In 1991, the rule changed. Under the new wording, the referee is instructed to blow the whistle when a defensive player has a quarterback in his grasp ''only when (the quarterback's) safety is in jeopardy'' so that QBs could still get the ball out when the D has him wrapped but not his safety. The rule wording change has progressively allowed more liberal interpretation.They used to call "In the Grasp" on plays where the QB was wrapped up;
what happened to those calls?
Is that why we played so well yesterday?Sounds like another extension could be signed soon he’s not going anywhere.

Oh, and that baaaadddd man broke SF heart.
Someone on ESPN (can't remember which talking head) said Packers HC McCarthy and Rodgers were not getting along and the HC might be out after this season. If that were to happen I WISH McNair would jump on him because McCarthy knows how to architect an offense. I know it helps having the best QB in the NFL but the routes the WRs were running created consistent openings all over the place. Damn I just want BoB gone.
Honestly I am not so sure about this. A good majority of Green Bays offense is Rodger's improvising out there. They said as much in last nights coverage. That is the issue with the new set of receivers he has, they don't know how to play off of his improvisation yet. But Rodgers and Watson has similar play styles, so I guess you could make an argument that Mccarthy's offense allows for some improvisation. But winning 1 SB with Rodgers is pretty disappointing
all true but getting past the 2nd of the playoffs is more disappointing-er.
well I can confidently say McCarthy would not be as inept and flaccid as BoBs offense.yea, it's just hard for me to accurately judge a coach who coaches one of the greats. Like how much of NE's offense is on McDaniel's? Brady audibles to other plays all the time, i don't even know if they run what McDaniel's calls half the time. Same with Rodger's and McCarthy, Rodger's just does his own thing to much for me to really say McCarthy is some genius play caller. He very well could be, I just can't accurately say he is.

What is the Cowboys/Redskins game doing on CBS?
AFC games used to be on CBS and NFC games used to be on Fox. When did this change? After conditioning fans for yrs this is a stupid change. IMHO
Beginning in 2014, the NFL will also be able to "cross-flex" games between Fox and CBS, enabling CBS to televise NFC away games (including NFC vs. NFC contests), and Fox to broadcast AFC away games (including AFC vs. AFC contests).[33][34] The league can also "cross-flex" some of these games before the start of the season. For example, in 2014, the Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons game in Week 17, originally a 1 PM Fox game, was cross-flexed to 4:25 PM on CBS. Despite the two teams' losing records, they were playing a game where the winner would become the NFC South champion and host a first-round playoff game. As Fox already had crucial NFC North games with playoff implications, and CBS did not have any games with such assigned to 4:25 PM (games with AFC playoff implications had been assigned to 1 PM), the NFL reassigned the game to CBS at 4:25 PM to give affiliates a game with playoff implications at the time.
Amari Cooper to the Cowboys for a 1st rounder
But.... But.... no trades ever get made in the NFL.
Patrick Peterson has said he wants out by the end of the month. Is he worth a 2nd?
Terrible luck for the Bucks LB corps last night. LB Jack Cichy joins Kwon Alexander on the the ruptured ACL list...............ACL #41.
NFL is going to have to make cutting while running illegal for player safety sake with all these ACLs lol

You planning on acting like a dick and misrepresenting in every thread?
Yes, but with so so Amari Cooper getting a 1st you can bet the price will be higher for PP.

NY Giants bombed again last night on national TV as some 3rd round pick for the Falcons named Tevin Coleman out rushed the Giants shiny new #2 pick overall in the 2018 Draft Sequan Barkley.
The Giants were so ill advised to use that very high pick on a RB instead of going for a potential franchise QB to be Mannings replacement who is obviously over the hill, way over the hill.
Barkley will pay dividends. The Giants blundered in their off-season acquisitions and the trading of Manning's eventual replacement. They will get a QB in this draft and based on how they're playing, it could be one of the better college QB's.

Eli Apple was just traded to the Saints. No word on the return yet, this was a move I contemplated wanting the Texans to make.
Compensation for the former 2016 first round pick, a 4th and a 7th. I actually wouldn't have mind seeing the Texans make this move seeing what he was traded for. I think Apple is as talented as any corner coming out of this draft.
Third round picks Alvin Mentian and Kareem Hunt are amoung the best backs in this league. Use that #2 overall pick on a franchise QB or load up on picks by trading it to another team that wants to.Coleman "outperformed" Barkley because of 1 run, in which Landon Collins way over ran that play leaving no one between Coleman and the endzone. I've seen enough from Barkley so far to know even on this putrid offense the Giants have he is one of the best backs in the league

Gurley was the 10th overall and Gordon mid-first round, right ? IMO that's not too much to pay for an elite RB.So are Todd Gurley, Ezekiel Elliot, and Melvin Gordon(all first round picks) then you have Bell who is a 2nd round pick. Bottom line you can make a case based on players that you should wait to draft any position until later, not all the best QBs are round 1 picks right? Not all the best lineman, receivers, DBs, etc. are all round 1 picks are they? Bottom line if there is a player you feel is going to be great, like they and many others felt about Barkley, and he is the best player on your board take him. Sure Hunt and Kamara are really good backs, but they also play on a loaded offense in which they almost never go against stacked boxes, Barkley as a rookie is accounting for 40% of their offense currently as a rookie, only a feat in which Dickerson and Faulk have done. I too think the Giants needed a QB bad, it sucks watching what should be a very potent offense single handily neutered by Eli Manning, but on the bright side now they have a stud RB, and will most likely have a top 5 pick to get their QB.

On December 27, 2017, Apple was suspended by the team for the 2017 season finale after reportedly getting into an argument with coaching staff about being on the scout team and for a "pattern of behavior that is conduct detrimental to the team".[27]

Wondered why a 2016 first round CB, 23 year old 3-year pro would go so cheap and guess that's the answer - another knuckle-head.

Elliot top five, too much IMHO.
Agree it's a little bit arbitrary. Ahem, I'd stick pretty close with top 5 though.Where is the exact pick cutoff that would be acceptable/not acceptable? 6 ... 7 ... 8 ... 9 ... or is it only at 10? And how is this imaginary, arbitrary line determined one pick from the next? If 10 is ok then why not 9?
No he’s not. He’s an immature momma’s boy. That’s always been his knock. He’s also very entitled. That doesn’t rub teammates well; hence the locker room cancer stuff. As far as I know, zero legal troubles.

Sources: #Patriots RB Sony Michel’s knee injury is not considered serious following his MRI. His timetable isn’t clear, but this is pretty good news for their impressive rookie runner. He still could miss time, but if he does, it may not be much.
