I admit I had him on my cut list. I wonder if they saw something so told JOrdan Thomas and Kahale they were hurt so they could keep him? I suspect JT was really hurt because we went out and got Paulsen; I can admit when I am wrong, and Fells is ballingWho'd athunk Fells would make such an impact in the passing game.

Those ex-basketball players can ball if they can handle the physicality
I keep waiting for red zone plays where these huge TEs are just getting jump balls on fades or boxing out smaller DBs on curls, hooks and slants.
We had that one where caught over the guys head and taunted him, that was perfect use of him.
Deshaun won’t trust this guy anymore

1 reception on 3 targets. Yes it went for 46 yards, but this guy was not a factor the vast majority of those snaps.deandre carter has made his impression felt more on the offense in half the amount of snaps. Coutee is another bust.
Coutee was great last season but of course has vanished this season. Bill doesn't like to have too many capable offensive players functioning at a high level, gotta have someone in the doghouse!

“I think just in the game plan, I think to be honest with you, probably should, probably had chances to get him in there a little bit more,” O’Brien said. “But the way that the game was going and talking about the limited possessions that we had we just didn’t get him into the game, and I think probably could have done a better job of that so there really wasn’t any reason other than me doing a better job of getting him in the game.”
Holy crap, could there be a more jibber jabber response than this? I'm more confused now than ever.
i think he was in there towards the end of the game.Definitely a weird response considering he got zero snaps.
Texans coach Bill O'Brien says he should have done a better job of involving WR Keke Coutee against the Raiders
By: Mark Lane | 7 hours ago
The Houston Texans’ passing attack persisted against the Oakland Raiders and overcome an eight-point second half deficit to upend the visiting side 27-24 Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.
One player who did not figure a part in the victory was second-year receiver Keke Coutee, who did not play a snap on special teams or on offense in the win.
Coach Bill O’Brien after the game told reporters they were sticking to the game plan and the limited possessions didn’t allow for him to insert Coutee into the action, but that he should have been more conscious about getting the former Texas Tech Red Raider in the game.

I thought I saw the camera show him on the field. I could be wrong.Hmm well pro football reference is showing zero snaps
He did not see the field last Sunday.I thought I saw the camera show him on the field. I could be wrong.
The information I'm getting is that the Texans are looking for a trade for a position of need prior to the trade deadline.
I took Doc's post as in coutee being the trade bait. If so, I agree.Interesting. The only positions where we have some depth is DT and LB.
Koutee has not even played 16 games. He is still a rookie, for all intended purposes.
If we can get a Carlos Hyde for Rankin type trade for Coutee I would have done it in New York Minute minute.
I don't care what Rankin is getting on another team or what his rookie contract is. He was a zero on Texans. Free agent or not Hyde is delivering big time now.I wouldn't. Rankin is getting quality snaps and is on a rookie scale the next 3 years. Hyde is a FA

I don't think Hyde was brought here to be a receiving running back strictly for his rushing. He was a zero here because of O'Brien imo.
Hyde has been fine but he sucks as a receiver
I got a buddy who's a niner fan. He was pretty sure that why lil shanny wasnt as high on him and let him walk as a free agent. Havent seen that dude in a while but I totally forgot about that conversation. He was a zero here because of O'Brien imo.

Yeah we knew what we were getting when we traded for himI got a buddy who's a niner fan. He was pretty sure that why lil shanny wasnt as high on him and let him walk as a free agent. Havent seen that dude in a while but I totally forgot about that conversation.
One dimensional back, but better than foreman

I disagree. He’s single handily made our running game enjoyable to watch again. I don’t know how much more running into the backs of our OL and going down at the first hint of contact I could stomach. The bad didn’t outweigh the rare good with miller for me. He’s been a pleasant surprise.I agree but that's why he is not some amazing trade acquisition
We got Hyde for Rankin who was being cut. Hard to ***** about the production we got for a cut. Hyde may not be a pass catching threat, but dude runs beast hard and has good vision. We have killed the clock a few games and ran the ball fine when the OL was healthier. Can we improve, sure, but fully agree it is refreshing to have someone who fights and gets hard yards. Just get a tear away undershirt please!I disagree. He’s single handily made our running game enjoyable to watch again. I think the jersey was made illegal in late 70's, but it was his undershirt. Not sure the rules on that! Are tear always illegal now?

Tearaway jerseys were banned in the NFL in 1979. The year after Earl Campbell's rookie season. Many want to give Greg Pruitt, Cleveland Brown scatback, credit as the impetus for the ban on tearaways. But, Pruitt had already played 6 seasons in the league without the clamor for outlawing the jerseys. One year of Earl Campbell in tearaways, and the NFL said "No freaking way."I think the jersey was made illegal in late 70's, but it was his undershirt. Not sure the rules on that!
Rankin should not have been on the cut list. We are now starting Chris Clark and giving time to Roderick Johnson and Dan Skipper
