FIRE O'BRIEN NOW!!!

I get the feeling Cal may have said to BoB that this year was AFCCG or bust. So BoB just said, '**** it, I'm going long', and if it doesn't work then it's someone else's problem...for the next three years.
I don't know. I would guess that Cal is whole hog in on BOB or he wouldn't let him trade away so much draft capital. My guess is that Cal and BOB sat down and decided to rip off the band-aid and try to fix all the wrongs of the past in one day. Cal is just as complicit as BOB in what went down today. We crapped the bed in getting value today but if BOB can get the most out of the talent we have, this can still work.
:koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid::koolaid:

Sorry, not being horrible but, when has BoB ever made a player better? We have several examples of the opposite.
A. J. Bouye...but he was traded.
How about the 2014 draft? Not a single player on the roster today.
  • Jadeveon Clowney, DE (South Carolina)
  • Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG (UCLA)
  • C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE (Iowa)
  • Louis Nix III, DT (Notre Dame)
  • Tom Savage, QB (Pittsburgh)
  • Jeoffrey Pagan, DE (Alabama)
  • Jay Prosch, FB (Auburn)

Were all in............ just have to watch and see.

Its done, future has been mortgaged............

DONT NONE OF YA'LL THINK BOB IS THE ONLY ONE MAKING ALL THE MOVED, CAL HAD TO OKAY THIS. PREACHER HAS TO OKAY THIS................. SO ON SO ON
23-year-old QB, two high-value draft pick rookies on the line and a Pro Bowl-caliber LT, and the skill positions are set...the future is now. Watson could get Oliver Lucked two years from now.

I get the feeling Cal may have said to BoB that this year was AFCCG or bust.

Surely they sat down yesterday,

Cal: So what you think?
Bob: uunnn... I don't know. We got a team. I mean we got a chance to win a few games.
Cal: A few games?
BO'b: well yeah... you know we planned on a couple of things they didn't work out.
Cal: is it too late to fix?
BO'b: hold my beer.

BoB basically did what people have been saying we need to do since Watson was in his rookie year. He put us in win now mode. This is not really any different than Denver in 15. Put all your eggs in one season and damn the next few years. Now you can argue that Elway was better at it but in reality we won’t know till after this season.

Elway looked like a genius because it worked, if it hadn’t he’d had looked as BoB will if this season doesn’t work. Do I agree with it, no but frankly nothing else has worked so F it, let’s do this and if it doesn’t work fire his chin ass and let’s go into rebuild mode.

At least it will be something different.

No he did not. He mortgaged the future without improving the team at all overall.

There is literally nobody who called for this. Prove me wrong.

lol just stop. I get being mad at the VALUE given up today, but you cannot sit there and say with a straight face that we didn't improve today. Tunsil is a legit LT, Stills is a great addition to an already stacked WR corps. If we stay healthy our offense will be dangerous. The key is for BOB to get out of the way on Game Day

Offense got better, defense got worse.

I've been hearing this dangerous O'Brien offense for years. It's nonsense.

Look at the odds. Look at the betting markets. No change. But we lost two first round picks! Mind boggling.

With a healthy Fuller this has been an explosive offense. Even Lamar Miller was looking good running up the middle.

Does it make sense to expect the lines to change before week 1? Sounds like a strange argument to make.

By that logic losing those 1st round picks didn't hurt the team?

Yes lines move on a continuous basis. They can move a month before or 5 minutes before.

With Fuller healthy...yes he needs 100% health supposedly. I'll believe it when I see it.

Clowney was never coming back, thought you would have known that. Our defense is probably going to step back a little this year, but we will be fine. The offense has the potential to make a giant leap forward.

Stills is the insurance for Fuller. Carter is the insurance for Coutee. All 5 of them make a dangerous rotation that teams will not be able to deal with. No defensive backfield is deep enough to handle all of those guys. Throw in Duke who is amazing out of the backfield and some really dangerous mismatches in our TEs and you have one heck of a spread offense.

He was planning on coming back until obrien was gonna trade him to Miami. This was reported widely.

Yes we've heard all this before.obriens play calling still blows.

Has any other lines changed? Does Vegas think Seattle is better because they got Clowney? Did Miami get better odds because of the picks we're sending them?

Lines move all the time. I haven't looked at those particular games but I can take a look later.

The colts dropped bigtime after luck retired.

Reported widely AFTER OB started talking in the media. The FACT is, we have no idea if Clowney ever wanted to report after the insult of an offer. I don't disagree that OB fucked up the Clowney situation from the start. He clearly didn't like Clowney since he came in as a rookie. Once they failed to trade Clowney this summer, it was evident that he was not coming back and he would be traded for peanuts.

With Miller being injured, OB will have no choice but to throw it a lot. Duke is great, but he isn't a 20-25 carries a game kind of back. Miller being hurt MIGHT be a blessing in disguise for the TEAM in general. It forces the offense to be more aggressive.

Yeah I agree obrien totally screwed it ul

We'll. It's still obrien and the line still sucks.

Seattle went from 7.5 point favorites to 9.5. it's not easy to tell why or when that happened, but clowney is probably part of it.

Miami went from 3.5 point dogs to 5 point dogs. I think they clearly got worse.

But the Texans got one good player and lost an even better one.

More the problem is how the Texans future was destroyed.

A team dropped big after its franchise QB retired one week before the season started with no warning? Wow, no one could have predicted that.

The fact is we did improve and we improved a lot. Was it worth it? We’ll know after the season is over.

The guy asked me if lines moved. It was an example.

What is your evidence the Texans improved ? Because you feel it? Lol

No he wasn't. He was willing to sign the tender if he wasn't traded to Miami.

You O'Brien nuthughers need to try to read the reports
Lol you and Mr Tex need to stop lumping people into categories when they disagree with your lame ass takes. Get off Twitter, kid. No one has any clue what Clowney was thinking. The fact remains, he never showed up. His reasons are irrelevant.

Tunsil is a positive but the cost is insane. He cost more than Khalil Mack. That's wack
Mack was less draft capital because he was also going to get paid big time (and trade was done at better time), Tunsil will get paid in two years so he is higher priced from a draft capital (not a better player). I am going to see if this team gels and we have the offense that could be with Kelly calling plays and these weapons, and hope the defense does not regress too much. I will judge by our progress in terms of playoffs. After this draft selloff we must get to the AFCCG this year or next and/or super bowl. I am tired of being embarrassed, and if mortgaging the future gets us there I will take it.

We should have a significantly better offense in a few weeks as people gel, and defense should be a bit worse. Mercilus is not Clowney but was out of position so Clowney could do his thing. ST may be worse, but good coach there to plug holes like Bademosi. We kept 5 TE's, Warring had to make the 53 to get IR designated to return, and I still think he gets stashed. After a few games let's judge the new look Texans. At least we cannot call them conservative or sitting on their asses. The "flat" organisation swung for fences today

Yes because Vegas never gets it wrong. The Chiefs winning the SB last year proved that.

You're right. We're the chiefs

Seriously?

No. No more gelling. They've been gelling for half a decade.

And lol at tunsil being worth more than Mack because of one extra year of control. That's bonkers.

Guess what, first round picks give you 4 years of control and obrien just traded two and a second!

See this is why you lose all credibility with your posts. Everyone that isn’t calling for O’Briens head every post and saying that the team ever improves at all is a “O’Brien nuthuggers” in your book. For some strange reason this is personal to you. Honestly at this point I don’t think there is anything the Texans could do right in your book even if we won every SB for the next 10 years.

They are actively doing things that are objectively harmful. Overpaying is bad. That is a rule you do not violate m

Wow, I did not know how that control works, thanks for educating me. We blow half our picks and if we are in the 20's, it takes two 1's to get in the top 10 to get top tackles so did we really overpay considering half the top tackles suck and we blow our picks??

We have Tunsil for his fourth and fifth year, two, Mack was immediate as I recall so 2 years.

Time to fire up the pit, tailgate, and drink those $8 beers at the game. I will judge by what happens now, not how I feel, the board feels, twitter feels. Let's get some snaps and see if DW4 and company light it up and go toe to toe with the legends

Because they still know OB gets out coached. Happens every game except against the rookie coaches and Hue Jackson.

And that is a legit argument, I’m excited for this season because we are finally going to get to see what kind of team we really have. The line and offense is good enough now that there are no more excuses. More than ever I feel justified when I say this is BoBs make or break season. If he makes it then all the claims that it was RS and not having talent are proven correct, if he breaks then there are no more excuses and the problem is him.
