There's no way Schaub is ready by Game 1 of the reg season.
IIRC, it was CND who was saying that the best and smartest route to go with Schaub is to see him midway through the reg season.
Depending on Schaub's ability to HEAL and subsequently REHAB, then throwing into the mix the whole issue of him having to take practice on the field AFTER rehabbing it to see how it holds up under a simulated game scenario of really pushing off that plant foot and seeing how it responds to real action, then you're looking at midway through 2012.
This idea that it's like Manning or Briesel's situation where you stay off it for a awhile and then you're back on it and ready to go a little while after is wrong. The Linsfranc is what keeps your foot from becoming a jelly-like floppy skin bag full of loose bones that rattle around. It's a BIG deal, and I don't see how anybody could reasonably anticipate that Schaub will (A) be running around at camp, (B) playing in preseason games, and (C) ready to take QB1 by opening weekend of the 2012 reg season.
Yates will be QB1, folks. And do not rule out Leinart getting cut in camp and Delhomme as QB2, either.
Make no mistake, I know that Bob McNair, Rick Smith, and Kubiak will all three be expecting to see Schaub at SOME point in 2012...because they all three have a huge, huge, HUGE decision to make for 2013. HUGE. Gigantic. Franchise QB decision making to do. So they will get him out there, but Yates will be QB1 on opening day. I bank on that.
