Trade down or jalen carter for me
Not very good use of 3 1st round picks imoI’d trade down and hopefully wind up with (3) RD1 picks.
LT- Paris Johnson, Jr (Ohio State)
DE- Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech)
Depending on who’s available:
OT- Peter Skoronski (Northwestern) or WR- Quentin Johnston (TCU)
Move Green to RG and play the best of Johnson or Skoronski at LG with the other backing up? Gives you strong Oline with a center in round 2.I’d trade down and hopefully wind up with (3) RD1 picks.

Draft Stroud or Young @1 and draft Tyree Wilson with Browns pick
You think Nick rotating picks again? Or do you like Wilson as i do? I think if QB at 1.1 a WR may be our second pick barring trade down. Thoughts?Draft Stroud or Young @1 and draft Tyree Wilson with Browns pick
For discussion, can't same be said about pass rushers? Tuipulotu has lead in sacks. Anudike-uzomah and Foskey are 2nd rounders.Trading back has it's merits, but who is available with the first pick worth trading up for?
Texans need a stud pass rusher so you gotta take Anderson. They need two to be effective so perhaps a second one can be found in FA or later in the draft.
Decent DL can be found later in the draft so I hold off on Carter. We found DJ Reader in the 5th iirc.
Our 2nd pick - if Levis is there, take him. If not, there are a lot of other options like TE Michael Mayer, WR Queintin Johnson or OL Peter Skoronski so the second is a mighty valuable pick for Texans.
New game thread?Wrong thread
The Texans defense would certainly improve with a stud pass rusher, but I disagree it is a priority need, in light of all the other holes which need addressing. One of the Texans' few defensive bright spots is our pass rush, which ranks 18th in sacks, with 28.Trading back has it's merits, but who is available with the first pick worth trading up for?

I like Tyree alot even with the injury. I really think Hyatt is going to be there in the 2nd rdYou think Nick rotating picks again? Or do you like Wilson as i do? I think if QB at 1.1 a WR may be our second pick barring trade down. Thoughts?
If you draft Young and sit him for a year, why would he value 1.1 or higher to another team that wouldn't trade up for him when they could have him for 5 years? If there are no takers for a trade back I would draft Bryce Young and sit him for a year. If you can draft Caleb Williams in 2024 then you trade Young for 3000 plus trade value draft points. If the Texans can't draft Williams then Young is their franchise QB
If not Hyatt another great WRI like Tyree alot even with the injury. I really think Hyatt is going to be there in the 2nd rd
I am fluctuating on if Jaylen Hyatt in round 2 but hope you are right. I just want a lot of round 2 pics.I like Tyree alot even with the injury. I really think Hyatt is going to be there in the 2nd rd

But we have a good possibility of actually getting themEveryone does
Side note.. i read many Detroit fans want Goff gone and there's savings of $29 million. The Texans defense would certainly improve with a stud pass rusher, but I disagree it is a priority need, in light of all the other holes which need addressing. One of the Texans' few defensive bright spots is our pass rush, which ranks 18th in sacks, with 28.
The Lions and Bears defenses are both at the bottom for sacks, and neither have a priority at QB, so I'd like to see a trade down and get those extra picks.
I think the draft trade value charts will not be looked at as much at the top this year. I am hoping that Detroit and Seattle Have had a taste of winning that pushes them into QB frenzy. Add Panthers who missed on DW and that stirs trades. My first option would be to trade 1.1 provided the Texans would get more than 3000 in trade value draft points. Preferably a 2023 1st RD Top 10 along with future 1st RD(s) picks. Because the Texans need a QB they should draft one every year until they find one. That is why I wanted to draft Matt Corral last year and this year I would be on board with drafting another QB in 2023.
If there are no takers for a trade back I would draft Bryce Young and sit him for a year. If you can draft Caleb Williams in 2024 then you trade Young for 3000 plus trade value draft points. If the Texans can't draft Williams then Young is their franchise QB.
Interesting.Side note.. i read many Detroit fans want Goff gone and there's savings of $29 million.
Goff reminds me of Derek Carr, they keep getting decent stats but Not doing enough to get to the playoffs. Cap until now and QBs in draft so ify has kept them in twilight zone. Both made advangeous trade resulting in very high pick with another later round one plus two in round two. If car stereo can pry Those pics from both teams I will switch my loyalty to him.Interesting.
The Lions are in the hunt for a wildcard slot with a favorable remaining schedule. They are #6 in scoring. And they are #27 in defensive sacks. Their defense is ranked #18. So of course it is reasonable that QB is their highest priority.
They don't have an immediate need for additional cap space. I believe they'll have about $27M to work with in 2023 and there's two other players where they can gain about an additional $18M if needed. Their cap situation is also much improved in 2024.
So of course it's reasonable to address offense and not defense. If it's not broke, tear it apart anyway.
Anyways. We should know before the draft how they will play it with Goff.
The Texans, if I'm not forgetting, have never been really lucky with making that humongous draft day trade that just blows us away. The top of this '23 draft seems to be breaking in the Texans' favor. Maybe '23 just may be the one.Goff reminds me of Derek Carr, they keep getting decent stats but Not doing enough to get to the playoffs. Then there is Carolina who is falling a bit which could make a third trade down with them interesting.

So in lieu of trading the top pick you go with Bryce Young ? You are that sold on Young, huh ?My first option would be to trade 1.1 provided the Texans would get more than 3000 in trade value draft points. Do you ever see teams doing that? Drafting a player in 2023 to trade in 2024 reduces the value of the drafted player. Instead of trading a 5 year contract, you're trading a 4 year deal. Not to mention the signing bonus and guaranteed $$$ you've already given the #1 overall pick that creates dead money and a cap hit when traded. Reduced cap space and there won't be 3000 draft value points a year later. Either take the player to play him or trade the pick before it is selected. If there are no takers for a trade back I would draft Bryce Young and sit him for a year. I'd be concerned about Geno Smith turning back into Geno Smith.Surprised that no one made any comments about my suggesting signing Geno Smith if not franchised.

If they decide Young's the pick, then I hope Caserio goes all offense with the 1st 4-5 picks. Getting young playmakers like Johnston/Washington and then drafting a Center and an OG in rds 3-4. Give Young every tool he needs to succeed. Then work on the defense in FA and the 2024 draft.
I want a full offense draft because the Texans have to be able to put up over 20 pts per game and I don't think Young's the guy that can do that on a consistent basis. If Young's the missing link, then draft him RD1-01. The only caveat to that, I'd use the remaining picks on defense. Young should be able to elevate the offense with his talent.
Have you seen the Texans offense? It's offensive! If Young's the missing link, then draft him RD1-01. The only caveat to that, I'd use the remaining picks on defense. Young should be able to elevate the offense with his talent.
Those three would be nice but I don't think there is anyone worthy of moving up to the #1 spot for.I’d trade down and hopefully wind up with (3) RD1 picks.

Apparently Tunsil ain't going anywhere.I like C’s, John Michael-Schmitz or Ricky Stromberg.
As for another G….Texans could get a solid answer a little later in Cody Mauch of North Dakota State.
This group could start in some spots or backup in 2023, but come 2024 the OL could look like this:
LT: Johnson
LG: Mauch
OC: Michael-Schmitz
RG: Green
RT: Skoronski
How do you mean? The Texans, if I'm not forgetting, have never been really lucky with making that humongous draft day trade that just blows us away. The top of this '23 draft seems to be breaking in the Texans' favor. Maybe '23 just may be the one.
It appears many of the teams between 1/2 and 1/6 may not have a dire need to draft qb. The Panthers are the one team that almost assuredly will draft qb, unless they sign a fa. This increases the likelihood that teams may be looking at Anderson. Whether the Texans go offense or defense with our first pick, the opportunity for a trade, or multiple trades, may be increased. And if the Texans are eying Young, we could trade down a few spots and worry less about Carolina leapfrogging the Texans. If the draft goes defense at the top of the round, Carolina could just sit pat and let a qb fall to them. How do you mean?
I have to disagree. A pass rusher has gone #1 overall 5 times since 2000. No team has ever traded up to take them. QBs have gone #1 overall 16 times in that time span. With only 2 trades to move up for them. Deals for 1.1 rarely happen. We still have four weeks for the draft order to finalize, but it looks encouraging for an opportunity for the Texans to wheel and deal with the 1/1 selection.
