**Official Wild Card Playoff Game-Day Thread** Raiders at Texans, Saturday Jan 7, 2017!!

It's really hard to destroy Osweiler in this game. He was actually pretty good. Let's not give him a lot of credit just yet. Clowney was amazing in this game.
Let's hope the Texans make the right decisions and right calls next week.
We'll see the strides this team takes next week.

You know, I heard the commentators say that Watt has been cleared to play by the doctors. He's not in playing shape, but ???

I am happy we won! Feels good to get a playoff victory even against a 3rd stringer.

My concern is the run up the middle plays for 0 yards... Like 15 times. If we do that crap against the pats or chiefs we lose.

I hope our game plan is fantastic for next week.

We are one out of 8 teams in the league to make it to the 2nd round... even without our best player (arguably best player in the league) for basically the whole season. I know we're not a perfect team, and it's going to take a miracle to beat the Pats, but I'm really proud of this team.

Assheimer has to do this two times in a row before I quit calling him assinfarter or whatever else I can think of.

But he did come through today, finally, gotta hand him that.

If Assweieler beats the Patriots I will eat a crow in real life with the feathers on it grilled.

Numbers still don't look good. 186 yards, 56% completion 6 ypa... something like that.

Really need to find an interior pass rush to rattle Brady.

He was bad but he didn't make any lINTs. I'm not thrilled but he did what we needed.

Lamar Miller was terrible. 31 carries for 73 yds. That's unacceptable. Goes down at first contact. Not sure why they don't goto akeem hunt and Grimes more

Yup, Miller is timid to contact. He essentially goes down when contacted and if in open field, he'd rather run out of bounds than use a stiff arm and fight for a near guaranteed extra 5 yards. He's basically been a waste as a FA. You could get any number of rookies to fill his production.

Staying positive from here on out. I'm a realist and I've been down on this team all year because I can see it for what it is. That said, we're playing with house money right now. I made a New Years resolution to lay off the booze for 90 days (along with other things like bad food, etc to try to kick start losing some tonnage) so I didn't have a drop today, but maybe for the next game I'll make an exception lol? Maybe it will help with the turnout I fear will happen haha.....

Time to go find my glue and shattered rose colored glasses.

GO TEXANS!

For Assweiler it was a great game. No turnovers and actually threw downfield. For NFL standards though no, not a great game.

Exactly. For Texan fans, when you're used to crap, crap that doesn't smell as bad is heartily welcomed. That won't do against New England, but for today it was good enough.

A big chunk of those 73 yards came on one play where he ran to the outside around the defense - hello...

Your team just won the Super Bowl!

Well yeah but my quarterback sucks balls, they'll implode next year......

Raiders' David Amerson on officiating: 'Calls were one-sided'

Raiders cornerback David Amerson didn't mince any words when it came to how the referees called the game.

"We're out there battling, they're pushing off, they're pushing us, we're battling, we're playing, and all of the calls were one-sided," Amerson said.

The Raiders were called four times for pass interference or defensive holding.

The Texans were called once for offensive interference.

Amerson was called for pass interference in the end zone on DeAndre Hopkins to set up the Texans' final touchdown.

"He can get away with everything, but as soon as I do anything, they call something," Amerson said. "I feel like it was big points in the game where it happened.

"The dude has one foot in bounds, falling, and we can't review it. It was just craziness. At the end of the day, hats off to them, they beat us, but I don't care what nobody says -- it was one-sided.

"If a dude can hold me off, they should let us play or call that. I'm not trying to make excuses or say it was the refs' fault, I've got to be better, but at the end of the day, it was one-sided.

Remember when people were saying Khalil Mack was just as good as JJ Watt?

Fun fact of the day, along with me, the three of us will have the same number of sacks this playoff season.

The Texans have already used their IR-return. So even if Watt was ready, they can't activate him.

It gives me the willies every time I see #34 back to field a punt. Late in the game it was taking an unnecessary chance.

Great win. Some strong play in all the units, special teams included.

As nice as this win is, as great as energy that the team and home fans came out with, as good and mistake free as Brock played especially WITHOUT the help of a good run game,

Still felt Texans should have put 30+ points on them. Its not so much about the Raiders, its the PATRIOTS of the league. 27 points is BASELINE, not the high to beating them.

But then if the Texans had that kind of firepower they wouldnt be a 9 win team in the first place, so.... here's hoping to a defensive grind-it-out sludgefest next week!

I have seen Brock be at least competent with a faster pace and spread out offense. It is up to the head coach to ensure he plays to his teams strengths.

Especially the quarterbacks.[/QUOTE

in case you missed the entire season, it has been demonstrated that coach, does not trust that QB, in this football season. the ball has been taken out of the QBs hands over and over. Nothing for me over analyze or get mad about this point. See next September for an offense that is going run much differently.

Well, yeah... But you have to take the game into account. This wasn't a shootout. This was a game where we had a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter and we were playing a rookie QB that wasn't doing much against our defense. We could afford to go turtle. Do it again vs. the Patriots and we will regret it.

Didn't Os have over 150 yards through the air in the 1st half? I think the 168 is more reflective of us going turtle in the 2nd half. Edit: just looked it up. Osweiler went 12/18 for 146 yards in the 1st half.

Basically this. He went 2-7 22yds for in the 2nd half. (not including the 2penalties on OAK for 22 yards and 2 first downs, one leading to his rushing TD).

I'm still most impressed he actually threw an accurate slant pass twice today.

True, the Texans can afford to play it safe this game.

Against the Pats, they most likely won't even have the chance to try it.

Yes, in *this* game it seemed appropriate. I didn't fear Connor Cook engineering a big comeback. If they did that against Derek Carr it would have been a terrible "strategy". That said, I've seen this in too many other games with more dynamic offenses that can score three times in 7-8 minutes if you play the "turtle" game, complete with run-run-run-punt offense and a prevent defense.

I stay same for next weeks game

Yeh, I thought that was the case. The commentators spoke as if there was actually the possibility it could happen if he and/or the organization wanted it to happen. Thought there might be an angle I didn't know about.

Took care of business at home and looked strong at times, exceeded my expectations, great job.

Let's go Fins!
