Texans random thought of the day

Why are not scouts held responsible in public for players they bring forward to draft? Regardless of who picks player, coach or GM or even owner, I'd like to know who recommended Watt and who recommended busts or below average guys. I doubt it is seldom that coach/owner/gm ignores a favorable scout report and goes with another player; not saying it does not just doubt it's often. If fans get to critique management, why not scouts?

Strong looked like a vet his two targets, the TD and the sideline catch; he deserves more targets. His stats 6/87 avg 14.5 3 TDs.

Blue seemed to run directly north/south and did well. When he jukes around, he rarely gets yardage. I thought he was bench against NE but then saw he had injured back 2 games before that.

Where was Mumphery first half? Short was ok but I'd rather have him at WR & Mumphery handling returns.

Clowney was constantly in backfield, very satisfying play. I don't want talk history just this season and he is heading right way.

I am not predicting what round we leave playoffs just pleased that after our start; injuries, QB fiascos, etc. we can talk about playoffs realistically. Sure we all know weaknesses and have our own complaints but those can be dealt with after the fat lady sings.

It matters because if this is an example of O'Brien's "QB guru-ness" color me underwhelmed. Also means that no matter who we trade for, pickr up in F/A, or draft, O'Brien will shackle him. Changing QBs won't address root cause of our problem.
Didja see the performance Jeff Fisher got out of Case Keenum (who's 4-1 in his last five starts in St. Lou by the way). But Case wasn't good enough for O'Brien to keep.

Case has only started 3 games for the Rams. He is 2-1 in those games. He had a good game against TB, but very pedestrian numbers against Baltimore and Detroit, both of which are middle of the pack defenses and bad teams overall.

Fair enough. I got the 4-1 stat from one of the talking heads doing the Rams/Buccs game the other night.
That's what I get for not double checking those dummies.

Little wonder, JJo's devastating hit on Griff Whale that caused the fumble/ Texans recovery, also fractured several of Whalen's ribs...........he's been placed on IR.

BJ Daniels may have been signed to replace Shorts. Most probably don't know, but in the end of Dec 2013, Shorts underwent a left sports hernia repair after playing in pain a good part of the season. A re-injury to his repair would not be good. Furthermore, a player with a history of a sports hernia repair on one side is a higher risk for a sports hernia being present or developing on the other.

Thought I had edited to say he is 4-1 in his last 5 starts, but two were for the Texans. He has still been pedestrian, but give the boy credit for being 4-1.

Texans cut Marcus Williams from the PS last year. He's T-4th in INT in the NFL The guy he was cut for kicked 2 FGs & 4 XPTs yesterday 4 PIT

This is the kind of thing that has happened again & again in Houston. The kind of thing that makes me think Rick & his team are much better than we give him credit for & the dude we're putting in charge of the 53 is clueless.

I'd much rather see that privilege stripped from OB, than getting a new GM with the same structure we have now.

& the next time we hire a HC with no NFL headcoaching experience, we don't give him that caveat until he's earned a second, or better yet third contract.

I didn't notice that Whalen was the one who fumbled, but that injury makes his tackle on the play even more impressive. Kareem would've been able to ice the game but Whalen chased it down from behind and all I could think was 'if we lose the game, it's because of that tackle'.

By being active in Week 16 & 17 Brian Cushing will exceed his LTBE roster bonus, team will lose $156,250 in cap space over the next two weeks. No other players.s are expected to exceed their specific LTBE roster bonus for 2015.
103 tackles and two games to go; very glad team has to pay the bonus

Agreed. He may not be the guy he was three years ago, but he's not chopped liver. Here's to him continuing to get better & becoming that guy we need him to be.

The #Texans are the only team in the AFC South with Pro Bowl representatives. League-wide, six teams had none.

First time Pro Bowl selection, Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins has had this honor as a goal since he got to the... http://espn.go.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0471124562008873400-4 …

#Texans receiver @nukdabomb gets a well-earned first-time Pro Bowl nod. @JJWatt gets his fourth selection. @duanebrown76 is an alternate.

I hope you enjoy medicrity.

My first thought was, "There is a gay community roster bonus?" Not that there is anything wrong with it...

He's not the playmaker he once was, but he is a solid ILB. I think he gets one more season under his current contract. After that, he'll need to restructure if he wants to remain a Texan.

I admit I don't watch a lot of other LTs play, but a bit surprised Duane didn't make the pro bowl. I thought he had a really good season.

JJo also had a pro bowl worthy season, but I understand he doesn't have the INT number required to gain some attention.

They didn't do it that poorly actually. And they even mocked the Cowboys. So kudos to them.
PS Reminds me that I sometimes cringe when I hear German German accents. No offense.

That's cool. I didn't realize they aired Texans games in Austria.

Interesting tidbit on Daniels. He was making $30,000 a week on Seattle's practice squad. Minimum PS pay is $6,600 per week. Daniels' PS salary in Seattle is equal to minimum salary contract base of $510,000 per year. So Daniels will make the same salary on Houston's active roster as he did on Seattle's practice squad.

Appears the opportunity to play QB was the main reason for him joining the Texans.

Why isn't anybody talking about how JJ Watt isn't as effective now with his broken hand? He's obviously our best option, but we need him at 100% if we want to do well in the post season.

Maybe but we need him on field even at 75% to win going forward. If we clinch tomorrow night, I would sit him against Jags

Sitting him isn't going to help him get any healthier any quicker. If anything, he needs more reps with that club, learn to use it to his advantage. Playing next week may be just what he needs to be that monster we need him to be for the playoffs.

You think Watt need more reps to play better? He has been a monster for at least 2 years. Sitting him is not about getting him healthier but to keep him from getting seriously injured in a non-significant game. Unless Denver loses tomorrow, we will need him on field, unfortunately

The reward isn't worth the massive risk like blowing out his knee.

I think the Texans situation calls for ALL HANDS ON DECK!
