NFL Random Thought of the Day

Well here we go - week 17.
Texans are in a pretty decent position with the Jags at home. Certainly not a gimme as this will be Jags swansong for 2018 but otoh, Titans and Colts are in a win and you're in, lose and bye bye situation.
I hope they have a close game and beat the crap out of each other for the entire 60 minutes to soften up the eventual winner as I think they will be our opponent in the WC game.

So did he pass?

#freakofnature

Too soon (especially this being around the Christmas/New Years hollidays) to have received results of double testing. If he ultimately has been found to test positive with primary and confirmatory test, an appeals process is begun. Negative results will not be reported by the League. Positive results will only be reported by the NFL after the entire process is complete. The player himself can report a negative result and the NFL will not comment/respond to or contradict the player's statement(s)..........be they true or false..............again, the NFL only reports on positive results following the completion of any appeals process.

Love ya, Doc J, but my reply was simply me joking around. I wasn’t looking for a serious answer. It was a great hit by Bosher and I throughly loved it. Who doesn’t love a kicker who can throw down?

:)

The Titans contend that Mariota has sustained a "stinger." Just like I contested that statement after his first "stinger"..........that he indeed suffered damage to his ulnar nerve at the elbow level................he landed on his elbow this last injury, which is consistent with ulnar nerve re-injury.............he is unlikely to play against the Colts..........but if he tries, he will be ineffective.

Gabbert is almost assuredly to be seen against the Colts.

The NFL list of coaching candidate for 2019's hiring period...

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...-has-list-of-coaching-candidates-ready-to-go/

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the first tier of coaching candidates consists, in no particular order, of Cowboys defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator Kris Richard, Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt (a two-time former head coach), Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak (former coach of the Titans), Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels (former Broncos head coach), former Packers coach Mike McCarthy, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores, and former Colts and Lions coach Jim Caldwell.

The second tier consists of Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen (former Raiders coach), Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley (former Jaguars head coach), Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale, and Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

Swag's got a new job and the folks who just fired him are about to be on the street. Just sayin'

Bernard Pollard had a propensity for personal fouls & a big mouth but he sure helped our D.

Being on his fifth stop (four teams) in six years says a lot. He was a knucklehead when he was here in Houston and he was a big enough knucklehead for it to offset his considerable talent. The team washed their hands of him quickly and in turn so did Tampa Bay, and now Washington. No doubt Arizona knows what they're signing up for. They didn't release him the first time. Just didn't try to keep him. Now he's essentially free and they need help so it makes sense but a player who is still talking about keeping his mouth shut "next time" at this point in his career is essentially what he is. Give him a year and he'll be bouncing around the league some more. Too talented to be out of work. Too much trouble to keep.

No doubt.

Not him specific, but wtf with they have to talk to the media but can be punished if they say anything negative? If you won't let them speak their mind, don't force a microphone on them.

Pollard helped then guys who are heavy hitters that can’t cover get exposed. No doubt swearinger can do some good things but he’s too stupid to realize he needs to muzzle himself. Reminds me of another dope in general vicinity.

The NFL forces players to appear for reporters. Seems to me they lose the right to beotch at that point. But yes, not smart.

What I'm suggesting is the players need to address this in the next CBA - either don't force them in front of a mic or you have to put up with what they say.

Agreed,

But they should know currently their words will be held against them unless they're star level players and will suffer the consequences if they dont. Like Swearinger did.

Mariota will not be starting today. His "stinger" is definitely not a "stinger," but a reinjury to his ulnar nerve.........which tells me he is done for the season/post season. The Colts will be facing Gabbert.

Bridgewater will be starting for the Saints Sunday........while Brees rests

So I'm wondering, can he still play? As a rookie he didn't look bad. Strange injury, fLuke injury, shouldn't affect the way he plays right?

He's auditioning today. May be a Jaguar in 2019.

I cannot see his mobility not being significantly affected...........and with such an injury he is high risk for re-injury of his knee and also of his other knee........not to even mention other lower extremity compensatory injuries. One game will not prove or disprove anything.

I want the Titans to win. If not, I want the game going deep into overtime. But in no circumstances whatsoever do I want this game to end in a tie.

Marvin Lewis is out in a mutual parting in Cincinnati.

Adam Gase out in Miami. Chris Grier takes over football operations.

Todd Bowles out from Jets.

Vance Joseph gone from Denver.

Of course Browns will look at replacing Hue Jackson.

Packers looking to replace Mike McCarthy

Buccaneers looking to replace Dirk Koettner

Arizona looking to replace Steve Wilks
