We seem to have pulled a U turn on the process and it’s a pleasant surprise.
Everything was pointing to a search committee of Cal, Jack, pancakes and Watson finding a HC and allowing the HC to find the GM.
Some point along the line it seems Cal has made the sensible move of hiring some really good names to help the search, they are looking at GMs first, and will then look at HCs from there. This is how it should be.
I have no idea what to make of the actual candidate being interviewed. Philly have had some good teams in recent years.
Can’t say I disagree. What are tour thoughts on the possibility of Louis Riddick being the Texans new GM?This isn't brain surgery, look for guy that have a track record od being successful before like Dorsey/McCloughan who have a track record of success or a guy like Wolf who's well connected around he league.
The other way you could go is get an asst GM/Coach that are connected like Dodds/Eberflus (SP?) I just want the dysfunction to end.

I know little about him but what I do know leads me to hope that Detroit gets him. Surely we can do better? Why would we want anybody associated with teams like Washington? I just don't get that.
Riddick really was Director of Pro Personel with the Eagles during the last years of the Andy Reid era. Those were not anything to brag about. He has family in the NFL and had been on ESPN for awhile so he has connections, but would be a new GM without a great track record and has not even been employed in a front office for 7/8 years.
Thank you google, wikipedia and speed reading.

Yeah I read that and do not see why anybody would want this guy or even why he got an interview? If he is the type that is being referred to Cal McNair here we go again...Riddick really was Director of Pro Personel with the Eagles during the last years of the Andy Reid era. Maybe they’re just satisfying that minority rule? Hopefully?Yeah I read that and do not see why anybody would want this guy or even why he got an interview? If he is the type that is being referred to Cal McNair here we go again...
I think I'm moving Dorsey to the top of my personal list.
He's been there and done that, with a track record of identifying and acquiring talent.
I'm probably not as concerned as I should be about his history of being fired quickly.
But I think he can build a roster, so I'm good with rolling the dice
To be honest I did not know that he was a minority. I haven't seen any pictures of him just info I have read.Maybe they’re just satisfying that minority rule? Hopefully?
I want more than just a roll of the dice. We have got to get this right.I think I'm moving Dorsey to the top of my personal list.

A poor man's Mayock?but would be a new GM without a great track record and has not even been employed in a front office for 7/8 years.
A poor man's Mayock?
A poor man's Mayock?
I want more than just a roll of the dice. We have got to get this right.
They both played and have both spent time doing football tv.
But between wearing a helmet and potentially leaving the booth for the front office Mayock was selling real estate while Riddick was learning as a young scout and executive.
A rich man's Mayock, maybe?
And the interpersonal baggage that you speak of is a concern that I don't think we need after dealing with O' Brian. Why would you take that chance? We are very early in the process of selecting GM and head coach.I don't feel like his qualifications are a roll of the dice.
I think his qualifications are very strong and justify rolling the dice on any interpersonal baggage that he seems to have
So Texans have contract to keep other teams away or are just hoping?Mayock was a draft analyst who had no managerial experience and neither did John Lynch, the 49ers GM, he was in the booth before they picked him out of the blue in 2017 and what happened 3 years later? They ended up in the Super Bowl. Now, they probably they didn't sign him right away because I think the Texans are going to wait until after the regular season to announce that they are going to hire him to make sure like Detroit, Atlanta or Jacksonville doesn't steal him from under their noses. But, knowing the Texans they'll probably find a way to get in their own way and mess this up
Man I hate to make a decision when I feel like I'm over a barrelProblem is if Cal likes him but isn't sure. The word is that he will be hired for the GM job with the Lion's. He has an interview with them I think Friday. So IF Cal is thinking about it... he has to make an offer ASAP. Otherwise, the Lions are going to get him. Based on the reports.

If I were one of these guys looking at Easterby, thinking this guy was able to wiggle in close to McNair with some double talk and minor football knowledge...The other problem is how Jack Easterby will be involved in the process? Because if Easterby is interfering in the every day aspect of running the team nobody's is coming here. So, that's my concern.
I am gonna say this now. I hope whoever is our next GM/HC are minorities.
I havent been particularly impressed with the majority of our picks at either position.
Not without Reid + MahomesDorsey + Bieniemy = KC South
Not that I am complaining.
Not without Reid + Mahomes
Wiki has him listed as RB & Associate HC in 2018 before being promoted to interim OC. So maybe they saw him as a developing HC. When they fired Greg Williams, maybe they had to push things up faster than they thought & decided, “Well, the tried & true method didn’t work bringing in Greg Williams, let me ask Baker what he thinks?”My only real problem with Dorsey is his selection of Freddie Kitchens as the Brown's HC in 2018. There was nothing on Kitchens resume that screamed NFL head coach. I'd like to hear his explanation of why he made that decision.
I would also like to hear his explanation of what went wrong in KC. Dorsey and Reid have been friends since Reid was the OL coach in Green Bay. One of Reid's sons would even baby sit Dorsey's kids. You would think that their partnership in KC would be perfect/aligned. Yet, he was forced out of KC. Are rumors of his abrasive style and lack of communication skills true? One example given is that he cut one of Andy Reid's favorite players (Jeremy Maclin) and didn't even give him the courtesy of a phone call. He simply left a voicemail for Maclin. Who cuts a player by voicemail? My only real problem with Dorsey is his selection of Freddie Kitchens as the Brown's HC in 2018. There was nothing on Kitchens resume that screamed NFL head coach. I'd like to hear his explanation of why he made that decision.
Williams was just the interim HC after Hue Jackson was fired in season. Actually had a winning record that half season (5-3), though no one in their right mind would have kept Gregg Williams as the HC.When they fired Greg Williams, maybe they had to push things up faster than they thought & decided, “Well, the tried & true method didn’t work bringing in Greg Williams, let me ask Baker what he thinks?”
Don't you just hate it when that happens! I also hate it when I am using my voice text to post and my TV decides to add words to my post.Today is Thursday and tomorrow will be Friday..
It's a "smart" TV, right? It probably knows best.I also hate it when I am using my voice text to post and my TV decides to add words to my post.
