This loss is on the... (fans?)

euro-Texan

Rookie
I hate to admit it, but the fans own some of this terrible loss. This game was embarasing. I'm a dislocated Texan living in Georgia. I have to go into a hostile stadium each year to root for my home team. Why the hell would so many Texans season ticket holders sell their tickets to cowgirl fans? I'm disgusted! Every camera angle shows nothing but cowgirl fans throughout the stadium. Looks like we are just the expansion franchise we are made out to be in the media. I'm ashamed! I guess I will just put on my Romo jersey (just lost a bet) and smile as we're are referred to as joke again. The limelight was nice for a week.

I'm also a dislocated Texans fan (from Massachusetts, going to school in Boston) and I absolutely do not think we're a joke. We lost a game that meant a ton more to the other team in terms of their season & their coaches job. This game will probably end up having 0 significance in our season. We're still 1st in the south, we still have a direct game on the Colts, and we can still be 3-1 without one of our defensive anchors. We've been unfortunate enough to have our defense exposed because we're playing three premere offenses to start the season.

If you say it enough, it might come true!

so the three offenses we've faced so far aren't good? really? so peyton, mcnabb, and romo aren't considered three upper tier quarterbacks? hmm. how could I be sooo stupid.

Agreed. If this defense gets shredded by Oakland next week, we'll KNOW that they really are pretty bad. Until then, I think the other teams' QBs deserve some credit.

Agreed, we are not a joke, but this one would have been huge and while it might have meant more to them, it doesnt appear that in meant much to our guys as a whole. I will still be wearing my Texans Jersey at whatever the Jags are calling their stadium now, but I really expected more on both sides of the ball. I expected MUCH more from the stands.

oh no i agree im disapointed in this effort overall. after last week I thought this was a no quit, gritty squad. They still very well might be, but they looked a little shell shocked after the long drive by the cowboys and hung their heads a little .. oh well, move on, win some more games, and throw away this effort.

That really is expansion talk. I understand your point, but are we still "just trying to hang around." I feel this team is ready to step up and If I were a player looking at the sea of Cowgirl fans in the audiance, I would have been dissappointed.

So now the Redskins and Cowboys are top tier elite offenses?

I thought Romo sucked and the Cowboys were overrated?

Guys... stick to an excuse... please.

The Texans defense isnt very good. Its just that simple.

The fans? Please....

Couldn't have said it better.

These are two completely separate issues.

I really don't think that is has been the QB play that has beat us. Those 3 are great QBs but our sub-standard coverage was the main reason we got lit up.

heres the thing about the fans .. there were WAY too many 'girls fans there. absolutely. and i know the south (especially texas) is much different than up here in boston. but the only anology i can say is that my father and i have celtics tickets, and when the celtics play the lakers especially, we sell those because people will pay a BOATLOAD to go to that game. the profit from that game alone can often pay for three or four other games from the season. we have no control who buys them after we post them. it sucks because laker and cowgirls fans are so numerous everywhere and so willing to pay their month's salary to go see them play those are often the market for such tickets. agree on your point overall, i just think people are overreacting right now.

I think more to the point, the Texans are a team that the best QBs in the league can torch, and the Texans have indeed seen three of the top-tier QBs in the NFL in their first three weeks.

Again, if they get shredded by Oakland next week, than they ARE that bad.

Romo hasn't looked like a top tier QB until today.

We have a damn good offense, but it got shut down today. It happens you know. That Any Given Sunday **** ain't ****, it's real.

The problem is our defensive secondary, which is beyond bad. I think it's worse than last year's secondary. But, I think it will improve as the season goes along. I predicted 10-6 and sneaking into the wild card playoffs this year, and I'll be damn happy with that and I still think it's doable.

I hate losing to the Cowpies, but it's done now. We got bigger fish to fry in our future anyway.

Seriously, never blame a loss on the crowd. On the heirarchy of lame excuses, that's even worse than blaming officials.

As a person who goes to Texans games on the road (only because I have to) I understand that oposing fans are part of the game, but the damn bullpen was full of cowgirl fans. Look, it didn't cost us the game, but it was just as humiliating as the loss.

I wasn't in the bull pen but I was suprised that my section (353) had far fewer Cowturd fans than were at the preseason game. And my section usually houses a lot of opponent's fans.

I will say, though, that most Cowboy fans were reasonable after the game. However, there were 2 or 3 fans that had no class. Every other team I've seen has been very respectful. One piece of sh*t started talking crap to a family of 4 with a 5 year old sitting behind me. It made me sick, and I probably should have punched him in the crotch.

You know what? My folks have tickets and take me a couple times a year...they asked me if I wanted to go or have 400 bucks for "my" ticket. I said I'm going to the game with no hesitation. Me and my dad had a blast, no matter what the score. Frankly, I'd rather sit next to the Cowboy fan than the Texan fan behind me. On the FIRST play of the game, a defensive start, he asked us to sit down.

Texan Fandom: It's Just Been REVOKED!!!

Oh and if you don't think I turned around and screamed at the top of my lungs HOW BOUT YOU STAND UP CUZ YOU GOT LEGS you don't know me at all.

The Cowboys are a popular team.

Just like when the Lakers come to town to play the Rockets. The Toyota Center is filled with Lakers jerseys.

It is what it is.

Being a fan from new jersey is quite difficult too, theres not fans worse than the jets fans, they are unbelievably ignorant and annoying!

The fans had and have nothing to do with the bad play today
They got beat by a team that is good, like it or not
Like kubes said, that team was two plays from being 2-0. He was right. They aren't going to SB but they still have talent

Texans, please do something about the secondary
Hopefully Brian can help us get to QBs on blitzes

The fans own some of this loss? Bullshit. The fans own a bunch of the stupid "We gonna be 6-0 and own the Cowboys" smack that is going to be coming back over our walls shortly but we didn't lose the game. The Texans lost the game, or rather the Cowboys won it. Good game Cowboys, Good luck the rest of the way out. Cowboy fan say your piece, you've got the right to do that and then it's time to get ready for Oakland. Hopefully next week we won't be seeing so much "THE TEXANS HAVE ARRIVED!" coverage. It does a young team very little good to hear that.

I don't blame the fans for the loss, but, I can assure you, a huge % of the Cowboy fans there today are Texan fans except when we play the boys. They simply have not converted, same as all the freaking Titan fans who show up when we play them. That's what bothers me the most, and why I think we have such a flakey fan base.. We have a few hundred hardcore fans and the rest are bandwagoners. JMO!!

The Bullpen was full of Cowboy fans today. The top 15 rows of section 116 was solid Cowboy blue!! THose are Texan fans who are PSL owners who pulled for the boys today. Personally, they make me sick, but, it's their right to pull for whoever they want. Just make up your freaking mind. If your a Cowboy fan, FINE, pull for them, but, give up those PSLs to a diehard TEXAN fan. Truthfully, I don't give a crap about your "fandom" to the Texans.

quadruple face value for tickets in a depressed economy = houston texans selling their tickets.. Can you really blame them?

Someone isn't a true fan if they sell their tickets to the Cowboys game. Either that or they're really cheap...

Yah cause it's all about the game and nothing else matters right, come on give it a break. People were paying upwards of $500 a ticket. Which pays for the entire season for some people, would not blame them at all.

I think you're hitting the nail on the head. Well, pretty damn close. I don't think the fans suck, I think HOuston sucks, as a sports city. There shouldn't have been that many Cowboy fans in the stadium period. Texans fans should have been buying those tickets & they never should have made their way to the Cowgirls.

It was pathetic how much noise was going on when our offense was on the field. NO Doubt, it was louder when our D was on, but with the roof closed, it was loud enough on offense... I think.

Next time the Jets play Giants, I'm going to look to see how many Giant fans are there. I highly doubt it will be as bad as what we had today.

Just some quick thoughts on the game from TBB.

Quick thoughts after the Texans are bullied by the Dallas Cowboys 27 – 13:

Eric Winston, Chris Meyers along with the rest of the O-line (except for a stellar Rashad Butler), joined an injured Okoye, a sick Antonio Smith, an Invisible Mario Williams and a tiny Brice McCain and the rest of the flat footed Houston Texans fell to the bigger, stronger and more desperate Dallas Cowboys.

We'll have in depth analysis throughout the week as always.

Be careful. Those kind of statements will get you labeled a troll around these parts.

I suggest we panic immediately. Season ticket holders should sell. Life as we know it has come to an end.

Given the history of the Texans, I’d probably panic too. It’s not like the Texans have a history of satisfying their fans.

After three games we are 2-1. I’ll take it for now. I might just ***** about it later.

Next.

It's all fan's fault for not running out on the field with a baseball bat and breaking as many legs as they could. We need that slight home-field advantage.

Yeah, I can't believe those fans that showed up at Reliant today and cheered on the team. Screw them. They failed.

:sarcasm:

You know what? This pisses me off. Kiss my ass! If you don't want opposing teams fans there, just buy up all the tickets yourself.

The Texans lost a game today. Not the fans, not the City, but the paid football players came out and played like ****. Don't dump on my city 'cause you are mad at the football team.

Okay. If the fans won't take part ownership of this loss then they shouldn't take any credit for the win over the Colts; which some have.

I'm usually a lurker, but I figured I'd reply. The players are the ones who win/lose games, but come on. You could of not asked for a better situation than today's game. Texans were finally getting tons of attention from across the nation and on a winning streak, our arch rivals from up north coming in for a game in which meant so much to both teams and to see that many Dallas fans was a shocker.

Being misplaced here in New Orleans and have been to few Saints games and I will tell you, 99.9% of fans at games are Saints fans. It doesnt happen here that the stadium is filled with the other teams fans. Not that people dont want to attend the games, it is just hard to get tickets. I guarentee there were not too many Falcon fans in the stadium today.

I'll admit it, I didnt really notice the difference until you live in a city where the fans are trully fanatical.

You all can lick my wet and lumpy bunghole for the Houston Texans loss that I caused today. See... we sold our tickets. Please remove all fandom privilages from NitroHonda. Apparently, I am not a true fan.

Dude, you are the best of fans! This thread sucks... not the fans!

That's bull. To many Cowboy fans... Houston won't support a team, until they are winning. That's bandwagon. If you're going to support your team, you should support your team. The fans who were at the game.. they are the best. Those guys that come out & tailgate & party, win or lose, those are the best. Those guys that travel from Austin every home game, those are the best.

The guy who is waiting for Houston to win a Super Bowl before they come to the game... c'mon... The season ticket holder who would rather sell his tickets on eBay, or to his Cowboy friend at work.... c'mon.

If this ain't you JB, butt out. I'm sure there are millions of people around Houston that have legit reasons for not making the games, & I don't have a problem with that.

But how much better are we, than the Jags if we have tens of thousands of Cowboy fans in PSL seats?

Repped

Look at the CheeseHeads. Try getting a Packer fan to sell his tickets to a Bears fan or Vikings fan. Good luck with that.

I guess maybe there are too many transplants in Houston - and the Texans are too young as a franchise - for them to have developed a true, diehard fanbase.

Dude, you are the best of fans! This thread sucks... not the fans!

No. You're definitely better than me! I mean... you bought you and your wife an extra set of tickets to the Colts game! That's what i call fandom right there!!

I think shetexan nailed it on the head about the bullpen.. lots of people are Texan fans and Cowboy fans until they play each other and in this case a lot like the cowboys over the Texans.

I have a favorite AFC team (obviously) and a favorite NFC team (Dallas). I like the teams from the state until Dallas plays the Texans then screw Dallas

but to say the fans are to blame on the loss, No.. cowboys completed their 3rd down opportunities when it seemed the crowd was loud and Houston, well 3 of the Cowboys sacks was on 3rd down when the crowd was quiet.

if anything calmed the crowd down, it was the ho-hum way the Texans played and gradually it filtered from the players and the more and more the score got out of reach, it filtered to the Texan fans until all you could hear was the Cowboy fans that were enjoying it

FYI, Pflugerville is in the Austin area.

I am fan. Hear me roar.

If that is the case, it's a little different. They bought their tickets to support the Texans... so there is something to be said about that.
