "unconventional" for me.

Culley, McCown, these 1 year deals, trading draft picks for players that don't even make it to camp when he's #3 on the waiver wire .. & there's more.

All the quirks on their own, no big deal. But all wrapped up in one person... can't do it... won't do it...
