Is the season over?

If the purpose of an NFL team is to make the playoffs and attempt to win championships, we are done after one-fourth of the season. No way is this team going to come back from that. It would take too much heart (and talent).

This post will probably get erased. I'm sure the Texans don't want people thinking about the total price of their season tickets. We did pretty good in preseason though.

The short answer is yes.

We can't make the playoffs from here.

In this "World Tuned Upside Down" NFL year, I really thought we had a chance to win the division. Peyton hurt, traditionally give the Jags fits, & Ten lacking offense. Perfect situation for us.

Well, we've taken that and found new ways to step on our schlongs. Sing it with me....."It's draft prep time in Texas" to the tune of "It's football time in Texas".

The short answer: yes.

I can't help but think that we're bearing witness to "2-14 Strikes Back" this season.

Yes, most probably.

The season will now go as such:

Winning an amount of games that rule us out of a really good 1st round pick next year, yet not getting near a wild-card place.

The thing that really sucks, is that talent wise, we're not that bad.

For me and alot of other Texan fan, yes. So much for that playoff run. Back to the drawing board, we'll have to endure the rest of the season before the real excitment comes, the draft. yippie.

So much for all those "the answer is now" commercials they play at the end of all texans videos. Pretty ironic if you ask me.

Yeah it's done.

With how we played as a team today...we could win a lot of games...at the same time we get in positions where we can win the game and just don't win it because someone didn't call a timeout, someone missed a tackle or two, someone didn't challenge a play or some other thing.

I still have faith that we could go over .500 with how we've played the last two weeks. Even still we are just in such a deep hole now it doesn't matter unless other teams start choking.

Yep it over .........

NOw we play just to PLay

but has of now getting the first pick PLZZZZ i think we will be somewhere in the 11-19 Pick

Yes.........didn't you get the memo?.....it was hand delivered by Sage Rosenfelds today.

Texans will be very lucky to win 2 games this season.

Bring on the Rockets!:headhurts:

A tiny part of me is hoping we suck the rest of way, finish 4-12 or 3-13, fire Kubiak and bring in Bill Cowher.

If we win half our remaining games, our record will be 4-12. That would probably be proclaimed a success. I like the Texans but I am just sick of the losing. It's like that movie "Groundhog Day".

actually our record would be 6-10 if we win half, but I will second the idea of bringing in Cowher.

This is has been the worst season so far. I'm serious. Not a Knee-Jerk reaction.

Because when we were bad...you could watch the game expect to lose...and when you lost it didn't affect you...

Last season we were a mediocre team, and we knew that's what we were going to be coming in.

This season just sucks though. First we get blown out and embarrassed at Pitt. Then we were out coached in Tenn...then we lose a heart-breaking game in OT...then this just describes itself.

On top of being 0-4...you have teams like the Dolphins and Atlanta...and they both look better than your team despite completely sucking a year ago. The only way for ME (keyword ME) to be happy about this season is if they win at least 9 of the remaining games.

Yeah we had a tough schedule...IMO though our guys should have stepped up to the schedule and at the least be 1-3. I expected us to be 2-2 right now so I guess that is why i'm disappointed.

You'll need a minimum of what, 10 - maybe 11 wins to get into the playoffs and own some tiebreakers to do so? So we'd have to win 10 of our next 12 to even sniff the playoffs and we'll not own any tiebreakers with three potential playoff teams.

So, yeah, this one is pretty much over with regards to the playoffs. I'm tired of watching us play for dignity and I am tired of wondering about draft position after the first quarter of the season. I'm not going anywhere, but I am tired.

Cowher? I don't know why he'd come here. You might be able to get a Marty Schottenhemier, though.

Honestly, I'd be happy with a better defensive coordinator and bringing Culpepper out of retirement to come off the bench for Schaub. Knee jerk, I know, but it made me feel better to say it.

Hahaha, yeah if the the Rockets doesn't have another injury plague year ...AGAIN, we all will be saying, bring on the Texans....again! Sigh, a vicious circle that hopes to be broken soon, for our sanity's sake!:gun:

Well, as a long time Oiler fan, I've been here before, and it's just as painful now and it was at times then. After a while you lose your sense of emotionalism and just start laughing at them. The problem is, this team has enough talent to be in the middle of the pack in the NFL, not the bottom. We don't belong on the bottom.

I think with Ike , the stock market , the freakin political crap , this has left me with the I don't cares . I try to joke when I'm down to raise everyone else up but this is least I've cared about the next weeks game ... ever .

Ok it has to be done!

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

The Oilers had some winning seasons and made it to the conference championship. There was still some hope after 4 games most of the time.

That's pretty much how I'm feeling.

I am with you but I also think the manner in which we lost this week has alot to do with it.

Its one thing to not show up, its another to just get beat by a better team, but this team showed up and whupped ass for three and a half quarters and then two major mistakes killed them. I think if we were not 0-4 we would be looking at this game saying what a great game we played against a team that has owned us in the past and in the end we got a prostate exam from the Fickle Finger of Fate! It would give us hope if it were not for the fact we are 0-4 but alas we are in fact 0-4!

It was going to be hard to make the playoffs anyway...I never expected the Titans to be undefeated or be as good as they seem to be.

The Texans CAN do it but it'll be a really really tough task.

And yet the Titans were a 4-win team very recently. Somehow they fixed things, yet the Texans just continue to suck. They suck at football, they suck fans' money away, and they suck the life from their fans.

No. This season is not over. Next week we host Miami, a team that has never beaten the Texans. We also host Detroit and Cinn before moving on to Minn and then coming back home to play Baltimore.

If the Texans can play each of those teams the same way they played the Colts, we win those 5 games before going to Indy.

If Kubiak can keep his troops together for next weeks game and go on and take care of business we will be 5-4 going into week 10.

I am not happy with the Texans reccord at all, nor the play in Pittsburgh ot Tn. However int he interest of full disclosure I did not think we would win more than two games in the first 5 due to the schedule, 4 playoff teams that have continued to impress this year. I did not expect to get dismantled in Pitt. and they have not looked as good since Parker went down but they are a hell of a team at home.

The last two weeks the Texans have looked good, we should have won the Jags game we lead three times and we damn sure should have won today. This team has continued to improve week to week and the fact is had Sage not screwed the pooch we beat the Colts and feel good about ourselves. Well we kicked their asses for 55 minutes and I was damn happy with our performance. Who in the hell thought Sage would go super fly snooka and give up 6!

I think Kubiak can get the job done but for me the Miami game will let me know, the Texans team thats played the last two weeks should handle the Dolphins, but its up to Kubiak to get them past this loss in order to do so. If they lose its because they cant put this loss behind them.

Well the Miami game suddenly becomes very HUGE....Miami is improving with some very strong victories over good teams and the Texans just suffered a "kick in the gut" loss.

Should be interesting to see how the troops respond. They played very well today against a team that wasn't so very long ago world champs and they still lost.

This next game will be a really big test for the Texans.

I don't know that the Miami game means anything other than a barometer for how low this team will go this year. Win it and we can salvage a mediocre (possibly even .500) year. Lose and we're looking at a top ten pick in the draft.

So in that sense, it has some bearing on how the rest of our year will play out, but it will have no real meaning the grand scheme of legitimate contention for playoffs.

actually our record would be 6-10 if we win half, but I will second the idea of bringing in Cowher.

I will third that idea. If McNair did that, he would prove to me that he's done with the coaching experiment of finding the next big thing and going after proven talent. Cowher could make this team nasty.

To answer the original question, yes, the season is over as far as the playoffs are concerned. Theoretically, the Texans could go on a tear and win 10 straight, but I don't see how today's loss just doesn't kill them mentally and emotionally for the rest of the season. They're not a tough team to begin with. If the team does the impossible, well slap my ass and call me Sally, I'll be the first to nominate Kubes as coach of the year. Stranger things have happened, but the odds are not in our favor by any stretch.

No Tebow he is another Alex Smith I would go for Stafford but we are talking about high draft picks now

Agreed up there KT. What you're talking about is not losing the rest of the way another division game. Two of which will be on the road. On top of that getting on some sort of a 4 and oh, five an oh run....could happen....

Miami is on a roll and have played well the last few weeks. If Beerlover has any money left....might want to put some down how many times we'll see that wild cat formation featuring Ronnie Brown at QB.

They say anything adverse that doesn't kill ya only makes you stronger. What we have here is a young team trying to learn how to win. Once they get started they will get on a roll. Miami has confidence right now. That's the white elephant in the room. We don't. Kubiak will earn his money for sure if he can get them turned around. At this point I'm kinda lowering the bar at one in a row. I bet they never take another lead for granted ever again. In football the ball is oblong for a reason. Anything can and will happen.

Tebow's tuff I like how he plays. I wonder if Harrell will get drafted or if teams will consider him just an ok qb who benefited from Texas Tech's system?
