Directv NFL Sunday Ticket

I don't how many noticed that the price went up, and it has been going up every year. So I called to cancel this seasons subscription with the reason that I am not going to pay $45 for six months for a total of $270. Well they offered me a deal for $25 a month for six months which will total $150. And they threw in the Superfan in for free!!! They told me that they were offering me this deal "since I was a loyal customer". It's probably because many people are saying, "thanks but no thanks." I don't what is required to be a loyal customer, but you guys might want to give a shot. I wish the Texans would give discounts on tickets to "loyal fans".

Just got off the phone with directv and it took a little haggling but I got the same deal, sweet. You da man!

*writes note to make a phone call*

There are going to be a lot of phone calls on this one.

Let's see if it was just a renegade service rep, who threw someone a bone and wasn't authorized to do so, or if it's a recent company policy to reduce the Sunday Ticket rate when someone threatens to bail.

I'll be calling this afternoon, and will report back to this thread.

I'll do the same.

My buddy told me about it about two weeks ago. And Im pretty sure he wasn't the first. And Directv does make alot of money off me. My bill is usually around $80 a month and I always get the NFL and NBA packages also. So Directv gets close to $1400 of my hard earned money in a year.

Way to go, 'Valley'! Orale!
Put me on the list of guys who just got off the phone and got the same deal. No cool (tacky?) call wait music or other usual sprinkles...but I didn't hang up when she left me on 'hold' for a bit.
Owe you a beer, Stinger

Got the same deal after some harsh negotiation. Took it down in $5 increments. Had to tell the lady to cancel it 4 times before she actually gave me the $20 and the NFL Super Fan package.

Thanks! :thisbig:

Hey, this was only for Texans Fans!!!:foottap:.....J/K Glad I could help.

I've done the same thing too Stringray the last couple of years. Once I told them I was going to cancel the Sunday Ticket, they sent me to an "Account Specialist" where I was able to negotiate a better deal. Works like a charm!

Yeah, I did the same with Sprint a couple of times. They would rather make something off of you rather than nothing. And they know that you can easily change service also.

Reporting in:

It worked. Not only the $150.00 and Superfan but also 3 months of Showtime for free. Woooooooohooooooooo!!

Stingray rocks. Already repped.

I'm surprised you didn't get Skinamax.... that seems down your alley !!

Good for all of you getting the new rates...just goes to show how many people will get f'ked over if you don't take action. For the handful of people the give the deal to, there are others who don't have aclue and will get screwed..so much for being a "loyal" customer...

Showtime must be showing Brokeback Mountain, that is why Bill chose it.

I'm letting people know after Stingray put this up yesterday. Thank God he had the wherewithal to call and *****.

Yeah.. This coming from Thomas "My Own Private Idaho" Specnutz.

I'm trying it now. I told the lady I was "thinking about cancelling because of finances..." and that "a friend who has Sunday Ticket said for me to call and see what they (DirecTV) could do for me."

So she has now transferred me to the "PSP" department, whatever that is...

My original payment plan, with Superfan, was 369.99.

He took the grand total down to 149.44.

That's a $220 savings, just for calling and sticking to the script.

Me: "Yeah, I am thinking about cancelling. I have been a customer for almost 10 years, I have two HD DVRs, I order UFC PPVs all the time, PPV movies every now and then, and I just wondered if you guys could help out on Sunday Ticket."

His answer: "Sure, no problem. Just give me a second to look at your account history." ....pause while I stay on the line... "OK, I adjusted that for you. We went from $369.99 to $149.44 and kept the Superfan on there for you."

Cha-ching.

Rep to Stingray, and an imaginary mug of frosty cold beer.

Ya.. Welcome.

I feel kinda silly for ordering sunday ticket now when they have played the Texans on TV each week here in San Antonio...

At least I get to watch the red zone channel each sunday.

I can't get Sunday ticket because I can't get sattelite (there are too many trees around my house) :(

Man, for $150 that would be a-w-e-s-o-m-e

As soon as they invent a silent chainsaw, you're in business.

LOL its actually my neighbors pine trees that are blocking my signal. The DTV guy was like "you just need to cut the top 3rd of those trees over off and you're good to go"

I imagine that would be an awkward conversation with my neighbor

It's worth the price of admission just for the Shortcut rebroadcast of the game each week.

Called up DTV to inquire about NFLST this season. For those that are not familiar, DTV has split Sunday Ticket into 2 tiers. Regular Sunday Ticket, and MAX.

Advertised at $225 for ST and $300 for STM.

From Website:
NFL SUNDAY TICKET
Get every out-of-market game of the 2013 season, every Sunday, on your TV. And experience it all in breathtaking High Definition. Plus see up to eight games LIVE at the same on the Game Mix Channel and track up to 18 players in real time with Player Tracker.

NFL Sunday Ticket MAX NFL ST MAX UPGRADE
Upgrade to NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX and get every NFL SUNDAY TICKET game on your computer, tablet, and phone—in addition to every game every Sunday on your TV. Plus, you also get The RED ZONE CHANNEL®, Player Tracker, Short Cuts, real-time stats, and more.

I am currently in a contract with DTV and ended up agreeing to $22 for first month and $29 for 5 months or $172 over the season for STM. I love the Redzone channel (main reason I signed up), and am intrigued by Short Cuts (Game replay in less than 30 minutes). Also having the ability to watch on computer tablet or phone will be a nice addition.

Anyone else order it? Anyone else get any good deals?

Redzone is nice for when the Texans aren't on. I love that channel. My wife hates it. She wants to pick a game and just watch it.

And Short Cuts? Short Cuts is CRACK. That is absolutely the most awesome thing EVAR. I record every game but I also record every Sunday day game on Short Cuts. I never thought to look if they come back and do the short cut treatment to prime-time games. I never saw them.

I love watching the Short Cuts versions of the games.

I also record Short Cuts games of our upcoming opponents so I can see what they're doing prior to us playing them.

I thought they dropped the price to $199?

I am going to pass on it this season. My bro in law has it and I am normally over there watching the games or I am actually at a game.

I just switched over to Direct from UVerse last month, so this will be my first go-around with Sunday Ticket? How do you guys like the service?

The last few years, they gave it for free to the new customers, so hopefully that promo is still on and you got it for free, too.

I love it. Mainly, because it gives me the opportunity to watch all the Texans games. I usually have one game on my big TV and another or the RZC on my iPad.

Someone mentioned short cuts. I watch all of those later in the week, and that's how I'm able to see every game. Shortcuts are awesome.

I am a huge DTV fan. And ST is icing on the cake. There are alot of weeks that I dont want to watch the 1-2 games they have on regular TV when a better matchup is going on elsewhere. Or when commercials are outta control you can watch gamecast which has 6 or so on one screen.

Make sure your dish is somewhere protected so that the elements won't mess up your signal and you'll be good. Really comes into play for me in the winter months.

I'm still under contract but called to threaten to say I was thinking about cancelling due to not having Comcast Sports Net. They took $60 off my bill every month for the next year and offered to give me NFL Sunday Ticket Max for free if I'd extend my contract for a year. I said no thanks on the second offer, but just a heads up if anyone wants to try the same thing.

I do this sort of thing every 6 months. Just say I want to cancel my movie channels or some other package, and they give me $50-$60 in credits/month for the next 6 months.

I called snd said I was thinking about leaving and they 'well then get the eff outta here'. Good thing I didn't call a suicide hotline. No not really. As long as I can watch the texans I am content.

Red Zone vs. Sunday Ticket

Do you find yourself going to Redzone or watching multiple screens on the ST? Just curious-

If there are multiple games I want to be following, Red Zone. If really only one of them moves the needle for me, I'll watch that and got to the RZC during the commercials.

Like Paycheck said, it depends.

If I'm not particularly interested in a given game, then I'll put on Red Zone. It's awesome.

But if there's something I'm interested in, then I'll go to that game and watch it. If a game looks really exciting or has some extra drama, I'll go watch that.

OR. I'll watch whatever game my wife wants to watch. Which is actually the most common occurrence.

Normally I have Texans/game of interest on one tuner and RZ on the other. Swapping back/forth during commercials.

Just called Directtv and got nfl ticket for free. They also cancelled my hd charge for a year. You guys need to call if you have not already.

I called as well. Didn't get it for free, but they did knock the price down 50%. The key to all the discounts is to get past the first line of DirecTV customer service. For Sunday Ticket, they have their own department that can give you discounts. If you threaten to cancel your service altogether, they might transfer you to the retention department, and I think they have the most authority to give you a good deal to stay on. They can of course also call your bluff, or you might not have any leverage, like me, if you've recently upgraded your equipment and had to extend your contract.
