Report: Texans and Raiders in Serious Trade Talk for Matt Schaub

lol, they never learn

Don't forget the Carson Palmer experiment as well. Haha.

We have a guy like the Raiders in our Fantasy Football league too. He constantly makes dumb moves and typically finishes at the bottom of the league. I guess fantasy football is alot like the NFL? Haha.

It's at best, a 6th rounder.

Also, amazing80 might bring up a valid point or two but his posting style is a complete turnoff and is structured to incite name calling and other terrible nonsense.

Get over yourself dude, you aren't the smartest guy in the room.

Both of you are wrong. This deal is just a rumor, it has not happened yet. MS is still a Texan.

EDIT: Plus, with that horrible degenerative injury he has, how do you expect him to pass a physical?

If he doesn't pass the physical, they'll just cut him.

If I have stepped on some toes and came off arrogant or insulting, I apologize. I can be very blunt and pushy when I am passionate about something. I did not mean to come off like I did. I will try to do better in the future.

John McClain said this would never happen. John McClain is never wrong. I stand with John McClain.

McClain said we won't be trading for Mallet, we won't be signing Matt Cassel, & Schaub won't be a Houston Texans in 2014... so far he's 3 for 3.

I've seen you post on FF's forums too, there I can see it being more accepted since a bunch of huge ego's float around. There are a few here as well but there is knowledgeable people as well, and I think we're going to see a lot more heated discussion in the next month and a half over the draft itself. Last time we had the #1 pick was when the record for users on site was set, and I don't see it being much different this time around.

I'm happy with this move. We got a late round pick and we were able to take our cap lumps this year, rather than pushing part of it off to next year. We are going to have quite a bit of money next year and the only big time free agents we will need to resign will be Watt and Kareem Jackson, assuming we want to keep Jackson.

I lost IQ points just reading that stupidity ...

That's assuming you had any IQ points to spare.

I'm sure that you are praying it is simply a rumor.

No, I am hopeful the Texans right the ship, and get back to winning. I must say I am not impressed with bringing in someone like Fitzpatrick, but that is neither here nor there. It's all you haters that have so much invested in this not me.

I've said in many of my posts Schaub would not be a Texan in 2014 and it was time to move on, but because I defend the over the top distortions some of you Schaub haters spew, and don't fall in line with the many of you, that I am somehow a chump, or relative of Schaub.

It's my opinion that many of you care more about being right, than the Texans getting better as a team. If everything was going great, and the Texans were winning, you would have nothing to pontificate on. Admit it it, this message board, and what you think about yourself is your whole life.

Kind of like how you, and you ilk attach your self esteem to how he Texans play.

As you were...

I think thats a little unfair. They are not real enthused about egos and arguing there. They IMO are more strict with users (a little overbearing at times). Either way, I was in the wrong in this instance and let my emotions get the better of me, sorry to infantry and the others that I may have upset.

You spent the last 2 months tirelessly defending the notion that Schaub gave us our best chance to win next year. Why would it be off base to assume that you would prefer to keep him around? Basic logic.

Anyway, you really aren't worth going back and forth with, it's just funny to see this happen and have you come in talking about how it's "just a rumor."

Good job becoming the very first person I have ever ignored on this board, after 8 years.

What an honor... Thanks!

I for one hope he does well in raidernation now the Texans have to figure out wtf they are doing

Me too, and yea, would be nice if any of us had the slightest idea of wtf is going on with the 2014 Texans.

It's all good. I definitely get snarky at times.

I know you have a high opinion of yourself, and what you say, but the Texans do not give a crap what I think or prefer, any more than they do what you say or think.

When the trade is announced officially and Schaub has passed his physical, post all the memes you want and shout "I told you so" all you like. Until then, it's just more hot air.

This Nitro is not the deaf Nitro. We have the deaf Nitro and the douche Nitro.

:spit:

Yes, not the same person. Deaf Nitro is a good dude. Douche Nitro, not so much.

Cool. Well f him then. :D

BUT, Good Nitro changed his name from NitroHonda (iirc) to Nitro something else, right? Or do I have a tumor?

EDIT: Just looked it up, NitroGSXR is who I thought I was talking to. Nitrofish, free rep today as it turns out. Can't beat that, right?

Wonder if we can do one of those "we get a 2015 7th round pick that turns into a 3rd or 4th if Schaub can ___________ in 2014" deals.

What is over the top about being happy that a pricey under performing QB is not longer the leader of the offense and is playing elsewhere? Up until last season Schaub was a good QB. The bottom dropped out and that happens. I'm glad we're moving on and hopefully for him he gets his career back on track. He was a good player and good rep in the public. But he 'was' and that's is the bottom line.

And you are wrong. Most people, I dont know of anyone that posts here that doesn't want this team to be great would rather be wrong about our opinions and have this team be successful than play armchair GM and say 'I told you so' after this team goes down in flames. You on the other hand should take a long look in the mirror, put down the pom poms and stop playing armchair cheerleader so you can see the plain truth about this team. It wasn't very good last season and much of the problem started with the awful QB play.

There is a great misconception of the term failed "physical" when applied to the NFL.

When a physician evaluates a patient, by history or physical, impressions are formed and conclusions lead to recommendations.

In an NFL "evaluation," passing a "physical" (short of a life-threatening condition) is mostly dependent on how much risk the team's willing to take with this player........not a guarantee of performance. The label is sometimes more in the hands of the organization than it is in the hands of the doctors. One team may determine that a player may be passed if he is willing to undergo a surgery. Another team may pass the player on the basis that he can still walk. Yet, some teams may be willing to take the risk if the player (as was in the case of Reed) is still breathing without ventilatory support.

EDIT: And all of this may still be predicated on having decent evaluating doctors to begin with.

Amazing, I put no stock in to this happening. I have to eat my words. I posted in a thread that there is no way this would happen. I kept checking just in case, but thought this was a lost cause.

Way to go Rick, almost makes up for the Reed thing, almost.

More wary of wandering into the main board after it happens, because the Schaub lovers will be chewing everyone out for a while after.

Probably, but it'd be impossible to surpass the type of BS we witnessed after sausage boy beat us in Reliant. Painful!!

From Walterfootball:

SNIP...
With all of that said, I don't like this move for the Raiders. The late-round pick is no big deal; it's the $11 million that Oakland must pay that is crucial. Schaub is not a good quarterback, so he definitely doesn't deserve that sort of money. Also, there's a chance that Schaub won't even be the Week 1 starter. The Raiders are still in play for a franchise signal-caller at No. 5 overall or perhaps the second round. If they take one, that quarterback could easily beat out Schaub before the season begins.

As for the Texans, they deserve a very high mark because they were able to obtain something for Schaub. Everyone assumed they were simply going to cut him, yet they were somehow able to dupe the Raiders into surrendering a draft pick for him. That's nice work by Houston being patient.

Grade for Raiders - C-
Grade for Texans - A

I hope like hell A80 don't see this. Those panties will be wadded so tight it'll take the Jaws of Life to cut him out. :kitten:

Can't wait until we successfully trade Schaub. He is the last piece to finally waking up from last season's nightmare. Let's get rid of Mr. Pick-6 and I would be more than happy to get a 6th round pick for him. At this point in time, I would be content with a bag of potato chips.

Big fan of this move.

We unload Schaub and actually get something back in return.

We also get rid of his ridiculous contract and eat all the dead money now, leaving us free to make some impact moves next year.
