You Dont Pass On Talent Like This....

I couldnt agree more Scarface and like I said in another post if we could get just one of these FA Linemen ( LeCharles Bentley Saints ) ( Steve Hutchinson Seahawks ) ( Kevin Shaffer, Falcons ) we would be fine and use the second to pick up a Guard . Bush and DD is somthing I would love to see

Imagine......Battle Red or Steel Blue:yahoo:

YOU THINK EARL HAD THE BEST OLINE??? NO......We needed the excitement......!!! Plus, He will open up thinks for AJ down the field......................

I see a RB with burner speed returning a punt, catching balls in the end zone, and taking dump passes down the field. I see a RB who can make defenders miss, but did not once see him break a tackle in that video or run straight up the middle between the tackles. I'll take D'Brick, thank you...

Does stiff arming guys to the ground count as breaking tackles?

If Bush played at UT, 100% of this board would be in love....LOL.

Um just look at the Oilers' past. After drafting isn Munchak and Mathews....it still took the Oilers 4 years and Warren Moon to get them in the playoffs. The Oilers never had the RB to be the ground threat to get them over the hump in the playoffs.

When the Luv'ya Blue Oilers had Earl with a So-So line, It took maybe the Best team in History to prevent the to get to the SuperBowl.

I will take my chances on Bush.

D'Brick is Not PACE.......no where near him. U dont pass on Eric Dickerson again.........Oilers did.

Lorenzo White, Alan Pinkett, Alonzo Highsmith, Gary Brown, at least one other.

The Oilers spent draft picks galore on RBs and it just didn't work out.

After reading all the pros and cons about whether to take Bush or not...I'm falling on the side to take him. I'm believing those of you that are a lot smarter than I that there will be good OL still available after we would draft Bush. At the very least, how much more time would that give Carr if we had an offensive threat like Bush coming out of the backfield? OMG!

the oilers didnt have DD and if i remember right, were never dominant on defense.

Oh, I'd have to disagree with the defense part of that, but you're right about DD. White and Brown had 1 season each that they were as good as DD, but that's it.

I'd love to have some of those D guys on our team right now.

We had 3 winning seasons and no Super Bowls while Campbell was here for six seasons. One man alone cannot carry a team. If you want to be a 4-12 team next season instead of a 2-14 team, then sure I'd draft Bush...

With a new coach and coaching staff, we will be much better than 2-14 or 4-12. I believe with a new coaching staff alone we will be 7-9 or better

It's going to be a long four months till draft day. I'm already sick of hearing Bush's name. Even if we trade the pick before draft day, people will then talk about what could have been. No matter what happens, Bush's name will be around for many years on this board. We draft him, he does well...the "I told you he was great, bow down to my genius" come out. We draft him, he does bad, the "Told you so, we should have traded the pick" guys come out. We trade the pick and he does well elsewhere, no matter how well we do with who we draft, we should have drafted him, and if we don't draft him, he does badly, guys get to say "see, I told you we shouldn't draft him."

anyone that has followed this guy has seen the tackles he breaks , i dont know what video you are watching but theres not only broken tackles but he makes guys miss thats his style .

Not for years, maybe one season, I haven't heard anything about Derrick Johnson in a few weeks...

Maybe I watched a different video, I saw him spin and make defenders miss, never saw him take on a defender heads up or break a tackle...

Well actually in the video...

After some of the long catches against VT, there is a video of him running between the tackles at the 5 yard line scoring a touchdown.

Around the half way point, he runs between the tackles against UCLA.

Right after that, he runs between the tackles again against UCLA.

After that, against Oklahoma, he starts a run up the middle and then bounces outside for a long run.

After that, he runs between the tackles against Arkansas.

After the Oregon run, he runs between the tackles and hurdles a Arizona State player.

After that, he runs between the tackles and hurdles a Notre Dame player.

Then there is the famous run against Fresno State, where in fact he starts between the tackles and then puts the after burners on to reach the outside.

The video isn't one of the best because they show a lot of plays where you just see the end result not necessarily how he got to the open field.

I want to see him run over a nose guard, knock their helmet off, and then knock a middle line-backer out cold. Then, I want to see him sack the other team's QB by grabbing their face mask and spinning them around, risking serious neck injury and possible death. After that, I want to see video of him gunning down a couple of drug lords, just to make sure he's not a wussie....and make sure he drinks a man's beer. :)

Um.....The Texans would have something the Oilers NEVER had.....a #1 WR. They had a bunch of good system WRs.....none of them would be a #2 on other teams. Um...none of the Oiler backs were SuperStar backs. None were Top draft choices. They were serviceable for the run and shoot system. You put Barry Sanders with the Oilers' version of the run and shoot.....NOT the Lions' version, and the Oilers would have made it to the SuperBowl.

The Oilers never had the run and passing game together. With Carr and AJ, add Bush....u have the potential to do that.

Um...that's just dumb. No RBs that wants to survive for long (see Earl) will do that. All the great ones know how to make people miss. Emmit, Walter, Terrell Davis, Thurman Thomas, Dorsett, Faulk.....etc.... What do all those backs have in common? They made it to the Superbowl......

Um...the only back there that bush remotely resembles is marshall faulk because his style is comperable. even having emmitt smith in there is contradictory to the entire point the "bush can walk on water" crew tries to make. emmitt got his numbers as a workhorse, not as a back who ran around defenders. terrell davis only played for 4 years. thurman thomas has no rings, and walter payton got his 1 ring on arguably the best defense ever.

teams win championships, not runningbacks. earl campbell, walter payton, o.j. simpson, barry sanders, thurman thomas ... 1 ring between em. ummmmm.

the patriots have 3 rings with kevin faulk & smith (hell i dont even know the guy's name) as their rb's.

OK, I guess gunning down drug lords wasn't too good for Earl's career. My mistake.

They also had Corey Dillon who had 1650 rushing yards last year and before Jamal Lewis a few years ago held the record for a single game rushing total of 278 yards.

i know you're not saying that dillon in any way made the patriots. and lewis had a respectable season in 2000 (4.4ypc, 1364yds) on the best defensive team, but averaged under 4ypc during the postseason. despite his 2000yd season in '03, the ravens got bounced out during the wildcard game (where he got a whole 35yds).

I heard someone on National radio talking about Bush and he was comparing him in style to Tony Dorsett. I think it was Gil Brandt but I was working and didn't catch the name....but I'm pretty sure it was him. I thought that was an interesting comparison. Tony was a great open field runner in his day.

Bruh, I ain't never seen Emmitt Smith run over anybody. The only thing I've seen Emmitt do is run straight, cut once or twice, then continue to run straight for the endzone. Emmitt Smith had very good field vision and a very good o-line. He was definitely not a bruiser type running back that's for sure.

As far as that video, I don't seen any running back in the league with the juking abilities of Reggie Bush, with the exception of Michael Vick (yeah, I know he plays QB). This guy will be a very tough character for defenders to tackle. It will be very hard for defenders to square up and get a good lick on Reggie, the guy is too fast, too quick, and has too much damn juking abilities. I'll take a running back like Bush anyday, his career is gonna last longer than most power RBs anyway.

The Texans should draft the BPA with their first pick, and that player is Reggie Bush without a doubt.

Emmitt broke his share of tackles. He was a good between the tackles runner....better than Dom Davis is.

You must not have seen very many cowboys games.

I'm not saying that Dillon was the only reason why they went to the Super Bowl, but he was a major reason why they went there. Running back had always been a weakness in the team and that is why they went out traded for him. I only brought up Jamal Lewis because he broke Corey Dillon's single game rushing record. There was no other reason.

And with all of this talk about how running backs are never ridden to Super Bowls, what about John Riggins in 1982 and 1983 with the Redskins?

they didnt ride riggins, they rode the hogs & theismann. riggins averaged a whole 3.1 & 3.6ypc respectively. the only reason riggins stayed is because he survived long enough to keep from being replaced.

Mostly because he was pretty mediocore as a rookie. Not good or bad enough for either "I told you so crowd"

Is that why Riggins is in the HOF and Theismann isn't? And is that why John Riggins was the MVP of the Super Bowl in '82 and Theismann wasn't?

riggins won the mvp because he got 38 carries & didnt die, but i'm just being argumentative, sorry.:tomato:
