Can we beat the Ravens?

TEXANJAK

Texans #1
We have improved little by little on the defense allowing smaller passing yards against us.(But we still allowed 301 yds from the Eagles) So if the players want to keep Kubiak and possibly their own job next year.The Texans will flick that switch and when these must win games the rest of the year.

of course we can, the ravens barely beat the bills and lost to cincy.. but they could also destroy us like last time they visited in 08

depends on which teams show up on both sides

I don't think 'can we' is the question you want to ask....'will we' beat the Ravens?....maybe.

Not trying to be a bummer but the Texans record/mentality in big games is not good. And this game is monumental.

Anquan Boldin against this secondary is worrying me
While I like Boldin and appreciate his toughness & competitiveness, he's going to represent a breather for our young Dbacks compared to some of the deep-threat WRs they already faced.

I don't think this team has what it takes to beat the Ravens. Unless the Ravens screw up and hand us the game, we are 5-8 along with the Tits after Monday night. But has been said a billion times, who knows what the Texans will do?

No we cannot beat the Ravens. As long as we are mathematically in the playoff hunt the Texans will choke it away. Not to mention Matt will probably get knocked out of the game by Ray Lewis and Suggs.

Yes, we can. No, we won't. We might have what it takes to win; we just haven't figured out what it is. I have been Pollyanna for lo these many years and I've now lost hope. I'll be there cheering.

SUre the crazy thing about the texans is u never know which team will show up

I truly believed they were going to beat the Jets. And the sad part is that they should have!

This team doesnt have what it takes to finish off the big boys. Lets look at our 5 wins this year.

Indy = 6-6
Skins = 5-7
Raiders = 6-6
Chiefs = 8-4
Titans = 5-8

And yall think we can beat the 8-4 Ravens, who have beaten the Jets, and Pitt?

Are we still in the playoff hunt? Yep, so that means we won't win.

We need to lose out if you ask me. I want 5-11 or 6-10 and I want it bad.

Kubiak must go!!

Can we? Yes, definitely. Will we? I've had as much kool-aid in the past as anybody, but I don't think so. They just haven't shown they can go toe-to-toe with a smash-mouth team like the Ravens. I'd like to be proven wrong.

No, we DO know which team will show up.

I think we're even to the point, now, where the statement of "We never know which team will show up" is no longer applicable. It's expiration date was the Cowboys game of this year.

We only beat the Redskins because the Redskins fell down and forgot how to get back up.

This team is not Jekyll and Hyde, as we have been terming it.

This team is the guy who waits for someone to mess up and then SOMETIMES is able to capitalize it. It can't make it's own opportunities. It's dependent upon others. It is the NFL version of the American people.

So, this is "America's Team" for sure.

Unfortunately, this is spot on.

I'm with the consensus. We could beat the Ravens, our defense could come out and not give up 300+yards, our offense could actually do something of value in the first half, Schaub could run for a first down on 3rd and 2, Slaton could get a return past the 25 yard line, Kubiak could properly utilize his weapons, and the Texans could avoid a collective meltdown of :kubepalm: proportions.

Sadly, we are who we thought we were. Here's to cheering them on though.

Boldin will be singled-up plenty, and Flacco has a cannon arm. The Ravens
will run Ray Rice and McGahey until the Texans stack 11 in-the-box, then
go over the top to a physical Boldin. Don't forget, the Ravens also
have one of the best tightends in the NFL. The middle of the field will
be wide open with the Ravens running game being what it is.

The Texans effectively have no safety over-the-top. Beat the cornerback,
and you've got a touchdown. That has been the case all season, I don't see
why they'll change it in the 13th game.

Can we beat the Ravens? Can WE beat THE RAVENS? *hits podium with fist* CAN WE BEAT THE RAVENS?

Maybe.

I'm pretty sure that Heap will be out so yes we will help create the next best tightend in the NFL!!

Not to jump on everyone else's bandwagon but-yes we can but, no we won't.

Lets just say that Ed Dickson should be the biggest pickup in fantasy football this week...

you know that is actually a really good point my main worry this week is that they will get their running attack going though on our beat up line and LB core... but yeh boldin is nothing compared to some of the WR's we faced I will say our only hope is to stop the run if we do that then there is a chance.... not a good chance .... but a chance....

Ya know , I really don't care because they spit the bit once again and even if they win a couple ... so what ... they didn't do it when it counted .

I think the Texans lose out or maybe win one more game at the very least.

You don't think they can beat Jacksonville, Denver or Tennessee? If they can somehow beat Baltimore I can possibly see them winning out too. Too bad if that happens Indy will also win their remaining games. :kitten:

I think the Jags will give us their all because they always do plus they are up for the AFC South and the Titans will be looking for revenge at home.

The Texans also give their all against Jacksonville, though. There is bad blood between Tennessee & Houston. I can see Andre Johnson going nuts in the rematch with Finnegan propelling Houston to a victory. Baltimore is definitely the only team that scares remaining on the schedule.

Maybe so. I hope you are right. We shall see.

This is true, but Boldin isnt their deep threat. Mark Clayton has breakaway speed but he doesnt have sure hands alot of the time. I think that he will wear out our DB's which will allow for Boldin to eventually get behind the secondary.

Where our defensive sacks go, so goes the game. The Ravens’ pass protection has sucked big time. They've allowed eight sacks over the past two games and 17 over the past five games. We'll see if the Texans D can take advantage of the situation........or if they win the Battle of Suckitude.

Interesting to read the predictions of The Baltimore Sun's McClain counterparts. Even the "Schmuck" on the staff picks us to lose.

Baltimore Sun staff picks: Ravens-Texans

Kevin Cowherd: Ravens 24, Texans 20: Ravens undergo mass hypnosis to forget bitter loss to the Steelers and drill reeling Texans, losers of 5 of their last 6.

Jamison Hensley: Ravens 38, Texans 20. Derrick Mason is right -- the Ravens don't have a good offense at times. But offenses are good all the time against the Texans, who are giving up 26.7 points per game.

Edward Lee: Ravens 34 Texans 17: The Texans' sliver of playoffs hope will fade after the Ravens' offense explodes. The Cam Cameron redemption tour begins.

Ken Murray: Ravens 35, Texans 17: Derrick Mason's rant could turn out to be a defining moment in the season.

Mike Preston: Ravens 30, Texans 21: Ravens offense looks for redemption, and they pile up points on Texans.

Peter Schmuck: Ravens 30, Texans 24: Ravens passing game will get on track against league's worst passing defense.

WJZ's Mark Viviano: Ravens 31, Texans 17: Flacco airs it out and Rice gets ground game going vs. weak Texans defense.

Yes we "can" beat the Ravens. Any team can beat any team in this league.

And we were mathematically in the playoff hunt until the LAST GAME of the SEASON last year, and we took care of our end throughout. Only because the Bengals laid down for the Jets did we miss out.

(and yes, before someone comes and says the obvious retort, I know that if we took care of business in other games before that it wouldn't have even come down to that and yadayadayadayadayadayadayada......fact is it did, and we held up our end of the bargain when the chips were down and we needed 4 straight wins)

Ya know what sux is that early this year even maybe 3 weeks ago or so I would have said we should beat em. We got the talent if everyone wants to show up. The problem is that they just don't every week we have at least one player "stepping down" where they should be stepping up.

I remember being at the 1994 NBA finals and watching night after night as one player after another stepped up to help Olajuwan win the championship. Be it the junkyard Dog, or sam cassell draining threes off the bench like he was born to it..... someone stepped up every night to help out the superstars.That is what champions do and it is something we just don't do.

Even though it doesn't seem like it our stars are preforming.... they pretty much are, Andre is #3 in receiving, we #1 in the run game, Say what u want about Mario but the man has 8.5 sacks # 4 for DE's, Cushing;s stats are short 4 games and so it is hard to judge there. Schaub like him or not is having a good season at 93.3 Qb rating 2 to 1 TD int ratio, he could have more TD's but we got the #1 run game too so that is gonna take away from his stats a little....

Anyway though you see my point as far as our receivers go AJ is the only one in the top 50 in the NFL, matter of fact our next highest ranked receiver is 72 in Kevin Walter. Dressen (TE) barely makes the top 32 at 28 and it goes on and on.

I know I am not the first person to say all this but I don't know if anyone has looked at statistically how bad it is...

On D diles barely registers as well at 32nd, Mario I mentioned before, but no other person on our front 7 registers in the top 100 in the NFL.... People ( including me) have been blaming either the secondary or the coaches, truth is though we just don't have anyone stepping up to help out our stars... Unfortunately that is why I think we loose...I hope I see a magic change on monday night but based on what I have seen from the last 2/4 of the season I doubt I will...

This is bad I am sick and tierd of this team having to depending on others.

Not really directed at you gary but this refrain is unrealistic. Every year wild card spots and even division winners are determined based on what happens not only with one team but other teams in the division or conference. Did you really go into this season thinking we would have the division locked up after 12 games?

Every team has to wait and see how the other does. No, I did not think that after 12 games but the four game losing streak the last few years have killed this team. To have a shot at the division or wildcard you have to do your part which is win as many games and then let the chips fall where they may. The Texans have yet to do that though.

I'd like to see us just once go out and take the Division and let the others worry about how the chips fall.
