Z report:I had an NFL scout call me who was ranting and raving about...

Wolf

100% Texan
other area is locked so hope this is ok to post here
* I had a scout call me last weekend and he was VERY excited. What made an NFL scout this excited in May? Texas LBSergio Kindle. This scout had a soft 3rd round grade on Kindle during last season, but he didn't watch Kindle as closely as other prospects who he knew would be in this year's draft. After watching the Longhorns defense closely on ten game films from last year, he boldly predicted that Sergio Kindle would be a top 10 pick next year and he feels like, upon further review, that Kindle would have been a first round pick. He thinks Kindle will be tougher against the run and a better blitzing LB than Wake Forest's Aaron Curry.

Keep in mind this is the same scout who told me before the year and even during the year that Stephen McGee would be drafted when nobody else in America believed that to be true. What this scout loves about Kindle on film is that he NEVER takes plays off, is a very strong pass rusher who can be a great blitzing SAM linebacker or even DE on 3rd downs and the speed and aggressiveness that Kindle plays with. The one area of concern for this scout is that you keep it simple for Kindle and not make him think too much. "See ball, get ball" is what you do with Kindle. This guy gave me Aaron Maybin as a hot prospect back in mid January and told me after he was drafted thatJerome Mathishad character issues and would be trouble for the Texans. Let's see if he's right on Kindle.

You must be sitting right next to me then.

I remember watching film on him when we first got him at Texas. He was the #1 recruited LB in the country. It pissed me off though how Mack Brown kept him off the field for as long as he did and had Derry and Killebrew playing more than him and Muckleroy. Last season was the first real season where he got to start which was ridiculous. He had a great season, but not the eye popping one where the media got a hold of it. I've told people since last season that were on the Orakpo bandwagon to peep out Kindle because he was more talented. With another full off season with Muschamp, I agree that he'll be a top ten pick for sure. Top 20 easily.

Over the summer prior to the 2007 Longhorn football season, Kindle and his teammate Henry Melton were arrested in separate incidents on charges of driving while intoxicated. Both players were suspended from the first three games of the season. They were also required to perform community service and missed the first two days of practice in order to visit with a woman whose son was crippled by a drunk driver

Mack has always had a soft spot for seniors who have put in their four years for the program. One of the knocks against him is that he will play those guys over more talented youngsters. It's one of the few faults that he has IMO.

Well I'd change that to one of his BIG faults and that season it hurt us pretty badly. I've never liked Mack as a coach, only as a recruiter.

Kindle came on last season but seemed to do it pretty quietly. He just didn't make a lot of noise around the country to your average fan. I've been telling people about Kindle for years and hardly anyone seems to know about him.

If we draft another linebacker and refuse to address the FS position i'm going to start punching babies.
I hear you! Did you notice in one of the threads that Barber is not the starting strong safety? I would not be disappointed if Glover Quinn is switched to FS rather than nickle CB. His speed (4.5) would serve him better and maybe Brice McCain at 4.33 could be nickle where his 5'9" may be less of a factor.
