Cowboys under pressure for quality win

CloakNNNdagger

Association of "quality" with "the Cowboys?"..........only by the blind (no offense to the blind).

The Cowboys are 3-2 this season, but the team is still looking for an impressive win.

The Panthers are the best team Jerry's boys have beaten, while Dallas has come up just short in two games against likely playoff teams: the Giants and Broncos.

That's why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has built up this week's game against the Falcons as one needed to show Dallas is a contender.

"Coming off this bye, I think we'll be fresh and certainly we all recognize we've got an opportunity here to really create some perceived -0 by our fans and by other people -- some real credibility if we could come in here and beat the Falcons," Jones said. "We we should be prepared and we need to win it."

Tony Romo has taken a lot of the criticism, but Dallas' defense has been just as inconsistent as the offense. Sunday will be a great test for its secondary against Matt Ryan.

With a win, the 2009 Cowboys would basically be "on schedule" and ready to take on the meat of its schedule.

With a loss, the Cowboys would be 1-2 at home, 3-3 after a 9-7 season -- a good-not-great squad that can't seem to live up to its own hype.

I'd say yesterday was quality win with a highlight reel play by Romo. With TCU winning and this I had a good weekend.

Definitely a quality win! With a quality performance from Romo...

Miles Austin has as much yards in the last two games as Roy Williams has had in his amazing Cowboys career.

Roy is a prima donna in my book. So I'm glad Miles has busted out. Every week I read how he and Romo aren't on the same page or his time in Dallas hasn't been great because he feels he isn't contributing. There is a "whine" to it that I don't like.

Roy Williams has been overrated since his college days. The fact that the Cowboys gave the Lions a first round pick shows why Jerry Jones needs to hire a real gm and stop playing like he knows what he is doing when it comes to player transactions.

Austin is just making plays right now..and the Cowboys were desperate for a playmaking WR.

And Roy needs to start catching balls thrown right to him. Although he did have a nice catch yest.

Agree. I think they gave up too much and I'd rather have gone after Boldin but at the time they needed more. But Roy's attitude seems horrible. Just his weekly quotes are nothing but veiled little jabs aboput getting the ball, etc. It's strange. Hopefully he will start to pick it up with Austin spreading the field.

I really haven't heard Roy say much but yea he needs to just play...I've heard Crayton speak out but he speaks out about everything it seems.

Roy is a Jerry pet project. I heard him talking about Roy at least 2 years ago..he's always wanted him and he was silly to go for that deal. But that's Jerry.

If I was Tony I'd just keep throwing to Austin. The guy is a touchdown machine right now.

And to be honest it was Tony's errant throw to Roy that busted up his ribs in the Broncos game.

True!

Here is the type quote I was talking about...there just seems to be a negative tinge to it

He was then asked about his one-year anniversary with the Cowboys and how he assessed his time with Dallas since being traded from Detroit at the trade deadline a year ago this week.

"It's OK. Very average, if not below average in my opinion. My thing is I do what I'm supposed to do, and I've been patient this year. It's one of those things," Williams said.

"You hope that you don't have to do it, but sometimes you have to dial 9-11 and I'm waiting on 911 to be dialed up. 9-11 refers to Romo and myself and not the emergency situation," Williams added, smiling. "I've been waiting ... I'm just throwing it out today so that some day it will be used again."

Williams said it's taken some time for Tony Romo to get used to him and for him to get used to Romo.

"When I first got here, Tony was used to TO and Witten, and I come in with a different speed, a different body language and he has no clue how I am, so he had to learn that and it was hard for him and it was hard for me," Williams said. "It was hard for me to get 19 balls in a year. It's hard for me right now to have 11 balls in a year. That's why it's just OK.
