2019 Training Camp

i wish you guys would stop acting like its a foregone conclusion Dillard is going to be an All-Pro just b/c he was the consensus best tackle available that we missed by 1 pick.

Draft experts get it wrong all the time & the Texans draft history suggests that we usually come out on top when it comes to these controversial picks.

Carr v Peppers - lost that one
Charles Rodgers v AJ80 won that one
VY/Bush v Mario - Won that one
Okoye v Willis - lost that one
D. Brown v reaching up for any of the other tackle prospects thought to be better - Won that
JJ vs Aldon Smith - Won that one
Nuk vs Cordarrelle - Won
Clowney v Mack - lost that one..but still got a helluva player
DW4 v moving up for Mahomes - Lost but still got a helluva player

we do ok when it comes to these types of controversial picks.

DW4 vs Mahones I would say is too early to call. They have a lot of career left and lets see how Mahomes does this year now the the opposition has a year of tape on him.

Foreman wasn’t exactly a whiff. He was having his breakout game when he tore his Achilles. Who would’ve thought an injury that serious would happen in his rookie season?
Several of us, including CnnnD. Foreman had injury problems coming out of UT and should have had immediate surgery, missing his rookie season. The Achilles may have been a compensatory injury. Who can say?

Shame as he looked a good back until he went down. Shame they wasted most of the offseason on him however as the writing was on the wall.

If anybody needed reminding of CnD's contribution to this message board, btw, it seems i was aware that this was going to happen a long time before OB did.

Dam...how did I not hear about it before. I mean people must be coming from all over the world, even Waco, to check out that building material store and rare good Mexican restaurant!. Just kidding. Thanks for the info. Now if I only knew where Cedar Park is..I Know, its up near a Dallas. Here is a fact. I’m a life long Texan, born in San Antonio, and I’ve never been to Dallas. Been to Fort Worth. Went through the Dallas airport several million times. Why never Dallas? The answer is why? Could care less about that part of Texas. IMO San Antonio, the western Hill Country and the mountain country of far west Texas rules.
Cedar Park and Leander are north of Austin off 183. Close to the north side of Lake Travis. Not near Dallas.

At that time it wasn't posted on the Texans page.

Another wasted draft pick, and I was right about him all along. Not that I appreciate being right in these circumstances, but it should have been easy for everyone to see.

Unless there is a sudden surprise for us that hasn't happened yet, we are going to have a terrible year trying to run which is exactly what OB loves to do.

Another year of self abuse for Texans fans.

Foreman was not a wasted pick. At the time he was the leading college football Rusher by far. In my opinion it comes down to two things. 1 as the nation leading running back his ego was probably a part of this. 2 he may have not been prepared to play emotionally after the injury. When he returned last year he seemed very tentative in planting his feet and cutting. If I am correct, it is time for him to move on and I'm not surprised O'Brien was fed up with him. Infantry cak suggested Josh Jacobs at number 23. We also could have had Damien Harris before PATs took him.

He was an INJURED draft pick. He was in an injury state before, during, and after he was drafted.

His sophomore year at University of Texas he only missed two games. His junior year started all games and rush for over 2000 yards. At combine he showed up overweight and was found to have a stress fracture. Shortly thereafter his pro day he had dropped weight and ran two 40-yard dash 4.35 seconds. He had a pretty good 2017 first year with Houston not having the Achilles until week 11 running for his 2nd touchdown 34 yards. Heavy men with stress fractures have played successfully football and basketball.

Does anyone know how Michigan RB, Karon Higdon has looked in camp? I wanted the Texans to draft him but he fell into their hands as an UDFA.

O'Brien's rant to Pancakes at the end of practice yesterday basically calling out Foreman and how bad he has been was writing on the wall. Pancakes asks how is the RB situation working out behind Miller and Foreman. OB says Miller then pauses and said its wide open to be the backup to Miller. Ouch and he's cut less than 24hrs later.

Both Crocket and Higdon have been reported to be looking very good so far in camp. Maybe lightning will strike twice and we will get an UDFA running back like Foster again. Not that we need someone like that mind you when we have our starter!!!

Last few years the OL looked good in camp

And last year the starting 5 in the pre-season (Davenport, Kelemete, Martin, Fulton, Henderson/Lamm) gave up 0 sacks in 3 pre-season games. Of course that was only 45 snaps with 25 being pass plays.

Just another example that pre-season games aren't going to tell you much. I'd rather see the scrimmages with the Packers on TV than the game. Those will probably tell you way more than you'd see in a game where they'll only play 10-20 snaps.

Injuries came fast and hard last year. Wasn't Henderson injured week one? Martin went down early as well I thought, don't recall exactly when, but seems like the cupid shuffle started in game one and our amazing talent evaluators never knew where to plug and play guys.

Did they just expect foreman to develop after injury? He had blocking problems coming in. Effort , he knew it was time to put up or shut up.

Man we drafted another TE and a FB yet we got one RB with experience.

I feel ya on the Howard pick.
Pretty sure thunder was being sarcastic. Had the Texans drafted a RB rather than OL in the first they would and should have been roasted.

I like Crockett a lot.

They need to add a vet RB, too. Breida and Duke are 2 RB's I would like to see them trade for.

No sarcasm. I think many would have been ok with it had they also went OL with their two 2nds

Many on here would have but the average fan that just saw Watson eating dirt 63 times, listening to the radio shows and ESPN talk about how bad the Oline was and how the Texans have to draft line would not have been. Most people only watch the first round of the draft and they may, at best, hear about the later rounds.

Just don't see him carrying the rock .

Smallwood will probably get cut by the Eagles.

I would give up a late rd pick for him.
