Your best Texans player for 2023

So every draft pick is a bust until they prove otherwise.

This is why I seldom get into these long winded debates. It is impossible to carry on a decent conversation by text when everyone is reading into a post what isn't there.

Let me make this simple. It is only about Stingley. It is only about Stingley's freshman year in the NFL. It is NOT about other players, it is NOT about the future of Stingley. Stingley, year 1 in the NFL, did NOT perform well in accordance with where he was picked in the draft, and that makes him a bust. For his first year. Not for his second year, which he hasn't ******* played yet for christs sakes.

It's my fault. I should stick to posting my normal silly ass pics. I should know better. LOL

And it’s still a what!

To each his own. Personally, I think he was underwhelming with almost no splash plays. Doesn't even rank as average based on his performance. I know there were extenuating circumstances due to injury and the talent around him ,but I hoped to see some flashes. I didn't see it.

Bust is a strong term ,but I expect the stingley criticism to be magnified if you're a Texans fan (like me) who wanted sauce.

Taking sting over sauce was my "what" draft moment last year where I was upset and decided, "Surely the Texans scouting department knows more than the fans?"

I wanted Sauce too but right now Stingley is far from being a bust. But I hear you on the splash plays.

Lovie wasn’t playing him right either.

I hear you. Dude’s in a hole & needs to climb his way out of it. If anyone is “satisfied” with Stingley’s performance, especially if they work for the Texans, they need to stay far away from the War room for the next 5 weeks.

I’m not saying they should give up on him, but I wouldn’t be upset if they draft a starter quality CB.

Bro, I'll use blue font next time. My bad.

I thought Stingley had a pretty typical rookie year for a highly drafted corner, especially in a system like ours with talent around him like we had. Some good reps and definitely some bad

There were a good amount where he just got beat but if you go back and watch a good chunk of the passing plays against him are him playing soft zone and the linebackers just don’t fill up the passing lanes.

I still don’t know what the heck they were thinking taking him over Sauce though that is pretty baffling

It concerns me that is 2 Caserio drafts in a row where the first pick makes me go "What"! I'm hoping the third times a charm.

The Mills pick was and still is fine with me. But the Stingley pick is just simply incomprehensible. If we have another 1st round like we did last year then we're in some deep manure.

I thought you might go the Cher route and leave the planet.

Nelson is on the last year of his deal, so I expect the Texans to draft a CB at some point.

He is being pretty public about how bad he wants to re-sign here. And he’s a solid CB2. But he’s going to be another year older and the CB class is the strongest of all positions this year. I’d love the team to get another CB day 3 to learn behind him for a season then take over when he walks. There are plenty of CBs to choose from this year and I think the team can develop a solid starter letting them play behind Nelson their rookie season with Undlin as DB coach (technically passing game coordinator).

Using your reasoning, Mills is a known commodity as you say Tunsil is so we know fairly well what the chances of each will do this season. Drafted rookies we don’t.

No one putting nothing on coulds. :spit: edit:Quite a job of butchering the Kings English.

Anderson could have another 2021 season and be DROY. Hyatt or Johnston or heck even JSN if healthy could get 1500 yards.

Bijan could get 1200 yards rushing and 800 yards running.

If it looks like a could, spelled like a could, reads like a could, then guess what? :lightbulb:

Part of what can make someone a bust is their lack of ability of staying on the field. I wouldn't say Stingley is a bust just yet but he's also not "far away" from being one either. Hopefully he'll be able to stay on the field in 2023. If he can do that, maybe, just maybe he'll start to earn that #3 overall pick status.

I'm really hoping the two guys that stand out this year are Metchie and Stingley. That would be a really good story to the season.

IMO, Stingley was a bust the second he was drafted over Gardner. Hopefully he can change my mind on that, but I'm not optimistic about it.
I'm really hoping Metchie comes back strong. Just plain bad luck getting diagnosed with cancer.
My offensive pick is Pierce and Pitre on defense.

Bottom line.....to get the most out of your Tackles, the Guards have to be able to do their jobs. For the Guards to be at their best, an effective Center needs to be there. The Texans have Tackles that seem capable of being much better than average, but bad to horrible IOL play has handicapped the unit.

I wish i was more confident that Kenyon Green was going to do well in new system. Skoronski I think could be another Bruce Matthews at OC and guard. Texans will gamble he is after using 15 but I'm squirming.

I want to watch say CJ. But, I just don't know if a rookie is going to be the best player. He could be great at times but for the full season...I don’t know (I do hope so however).

I have to go with Christian Harris and Pitre. Great LT and a good safety who was playing out of position last year alot of times. I know DP will be running like a man possessed. But, I want to go with something not obvious.

Until proven otherwise, Stingley is a total bust for the position at which he was taken in the draft. We'll see what he does this year, and maybe he'll turn out to be a good pick. But until then, he's a bust.

I second this. And to think we could have had some Sauce... Too soon?

I hope it's CJ since it likely means that the Texans will get to the playoffs.

I think I'll go with Pierce even though it could be a RB by committee approach, which is probably best for the team.

A run-pass balanced team might be a bit boring to watch at times, but hopefully, there will be a few big plays each game to pump us all up.
