NFL Random Thought of the Day

Boy, the Browns continue to be snake bit. Their kick Murray has been placed on IR after suffering an ACL during practice yesterday. It was his left knee..........the same knee that he tore his ACL in 2014. He is a right-footed kicker. The ACLs therefore occurred when he planted back foot, which is a classic mechanism that a kicker suffers such an injury.

I just realized Andre Johnson is,coming home this week in a titans uni. Do u think we will boo the crap outta, him prob so ....

The one thing I give Keenum credit for are those rainbow jump balls he tosses up. Gives the WR the chance to make a play. Well done on that TD to Austin.

Watching Colts @ Chargers now. Today, if the ball is not catchable they do not call pass interference.

I wish we had these guys Thursday night. Two of the PIs against us wouldn't have been called. Or at the very least would have been called holding.

Random Thought:

There are five, count 'em five, undefeated teams left after week three.
Broncos
Eagles
Vikings
Ravens
Patriots

Only one of those teams has an "established" QB under center. I'm not counting Bradford in MN because he just got there.
However, 4 of the 5 are in the top ten in defense.

Still think it's a QB league?
:hmmm:

Edit: Yeah, yeah, I know it's early.

Very interesting...
This Is A Brilliant Way To Exploit The Rulebook

It’s well-known that a kickoff out of bounds is a penalty, with the ball placed on the 40-yard line. It’s less well-known that the ball is out of bounds if it’s touched by any player who’s out of bounds, even if the ball itself is a couple of yards from the sideline. Ty Montgomery knew it.

The Packers’ returner smartly wheeled out of bounds, then stretched to touch the live ball, baffling the Fox broadcasters but not the officials.

The Patriots won 11 games with Matt Cassel, they're 3-0 with Garropolo and Brissett. Is Tom Brady really the GOAT we all think he is or could anybody have been that guy with Belichick?

Brady gets traded to Houston in 2004. How does his career turn out?

Brady is really that good. But Belichick is also really that good. It's not as if Cassel and Brissett were seen taking over games with their arms and shredding defenses. They got great efforts from defense and special teams, and the arguable greatest coach ever schemed to eff and back his opposing coaches to a whole bunch of wins the majority of other coaches wouldn't. Garoppolo is a little different. Lot of people thought he was a genuine talent coming out and he began to flash why to start this season. But even his nice 2 game showing doesn't take away from over a decade of consistently great play from Brady.

Would Brady have had the same career had he come here or any other bottom feeder to start his career ... only maybe, but I don't think so. Ultimate team sport and all that though. All the greats, Montana, Marino, Elway, Staubach ... they all fell into really good situations that fostered their talent and assured them that much more reasonable a chance to succeed. And who knows which also-ran we'd hold in that esteem today if draft picks had turned just one direction or another differently. Maybe Bernie Kosar playing for Bill Wash is an alternate reality with a whole other GOAT conversation. You could play that kind of what if game for days.

Bottom line is we may be seeing the greatest QB ever just so happen to be playing for the greatest coach ever. Maybe they're each only marginally near that kind of acclaim without the other. Maybe their combined effort has continually pushed the other to greater heights. Hard to say. But after watching these two shred a parity induced league for a decade and a half I'm at a point to not question either of them their greatness.

Peanut allergies?

That effer is built like truck, so I wouldn't dare poke fun of the hat. although those hats like badass in western movies. The cosby sweater is weirder than the hat and spectacles.

It's a mix of Mr Peanut and Harry Potter. Exciting football player, garbage dresser.

Kinda feel that that with the size and speed of players nowdays..maybe it would be wise to ease up on the cleates that grab and turf that is perfect....along with a man size limit

If @DezBryant hairline fracture in weight bearing portion of knee, will be a mutli-week absence. Can't risk displacement of bone.

This is a tibial plateau fracture.......a fracture that goes through the cartilage bearing surface of the tibia (knee). This fracture not uncommonly results in cartilage damage in the disrupted region. Without seeing the MRI, I'd have to empirically recommend to be cautious not to further the risk of extended effects on the cartilage or even extension of the hairline to a gross fracture, I would try to not expose the area to further trauma for at least 6 weeks from the time of injury, even if Bryant thinks it "feels" good.

Redskins Coach Jay Gruden acknowledged Wednesday that rookie Josh Doctson’s lingering Achilles’ tendon ailment has him very concerned and may lead to the team sitting its first-round draft pick for several games in the hopes that it will expedite his recovery.

According to Gruden, a battery of tests on Doctson’s Achilles’ has shown no structural damage that indicates any reason for long-term concerns. Nonetheless, Doctson continues to report pain and an inability to push off as he would like, often on mornings following days of increased activity.

Gruden telling an incomplete story. This chronic recurrence of his Achilles tendon problem is classic for Achilles tendinosis...........the result of overuse creating a degeneration (not necessarily a structural disruption) of the tendon structure which is a part of a prodome commonly experienced prior to an overt rupture of the Achilles tendon.

Aren't Texans fans glad Smith didn't draft Devier Posey II

We've all seen a ballooning of injuries in the past few years from the ratcheting back of contact practices, especially in OTAs and preseason.........but when you miss all those activities altogether, you have a Joey Bosa who is now going to miss his 4th regular season game with a hamstring tear.

Any thoughts on Siemian's injury? I hear it's left shoulder.

He's sustained an A/C separation. Pain will be a factor, but since it's his nonthrowing shoulder, I doubt that he misses any games. Now I do believe teams will try to bring him down on that shoulder. If that does occur, as a pain thing, he could be knocked out of a game temporarily or the rest of the game, but would probably return the next game.
