Yahoo draft:Winners and losers

Wolf

100% Texan

LOSER: Leavenworth Penal League opponents

You know Michael Vick watched on the prison TV, saw the Falcons draft Ryan and went outside to the prison yard and took it out on somebody. He probably hasn’t been that fired up since winning at Green Bay in that playoff game.

lol:
WINNER: Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs went for the interior trenches. They grabbed LSU standout defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey at No. 5 and gave up a third- and a fifth-round pick to jump up for Branden Albert, an offensive guard from Virginia who was considered the last of the top-tier lineman available. In doing so the Chiefs are believed to have outmaneuvered the Texans. They then added a physical cornerback in Brandon Flowers in the second round.

Dorsey is going to be a star in the NFL. He’s huge, strong, has a great motor and is an extremely high-character, great-locker-room guy. He was a dominant player in college football last year despite being injured for much of the year.

“I know that the Kansas City stadium (Arrowhead) is amazing, the fans are amazing,” he said. “I’m just ready to interact with them.”

He’ll be a huge fan favorite.

as mentioned numerous times in other threads.. we wanted Duane from the start. We traded down because we felt we could get him later in the first.

*shrug* like all of our previous drafts..time will tell whether or not we got the better deal.

You'll say that now but how about before the draft. I think the Texans reached for Brown. When you focus on 1 position that is what happens. Day 1 for the Texans was a lesson in what not to do in the NFL draft.

What happened to that article about Gibbs saying not to draft OL in the 1st round?

I think the lesson doesn't apply when you don't have a 2nd round pick. That puts the team into a position where they might have to take a guy that could be there in the 2nd. The team needs to get a long term answer at LT and we weren't going to find that in the middle of the 3rd round. 2 years ago we took Spencer and Winston in the 3rd round, but that year only 6 tackles were drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds. With the run on them here the Texans were in somewhat of a bind. They could have grabbed the bpa, but I think they did essentially the same thing only they took the player at the top of their board.

I don't understand how KC screwed us. They had the 17th pick so they could have taken Albert at 17 if they thought he'd be there. If they "screwed" anyone it was Arizona.

No no no no, to the media the Texans FO is perpetually inept at drafting and are constantly out-maneuvered by any team at every turn.
