Zone Blocking

I don't think zone blocking is right for the Texans. They haven't done anything this year. Under the old bocking scheme, the first two years the running game looked a whole lot better!

Not claiming to be all knowledgeable on this, but won't it take about a year to really figure out this new style, as well as, have the correct players for it?

Sorry, but you don't go to something if your players don't fit. Another example of why you have to look at the coaching staff as the problem rather than the players. You take your players and look at what they do best and mold your ball club around their abilities, rather than what you think the way things should be.

I don't think the Texans should switch blocking schemes in mid season, but maybe the Texans should reconsider before next season.

We only have two players playing in the position they played last year. McKinney and Weigert. Things take time. People want to point fingers but the bottom line is we are a 3rd year expansion team with little quality depth, playing with a back up tackle, and a first year player at LT, with Pitts learning how to play Guard on the fly.

We really can't blame lack of depth, however, since we're probably about the healthiest team in the NFL right now. Other than Wade and Jason Simmons, we aren't missing anyone who was expected to contribute this season- well, I guess Hollings was injured today. The point is, depth aint the problem... I'm starting concerned with the coaching staff. It seems that smart teams tend to pick us apart. Also, I was alarmed by many coaching decisions today.

Lack of 'quality' depth is what I meant. We have bodies. We just don't have first rate reserves. We have a bunch of scrubs, unproven players and journeymen behind our starters. Its probably not too wildly different than most teams but I'd bet we are the thinnest team in the league when you throw out each teams starters across all 22 starting positions.

I noticed you left out our lack of 'quality' depth in coaching and we have a bunch of scrubs, unproven coaches and journeymen coaches. I say that a little tongue in cheek, but I feel the coaching staff is on a par with the players.

Vinny, I will agree with you in part though, because when Wade was declared out we simply have nobody to replace him. I have often commented we can not afford to loose Wiegert, and when he has been out, it has been a disaster. Is it, however, that we don't have players or the coaches are not developing people as they go to fill in when necessary. Why is it that other teams have injuries and someone steps up. We don't have that capability. Why?

Vinny good evening. We will spar at a later time, but I respect what you say its just I have a different perspective. I think I will go and play some Texas Holdem at the casino. I need a break. To all, good night and god bless and that goes for the Texans too.

Our coaching staff is made up of high caliber NFL coaches. That assertion may be toungue in cheek but it is 'wide right' by a mile.

Because we are an expansion team. We have not been drafting and grooming this team for the last half decade. It takes a few years to accumulate enough talent to win on a consistant basis in the NFL. Have you ever noticed that most people who folllow the NFL expect us to win around 5-6 games this year? I wonder why?

Good night Ibar. I may disagree with you but I find you to be very decent. Good luck, I hope you win.
