2010 Texans Schedule

Bring 'em on!

Not to veer off topic but Cushing is supposed to be a guest on the Dan Patrick show tomorrow. I imagine they'll be talking about the draft, but I'm sure some questions about the Texans schedule might come up as well.

Howard Dean's reaction to the Texans schedule:

I'm sure there are some disappointed people here. You know what? You know something? You know something? If you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in second in the South, we would have given anything for that.

And you know something? You know something?

Not only are we going to Arizona ... we're going to New Orleans and Washington and Oakland and Texas and Indianapolis, and we're going to Jacksonville and New York and Philadelphia. And we're going back to Texas and Tennessee and Denver and Michigan and Houston. And then we're going to Springfield, Illinois to take back Santa Anna's prosthetic leg. Yeah!

For all you haters that think we will not win at least 3 of our first five come see me after the fifth game. We are looking at a 11 and 5 season division winners with home feild through the playoffs. All who disagree get behind me and stay out of my way.

We're not getting HFA with 11 wins. And if we do I'll make SWT eat his hat. :uchicken:

Well, I believe. I believe this is exactly what our team needs to start the season - the same kind of challenge it was to finish our last 3 seasons, backs to the wall already.

Exactly. Playoffs start from game one this year and the team knows it.

Looks like we're in for a tough season:

Home: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Dallas, NY Giants, San Diego, Oakland, Baltimore.

Away: Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, Denver, Kansas City, NY Jets.

Yikes, 7 of our 16 games are against 2009 playoff teams.

No gimmes on this schedule...

Can the mods edit the first post?

Let's coordinate the games this year.. That said, I can't do a Saturday night game with a Texans Sunday game. I'm too freakin' old. :)

You have got to be kidding me!

There are many times, I go to a UH game on Saturday night, drive back home to Beaumont and then get up Sunday morning to go the Texans game.

When my nephew was going to UH, I would just crash at his place and then go to the Texan game.

With that said, what UH games do you want to go to?

I won't hold my breath on that being the real schedule. Why Baltimore would be a MNF game over one of our division rivals doesn't seem right to me.

This should be a win for the Texans. The Texans are 2-0 on my birthday and this game is played on my Birthday. Dec 13th

brutal brutal schedule

i think its all going to boil down to Week 1. if we can win that game, we have a chance to have a good season but if we start off with a loss, the schedule isn't as forgiving as last year and its gonna be a tough road to ho.

lots of good coaches on that schedule, too. i hope we don't get consistently outcoached like last year. kubiak has to take the next step and prove that he won't get outcoached by rookie head coaches like last year (caldwell, ryan, etc.)

Toughest schedule in the NFL.....doh three primetime games sweet.

10-6 until proven otherwise. ( Can we actually do it cause I am tired of saying it)

I kinda think Jim Caldwell has a latchkey player on his team. He didn't really outcoach us but your point is taken. I predicted a 1-15 season myself. This isn't going to be a fun year for us.

Eff it. Go Texans.

I hope that Kubiak has learned from last years mistakes when he tried to out-couch the other sideline. He doesn't need to be better than the other coach, he just needs to not be worse by making dumb mistakes.

He has constistently been outcoached ever since he arrived here back in 2006. I expect more of the same in 2010. At least his guys play for him so he's got that going for him. I kinda think he acts like a coordinator. He lacks the killer instinct necessary to take your team to the next level.

I'm not really a Kubiak basher. I'm actually ok with him as our coach. Not like I have much choice in the matter anyway.

I think he will be fine if he just cuts out a couple of stupid mistakes like the HB pass and such. Like you said, he gets his players to play for him, so if he can just get his best players on the field (which is another problem he had at times) and put the ball in their hands then I think he will do ok. He just needs to realize that he has a lot of talent to work with and he doesn't need to out-smart people to win.

In previous years it probably has been necessary for us to try to gain the upper hand by taking some of these risks, but these last wo years are probably the first time that we could win by simply having the better players, its a strange feeling.

7-9.
I just can't see us improving with that schedule. The NFC west was a gift to us last year, along with the AFC east. We went 6-2 in those divisional games.

If the halfback pass was successful, many would be lauding him as a great ballsy coach. Like New Orleans' got Sean Payton up on a grand pedestal for his SB onside kick.

Kubiak has done far more boneheaded thing than that failed halfback pass. An odd play does not define a coach. He consistently mishandles the red flag in his back pocket. His clock management is poor. His gametime "alertness" is atrocious. Year in year out.

You know, we actually have a good possibility of starting off very strong this year. The Texans MO has always been getting out the gate too slow, and cant win in our division.

We have consisitently done well outside of our division, thats why i am happy that we only play one division game until muuuuch later in the season.

him not having Schaub spike the ball on the Moats fumble against the Colts was a horrible and unforgiveable mistake.

basically he felt taking away about 12 seconds from Manning was more important than assuring a 1st and Goal from the one. Does he really need to coach that scared? I know I may be in the minority, but he lost me on that play. I was at a bar and even the most noob of fans were yelling for Schaub to spike it. He had a chance to outcoach Caldwell who had his thumb up his rear, but once he gave them the 2 minute warning, Caldwell pulled it out and threw the flag.

The halfback pass and the flat and inconsistent performances were just the icing on the cake. Just an unforgiveable mistake and I blame Schaub as well and I am a huge Matt guy. That was just stupid and inexcusable at the NFL level.

Hopefully Gary can finally shed the 'im a n00b coach' tag and actually get the team prepared to come out and play 4 quarters and stop making stupid and ignorant play calls and decisions. Gary leaves a lot to be desired as head coach...just my opinion.

I am going to go with 7-9 or worse as my prediction. It may change a bit if we have a good draft but something tells me we are going to draft another Fresno State hero and neglect extreme positions of need (Center, DT, CB) We didn't have any problems putting points on the board last year, we just made too many mistakes and missed too many opportunities (dumb moves and bad kicks)

hopefully Kris Brown gets run out of town and Rackers delivers for us. Kris lost me too. Horrible and pathetic year for KB last year and inexcusable.

yup and 1-5 in our own division with our only win being giftwrapped by Kerry Collins.

more of the same from the Kubiak. never met a big game he couldnt lose.

We'll be last year's Broncos! Going 6-0 then having that demoralizing end to their season.

That'll be fun.

He made the same mistake that Caldwell did. Neither of them had any idea that that play could've been overturned. That's why Caldwell did not even consider throwing his red flag until well into the 2 minute warning. He simply didn't have the information at hand that the ball may have been live.

Milking the clock a little bit isn't coaching scared, by the way. It is the smart thing to do. It was a coaching error. There's no doubt about it. But, it had nothing to do with being scared, it was the result of poor communication from the coaching booth to Kubiak.

Schaub knew it was a fumble. He was in hurry up/spike the ball mode trying to set up his team. I've never seen Schaub walking off the field more agitated when the clock was stopped like that. He knew it was a fumble.

Kubiak needs to trust in his QB a little more. Team's in good hands with Schaub out there. If you see him panicking amd trying to set up for the spike, you question him later. Get it done first. If Schaub wants a timeout, he'll call one.

A deplorable move that's 100% on Kubiak.

Correct, from what I remember.... it is my understanding that the booth did not give any inclination to Kubiak that he should even begin to think about challenging the play.

then get some people around you that are worth a damn. even a retarded monkey knew that was a fumble.

oh and schaub knew it was too.....but it was more important to take 10 seconds off the clock

even having the chance of a 1st and goal is more important than 10 seconds off the clock..
deplorable move and there is no way you can spin it
kubiak lost me with that play...and we lost the game

Well fans, look at it this way. This year we are going to settle a lot of arguments around here. If the Texans can't muster up 10 wins or more, then we will all know they ain't up to snuff yet. Which means that Kubiac has had five years and hasn't done the job.

On the other hand, if the Texans manage 10 or more wins out of this schedule, then all the Kubiac haters will just have to take a back seat.

So in all reality, this tough ass schedule is a very good thing. Now we shall see who our Texans really are.

Very true, but it is still fun to argue about it during the off-season
