YOUR TOP 10 TEXANS AS OF TODAY

Simple....OB's first 3 years saw RC and the Texans defense carry the team in a far better AFCS. OB's 2nd 3 years saw Watson and the offense carry the Texans to enough wins to win during a woefully down period of the AFCS.

If Watson and Hopkins had not been with the Texans during this 2nd 3 year stint, Texans are probably drafting routinely within the top 8 picks and OB would've been shown the door......even during the period of the AFCS being down.
We would have drafted QB. WR and probably LT rather than trade for Tunsil if we had top eight pick last three seasons. Interesting thought. I might look up whom we could have drafted pick 8.

Possibilities on quick retro look:
2017 1.8 QB Patrick Mahomes 2.40 WR Juju Smith-Schuster 3.72 RB Kareem Hunt
2018 1.8 Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick 2.40 WR Courtland Sutton 3.72 OLB Sam Hubbard
2019 1.8 RT Tytus Howard 2.40 LG Max Scharping 3.72 RB David Montgomery 4.104 OLB Maxx Crosby

Would you have been willing to give up WFV/Martin to trade up and pick Tunsil? I posted on here that I wanted them to trade up at that time. The response I got was it will hurt depth too much.

Yes. TB should have gladly made that deal. I was not a huge Fuller fan at that time rating Josh Docston much higher. Hindsight but what a better team we would have been with Tunsil at LT since 2016 plus having two firsts and
a second. Looking at having Tunsil 2016 who would you have drafted 2020 at say 1.22?

Edit we ended up with Hargtraves anyways..

Looking at 2016 draft getting Tunsil and 2017 thru 2019 as we drafted, I would go 1.20 QB Love 2.40 Johnathan Taylor 2.57 AJ Epenesa.

Smith lost his job in a power struggle with the head coach. Ironic in that he kept his job a few years earlier by throwing the previous head coach under the bus.

Ever wonder why RS lost the power struggle this time?

To be fair, Ricky wasn't the one who got rid of Clowney, Jackson and Hopkins. Otherwise, they would have been in the top ten. Thanks Ricky!

Jackson left of his own free will. I can't count FA losses against OB, but yeah

I would agree if we lost in a bidding war, or Kareem made it public that he simply didn't want to return. But the Texans didn't even make him an offer. They clearly had no intentions of bringing him back.

Because they wanted him at safety and he stated he wanted top CB money?

You really think they had the cap space to re-sign all of those guys?

01. Watson
02. Tunsil
03. Howard
04. Scharping
05. Watt
06. Mercilus
07. Reid
08. Fuller
09. Cooks
10. Johnson / Roby

Offense once again will have to carry the Texans in 2020.....unless the defense makes one hellava leap.

It was reported that he was looking for ~$10M, or JJo money and Texans were looking at him at safety or nickel at best

Even if that's the case, you reach out to the player if you want to keep him. If you even don't talk to him or his agent tells me you have no intentions to retain him.

I think the FO knew they could only afford to keep one, and they decided on Mathieu, but they got outbidded.

Rumor has it Mathieu wanted to stay in Houston but Gaine waited too long to reach out to him. By the time Gaine reached out to him, Mathieu was negotiating with the Chiefs.

Sad that they misplayed this so badly that the Texans missed out on both Mathieu and KJ.

KJ still has hard feelings. He told Harris not to sign in FA with the Texans.

I'd be pissed if I was KJ as well.

"They didn't even approach me with an offer or any type of deal," Jackson said. "Obviously, they didn't want me back or whatever the case may be. I'm not really sure. My agent was never approached by anybody from the Texans organization, so I wasn't offered a deal of any sort. I kind of feel a little disrespected to be honest about it. At the end of the day, no hard feelings. I had a great nine years here. This will always be home for me. I definitely appreciate all the memories and all the opportunities. I appreciate the fans and everything I was able to build here. I'll always have love for on

I don't have any now and may not after Sunday game. If David has another high average with 25-30 carries, he will be one.

Mercilus - paid a lot of money and he’s not even on the stat sheet this week. He’s got to be on there, right?

Fuller played 37 snaps, hammy or not, had ZERO targets.

The guy who walked Blacklock to the locker room after he was ejected. He’s got to be on the list.

And then 7 of those cardboard cutouts to finish out the top 10. No wait, those were offensive linemen, not cutouts. Go figure.

I’ll give this a try

1) Mark Vandermeer- takes a true talent to report on this team in a positive way

2) Brent Naccara- he is director of security, no player have been hit in head with beer bottles so he is doing an amazing job.

3)kandyace Mayberry, senior Community manager. Yup, have fun managing the Houston Community, lol.

4) Andrew Johnson is mascot program manager. The Bull hasn’t taken a crap on the field yet, pretty impressed by that.

5) Holly Schweitzer-director of fan relations. If the goal is pissing off fans then Holly has done a wonderful job.

6) Sammy Morris is listed as coaching intern, I have no clue if any good but learning from this group. I got one word ...RUN....

7) Dr Corrinna Kenmom is team Psychiatrist. We folks on Tapatalk could use a session with this Doc.

8) Ray Clarage is listed as the teams Facility hygiene coordinator. Cleaning up after shitty people, I just can’t imagine how horrible this job is.

Dang I only came up with 8, that’s how bad this team is

Yet Watson is able to drag them into the playoffs, 2 years running. Just thinking out loud, but Watson might be pretty good after all.

Agreed. Hopkins is the best WR on the planet, and he most certainly did drag this sorry roster into the playoffs 2 years running, bailing out his slow-minded, decent at best qb time after time, game after game. We see exactly how lousy this Texan offense is without DeAndre, don’t we?

He’s gonna make Arizona a winning team now, too.

Smith lost his job for a lot of reasons .... One was some dirty deeds , one was the lack of a QB , it literally took a mandate from McNair to get him to draft a QB prior to round 4.

I believe Hopkins had only missed a couple of games with the Texans and outside AJ was the other best WR on the Texans. But, you owe it to yourself to look at the Texans record with Watson playing and when he doesn't.

But ... But... I thought the QB decision was collaborative decision between BOB and RS. As far as this goes the decision to trade for Schaub was a collaborative decision to between the Teflon Man and Kubiak.

The Teflon man cant get another job in the NFL for a reason.

That record is going to be changing over this yr and the next 4 yrs for that matter. 7 games and counting. It's going to be a long 4 yrs.

Let the excuses reign.
