NFL Random Thought of the Day

I'm done with the Patsies and the non-charged Chargers. Obviously the Chargers didn't bring it today. I hope KC can beat the Patsies next week, I sure as hell don't want Brady and bunch in the frigging SB again. Maybe Brees will kick their ass if that does happen, that would be nice.

Patriot fatigue is real, I hate it

It appears that the Patriots are trying to run up the score on the Chargers since they were trying to score again when the clock ran out at half time. It seems they don’t plan to take any chances with a comeback like the one they did on the Falcons.

Ooo, looky there. Belichick did something stupid by challenging a potential fumble that they didn't recover. I guess when you're up 100 points, it doesn't matter.

OB and his staff should be all eyes on this game with one very important takeaway......you never play the game of football not to lose!!! Unarse that conservative approach and play ball to the wall for 60 minutes and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm going to be curious to see if Beli tries to re-sign Jason McCourty and if not, what's the price going to be for a top 5 CB who's 32 years old in 2019?

So now we have the Saints hosting the Rams next week. I like both these teams for different reasons, the Rams just because of their shiny offense and cool uniforms, and the Saints because they're the Saints and it's Brees. I'll be rooting for the winner of this game in the SB.

As to the Chiefs and the Patriots, I can't think of any worse situation. One of them goes to the SB, so now we'll either have to listen to the horrid man love and admiration of Brady The Great and the Prophet of Football Mr. Belicheat himself, or, we'll have to listen to the stories of the divine Mahomes who by this time will be rumored to be the only living descendant of Jesus.

This is one year I'm absolutely rooting for the NFC to win.

Go Saints! However, I wouldn’t be crushed if any of the remaining teams won, but I just like the Saints and my experience with their fans.

I think this is the order with which I'd prefer to see the SB end up..

Chiefs/Saints
Pats/Saints
Chiefs/Rams
Pats/Rams

..but honestly these are all at least fairly intriguing stories full of generational matchups.

MVP (Mahomes) vs MVP (Brees)
HoF (Belichick/Brady) vs HoF (Payton/Brees)
Young Lions vs Young Lions
Old Guard Legends vs New Age Threats

Wait, weren't the Saints down by 14 with 4 minutes to go in the 1st? It was proven the week before that you can't come back from that, right?

Surely Belicheats & Brady will hang it up if they win this one. I say let them win & be done with them.

I guess we can retire that old adage "Defense wins championships". The top 4 teams in scoring and total offense are playing in the conference championships.

I wouldn't go that far. Yeah in the regular season those teams weren't stellar defensively but all were this post season with two holding their opponent under 20 points. So those defenses stepped up especially since not many expected the Chiefs to hold the Colts offense to a single touchdown. After the first quarter the Saints defense shut down the Eagles, Chargers got most of their scores when the game was already out of reach and so forth. So all those teams had their defenses step up big time.

Quality QBs are such a rare commodity that I'm sure someone will take a punt on him, but I just can't get past the 5'10" height. Can he really be a success in the NFL?

How tall is Brees? Flutie?

Brees is 6'0". Flutie was 5'10". But 5'10" 30 years ago is probably more like 6' now.

So, those guys are at the very lower end of the distribution, and Murray's smaller still. I'm not saying it's impossible that he's a success, just that I'm pretty skeptical.

yeah, I was just thinking that talent trumps size... I don't know if he is that talented. Perhaps at RB or Slot instead? He can ball though

No, he'll go in the 1st as a QB, I'm sure of it.

If he gets a really smart OC to work with then he has a chance. As you say, there's no question he has the talent, but with his height he has one more thing to overcome in a process that already demands so much.

I can't find my quote, but I said pretty much the same thing about Russell Wilson in 2012.

His height, or lack of, is a concern. And yes, I'm sure someone can come up with 3 short guys out of a thousand QBs who made it in the NFL, but another thing to factor is that Murray is a 1 year starter. Very weary of guys like that, particularly at QB. Not a lot of those in this league. I'll just play GM on the internet, I wouldn't touch him before round 3 with a 10 foot pole. Might take a flyer on him in the 3rd and if I'm wrong so be it. A 1 year starter and 5'10" in the 1st round? No thanks.

I've never seen him play an inning of baseball but I seriously think he'd be better off there, as far as a career in pro sports is concerned. Unless he isn't that good. Then that would make sense to go for the payday in the NFL. Totally my opinion, of course, and not saying he can't take his game to the next level, but I just don't like his chances of being even an adequate NFL QB.
