Your Draft Day

Errant Hothy

Hypermediocrity
So how do you spend your Draft Day? Any traditions, superstitions? Favorite foods?

Which network will you watch the draft on?

Personally, I get control of the PC, rearrange the TV next to the moinitor; and I think the wife and kids go somewhere. I always eat a bag of Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, a big bag usually half in the first round and the rest near the end of the second. I'll have the TV on ESPN but with the volume turned low, but I listen to Norm Hitzgus on www.theticket.com , best draft coverage in the nation; when they aren't drolling on the Cowboys.

I'm interested to see how the NFL Network will cover the draft.

Already got the woman to go somewhere else. Going to watch it on ESPN. I think that NFL Network has better analysts & coverage, but it is in High Definition on ESPN and that conquers all, lol.

Mow the grass, clean up the shop, weed the flower beds.

About every hour I come in for a cool glass of lemonade and catch up on the one player that got drafted while I was outside.

Listen to the Eagles fans and Jets fans boo whoever their team chose.

I think I might have to add Texan fans to that list this year. Hope not.

Honestly..draft day has always been a favorite of mine..grew up in Ft. Worth so I do have a team that is a favorite but not around here..lol... I usually lay on the coach and enjoy being overwhelmed with draft and player knowledge. Usually fun when the Lions ruin the whole flow of it..lol

11:00 AM, predraft coverage, annual making of my own personal draft chart, to track who is taken where. From 11-12 mimosa's will be consumed.
12: First pick on the clock, drink switchs over to cinnamon oblivions (2 shots goldschlager, 1 cup apple juice) until the texans make their first selection
1PM, begin to feel buzz, switch over to corona with lime, rotated in with jack daniels punch and mikes hard lemonade. Eat Burger with fries.

2-9....wideeeeeeeeee open.

Me too. Wife is off to the KISD Job fair. She's a big NFL fan,not a big draft nick though. She loves her golden domers. Baptist/Houston gurl, still trin' to figgure that one out. Have the computer in this room and NFL.com. I'll watch it on NFL total access. I hate ESPN. They treat the NFL fans like mushrooms. Their NFL off season coverage, except for the draft is prety much is non exsistant. Thier draft coverage is like picking a needle out of a room full of needles. That is one of the reasons there are a hundred guys doing guru/ fantasy sites. They fill the void of a hungry public. Guess if I was a hockey/ baseball fan i'd have a different opnion. Don't want to help the yankees/cap cities out in any fashion. The more NFL total access cuts their market, the more I luv it.

Try the ticket this year Hoth boy, thanks for the heads up.

Is this the first draft on NFL Network? I don't remember it being on there last year. I will siddle up to my favorite easy chair, and sit there dumdfounded for 10 hours while people who think they know more than the actual people making the picks tell us what a great or terrible pick they just made. I will probably flip back and forth the first hour or so until I see which coverage I like best. I bet I end up with NFL Network.

Here's a picture taken of me while watching last years draft -

No doubt about it....you will hear many texans boo this yr.

I am going to get a lot of beer, sit back, and prepare to curse at the T.V. when Charley C. screws things up like he did last year. I fond this small dog at the pound and I am going to beat the crap out of it I untill I get all of my frustration out. Just Joking. I plan on sleeping-in until 9:50, turning on the tube, and comparing my mock to the GuRu's to see who has a better run.

I'll have a couple friends over, order a pizza, have a little beer on hand, and sit back & watch the first couple rounds. Last couple of years I've been known to watch the Texans pick, then start up a game of Madden. By the time it's over it's generally approaching the time the Texans should make their next pick. I get to recap all the picks I missed while playing Madden. This year I might be more interested in playing some Ghost Recon between picks.

Will be at the draft party for the first pick. Going to coach my kids basketball team at 12:30. Going to watch the rest on my TV, with a beer or six in hand (Heineken or Sapporo). Probably will order pizza, that sounds good.

We're having a PARTY!!!!!!!!!:yahoo:

It's my 3 year olds birthday party that start's at 11:00 AM. So I'll be playing host w/ the wife and trying to catch what's going on with the draft.

If the weatherman is right, you aint gonna be outside for too long, or even.

I figure that the draft is about 16 hours away, that will make it 2am local time.

However since my wife is about 9 months pregnant, she will probably be awake all hours of the night so I will probably be awake all hours of the night so at least I will likely be awake.

Then as chance would have it, New Zealands sports radio station takes a feed the Tulsa's 'The Buzz' 1430am, between 12-6am, so if the internet connection at the radion station holds out I might be able to catch what is going on. Otherwise I might need to jump on the net to find out what is going on.

Given this I will probably get no sleep and then be dopey as in the morning, 6 hours later when I am supposed to be preaching at one of my churches sister churches.

This is the life of a New Zealand football fan. :yahoo:
